Yep, as much as people like to knock them, there is no denying that they clearly put a bit of thought into what they put out, and bring some good inovation to an otherwise reasonably static market. The ready supply of spare parts from the off ought also to be applauded. I know they can be a bit cringe at times, but....

Cost will be everything of course, but a gas sniper that becomes an HPA sniper in winter- that sounds fun.

Yeah, I don't tend to buy Novritsch stuff guns because it just doesn't appeal to me usually. I will frequently say that if you want a decent VSR-looking bolt action without needing to do many, if any, upgrades, just buy an SSG10 because they're fine out of the box. Are they as good as an obsessively tuned VSR? No, but they also don't need that time and money sink to get a decent percentage of the performance. I've bought non-gun Novritsch stuff in the past and most of it was pretty great, and I will endorse his newer SSX23 magazines because they're so much easier to maintain than the damn mk23 mags; the only thing that was a bit crap were his ghillie leaves that fell apart, and his original ghillie boonie just wasn't big enough for me and my 62cm radius cranium.

The gas / HPA out of the box sniper rifle is certainly the most interesting thing in my opinion. That's something that we really don't have anywhere else, so I really hope they nail it. Using gas bolt actions in the winter can be a challenge (it's possible, but you basically need to own 4 different types of gas for weather dependent performance), so having one that can be used with green gas in the warmer months, then switched to HPA in the colder months is far more accessible to people. Not to mention, it won't have the gas magazine tax (my m700 mags are £50+ each...) as the green gas goes in a reservoir on the rifle, not in the magazine.

I'll wait and see, because I never buy gen1 anything, but it may tempt me enough to buy one. I probably won't, because I already have my m700s and all the gas variants to use it in pretty much all weathers, though I am pretty much entirely a gas bolt action / GBBR enjoyer
