BigAl
IF YOU OWN ANY BLANK FIRERS READ THIS.. As of now the UK Government as banned the ownership of Blank Fire Guns deemed easy to convert to live fire. This affects Retay, Ekol, Ceonic, ISSC and Blow. If you have any of these sorry but you need to get rid of it, either cut it up with and angle grinder or hand it in to the Police during the amnesty which is due to run from the 3rd to the 28th of February. Not sure of legal standing between now and them so I could cut em up if you can. Then hand the bits in as they may know. you have them. DO NOT TRY TO BE CLEVER AND HIDE THEM, IF YOU ARE CAUGHT YOU FACE PROSECUTION FOR POSSESSION OF A FIREARM AND 10 YEARS IN PRISON. https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/amnesty-for-blank-firing-guns-announced-for-early-next-year/ Edited November 14 by BigAl Tackle and Rogerborg
hitmanNo2
I'm aware of at least one case where police have turned up at someone's door and confiscated one as they had the records of sale of them...
BigAl
Yep I can well believe that, hence my advice to cut the bugger up! But keep the parts as evidence and turn em in during amnesty.
novioman
Not illegal yet, so don’t panic. Hand in period doesn’t start until February next year. No compensation is being offered, many will disappear. It only applies to a few brands so don’t start handing in perfectly legal blank firers.
BigAl
I have listed the illegal ones, if unsure check with someone who knows more. Though amnesty is not till Feb they are going so may as well get em gone, then if police turn up and give you grief you can just give em a bag of bits, stop them using them for training purposes too. Afterall you're not getting any compensation, which amounts to state organised theft of property legally bought. Rogerborg and Tackle

What do you expect from a government who's leader was overlooking the cps case against a certain Jimmy Saville, & said there were no grounds for prosecution 🤬 Next it'll be certain pcp air rifles, after that, who knows ? The finding is that they are readily convertible, and they are being actively converted and used for murder-death-kills, so I see no reason why possession would (or should) be lawful right now. My interpretation is that it's a Home Office policy to not prosecute over them yet. But the police - as a core Peelian principle - should operate on what the law says, independent of policy. You might not get prosecuted, but that doesn't mean that you won't get arrested and have your home turned upside down: the process is the punishment. So I'd agree with destroy-and-retain now, or go and talk to your local cop shop and see if they'll take it now and issue a receipt, given that you might be asked to prove your innocence later. novioman
Had the same with air cartridge guns, no compensation and hand them in unless you want to put them on FAC, what happened, 60-80 thousand went underground according to Home Office figures. Same will happen here. The majority of owners who aren’t on forums or buy newspapers won’t even know about the amnesty unless they put out a lot of TV & radio messages to warn owners. Purchased in good faith perhaps - but not compliant with the law due to their construction
