emilianoksa Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Some pistols have a ring for lanyards and some don't. Are there ways of fitting them to those that lack a lanyard connector?
Supporters Adolf Hamster Posted July 28, 2018 Supporters Posted July 28, 2018 Which ones specifically? Cant recall seeing any without somewhere to hook one. Tbh whats more important is having a holster that will retain the pistol properly.
emilianoksa Posted July 28, 2018 Author Posted July 28, 2018 Thanks for the reply. Offhand I imagine the Glock and Sig P226 are without. The CZ 75 P09 , Beretta 92 and some others are designed to take lanyards. I have seen people lose their grasp on pistols when drawing them quickly from a holster.
Jayjay Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Generally with those that don't have holes specifically for lanyards they will have replaceable back straps on the grip. You can either drill a hole into one/buy a new one with pre drilled holes. Certainly for Glocks that will work. There are also lanyard plugs available, again I only specifically know about the Glock ones that fill the gap between the back strap and the mag well. But they again sometimes need a bit of handy work with a drill in order to install. Thinking outside the box and depending on how many mags you run for your pistol, you could always buy a mag speed plate and attach a solid key ring. Thinking about it... im going to do that. Recently lost a mag for my Glock 18, if every mag had a retention lanyard on it i'd never of lost it! All I would say from personal experience outside of airsoft is that sometimes retention lanyards can get in the way if you are transitioning between hands.
Mostly Retired Moderators L3wisD Posted July 28, 2018 Mostly Retired Moderators Posted July 28, 2018 Glocks are easy to modify for a lanyard. The handle is easily drilled. This is one of my old G19s:
MisterG Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 My G17 had a hole in the back, it was so neat I assumed that's how they came, as I bought it used. Using a Skorpion as a pistol atm. I took the stock off. Cheers G

I've never noticed it in pictures I have seen. Which make: TM, We or KJW? I believe some lanyards come with small metal clips as connectors.

On the we one its moulded into the bottom of the backstrap, it doesnt stick out so wouldnt be obvious in pictures of them from the side view. Its a bit of a pita, i found it was easier to remove one of the grip panels to hook the lanyard on, its a bit tight to poke the string through.
Mostly Retired Moderators djben9 Posted July 30, 2018 Mostly Retired Moderators Posted July 30, 2018 my TM 17 has one.... fell out of holster on its first outing and spent an hour looking for it, got the lanyard and even though it fell out again, didnt lose it!.... have since changed to a belt or retention holster as this was when i used the leg holster

Glocks require an aftermarket plug.
