Is it possible to travel with just the complete set of airsoft gearbox without using a hard case with locks?

It depends on what you mean by ‘travel’

When driving in your car domestically it’s best practice to use a case, but you’re fine as long as Airsoft guns are not in sight when loading, driving and unloading

If travelling in/through countries then comply with their laws

When crossing borders comply with the laws of each country, and the terms & conditions of airlines, ferry companies and the channel tunnel

Did you mean ‘gear box’ as in components etc or gear (all your kit etc?

If it looks like gun parts then treat it as a gun

If it’s just internals then package it safely

If you mean just the gearbox, ie this then I can't see why not

The law in question is the Section 19 offence: having imitation firearm in public without reasonable excuse.

Since a gearbox is not an imitation firearm, there is no offence.

...

Actually, what do you mean by possible?

What do you mean by travel?

What do you mean by complete set of airsoft gearbox?

I’ve never transported RIFs within the UK in hard cases with locks in 17 years.  Just in soft gun bags.  I’m not aware of any laws in the UK that require them to be carried in locked hard cases.  They just need to be kept out of sight (plus a good reason for carrying them).

If it’s just the gearbox I guess carried out of sight will be sufficient.

Or does the OP mean travelling between countries?

If your going by air perhaps prepare yourself as the gearbox with motor fitted could raise some eyebrows on x ray scanners

Agree, I briefly closed an office block down when something I'd ordered went through the post rooms xray machine?

When I first started playing I used a hard gun case with a padlock. I quickly changed to a soft bag as I found the case attracted more attention

For the rare times i used public transport I always fancied one of those guitar hardcase gunbags, I think hazard4 make one, or even buy a regular one from Ebay & put in dividers, mind you with the amount of kit I used to take to games I'd probably need a wheeled cello case.

That reminds me, years ago, leaving a job at the Barbican a girl passes us wheeling a massive cello hard case, I turn to the lad working for me & say:

"She used to work for me but I had to sack her"

His response: "really, whys that ?"

I replied: "I found out she was on the fiddle"

He started laughing about 10 minutes later lol ?

I'm here all week?

Carrying RIFs in a fishing rod bag with an old fishing rod poking out the top would make it very inconspicuous ?

Fun fact: in Florida, it's legal to open carry while hunting, camping or fishing.

I reckon I’d be better at shooting the fish than trying to catch them with a rod!

'When I was a lad' you could cycle to the local woods with an air rifle on your back, air pistol in your pocket....no worries ?

That reminds me, I must buy a hard case, only got one of those soft floppy thingies. Do fancy a Nuprol one look the bis !

Only counts if you set it up armed

Somewhere I (should) still have a banjo missing its strings, which has been awaiting conversion for nearly 30 years into a Mariachi inspired weapon

…… and looking back that far - Salma Hayak is 58.  She’s still got it.

But she’ll still have to wait in line behind 65 year old Susanna Hoffs

……..

This weekend my weaponry will be transported in a locked hard case…..
