Supporters Finius Posted June 16, 2012 Supporters Share Posted June 16, 2012 This may, or may not work. I’m not sure people will be interested, but I find it a pretty cool concept. I’m going to be assigning airsoft related companies values, which may increase or decrease dependent on their actions, their reputation or even reviews and news on the forum. I’ve outlined the rules of this game below. Before you read though, this game rewards content generation. If you own shares in say, Tokyo Marui, and you write them a review, that may increase their value, and thus the value of your shares, which is good (but don’t lie, if you get caught out, it might not be so lovely). Basic rules: -Stock values will be updated as suitable at 8:30pm to the best of my ability (if things are happening, daily/realtime, if not, then weekly on Friday nights). -Stock purchases end at 8:00pm and resume at 9:00pm, if you suspect your stock is going to fluctuate, and you want to buy or sell post in the thread BEFORE 8:00pm or after 9:00pm. -Every player starts with £25 to spend on their stocks. -Every month, the player with the most value will be declared the winner and will receive a bonus £5 and an internet cookie. -I will be the broker, I will not be playing but all buying and selling must go through me, I will also dictate value changes using the guidelines below and my own discretion, this includes bailing out bankruptcy and/or buying in a company etc. -All stock portfolios will be published in this first post, if it’s not typed in here, it doesn’t count toward your score. -Scoring is based on “cash held” and also the value tied up in stocks. -If a player finds themselves in a situation where they can’t do anything at all, they may declare themselves bankrupt, other players may then “buy them out” – taking over all their stock and giving them an amount of cash with which they can start again. -Players may "buy in" a company in order to bring them into the game if they feel they should be included. -Please post only ONCE, once you have seen your request etc acknowledged in this post, you can edit your own to simply say [Placeholder], with a note of the date changed, until such time as you choose to do something else. -From time to time, companies may restrict how many shares they allow to be bought to ensure competition etc. -Inactive portfolios will be cleared after 21days; you do not have to buy or sell, but must return every 21 days to update your placeholder. -Other rules may pop up as the game goes on, for I am a whimsical lord and master. Guidelines on values: -The following will increase value by £1.00, new products, positive reviews, new stock, announcing major events etc. -The following will increase value by £1.50, good reviews, revolutionary and innovative products never seen before. -Negative reviews will decrease value by £0.50x the number of bad reviews in a row. -Extremely bad reviews, or cancellations etc will decrease value by £2.00 -The above are merely the guidelines that I can think up right now, since I’m going to be the broker, I will decide what something is worth. [The Companies] Tokyo Marui - £2.00 WE - £2.50 G&P - £1.00 VFC - £1.00 Zeroone - £1.00 Actionhobbies - £2.50 Land Warrior - £1.00 Patrol Base - £1.00 Ground Zero - £2.00 (I’m only starting with nine fairly simple ones for now). News: -The market is closed until 9:00pm and will reopen for buying at that time. -Actionhobbies are the first UK retailer stocking Helikon MP, the first commercially available MTP pattern (ActionHobbies stock +£1.50). -WE AEGs become available for pre-order, WE biohazard resident evil M9 announced (WE stock +£1.50). -TM release the worlds’ first semi-auto spring pistol (TM stock +£1.00). -GZ weekender generating hype across all airsoft news sources (GZ stock +£1.00). -This weeks biggest gainer was Tariq, gaining £17.50 in total. Say, G&G come out with a belt fed, shell ejecting gas LMG that uses shells that are disposable and cost .25p each and produces it's own gas... That would be like the most innovative thing of all time ever. BUT, what if only airsoftGI announce it, and Finius uses Evike as his news channel? I think it's a silly game. However! Supporters Finius Posted July 7, 2012 Author Supporters Share Posted July 7, 2012 I had originally though this was going to be a flop, but if people are interested I'll run it and see what happens It's nothing more than a mathematical guessing game combined with "people who generate content win". I'll be mostly taking updates off the forum; news section, reviews section, the odd thread about gear (so if a shop or manufacturer is mentioned HEAVILY in a really useful and educational thread, they get a boost). That sort of thing. So essentially, if you want to get ahead, either hope for the best, OR, get writing and contributing (that's just good for everyone ) If I do have to go elsewhere looking for news etc regularly, there will be no real affect on the game; all airsoft news gets around anyway, especially something like a shell ejecting, self powering cheap to arm, belt fed lmg, if news arrives later at one place than the other, the manufacturer still gets the boost eventually. As for why there's GZ and Z1, it's because of the hype around the NAE and I want to give people a reason to write about it here once they've been I will be adding all portfolios into the first post tonight at 8:00pm and making my first adjustments. As I said guys, this might fail miserably before it even gets started, but I thought it might give people an incentive (however small) to bring us news, reviews and general contributions and might also be a bit more challenging than "ban nickona for EVERYTHING" Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
