Sorry! Didn't mean to forget about you. ?

Yeah - it's been like whack-a-mole today with the Spammers. I've nuked some throughout the day - mainly the leftovers from @rocketdogbert and @RostokMcSpoons...? I think they've sussed the changes to the registration that @proffrink implemented.

Reasonably priced lightweight chest rig
Speedbird_666 replied to Dan Robinson's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I've had one of these for years. https://www.military1st.co.uk/13532001-mil-tec-mag-carrier-chest-rig-olive.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjw1rqkBhCTARIsAAHz7K0zZE5JwihFAcWtvn4IqydQDCQ3-AGT5VD-X_47cCviYRnyrWFGqoEaAtA4EALw_wcB Not Cool. Not available in any gucci colours, but it's a slightly bigger 'light' rig that is cheap, well enough constructed for BBwarz and has an appropriate amount of coverage for more...ahem...'portly' gentlemen. -
The gearbox is proprietary on Ares EFCS guns. There are no drop-in upgrade options. You will need to undertake modifications to the gearbox and/or fabrication of adapters to fit anything other than the stock EFCS unit. Not saying it can't be done - but it's probably not worth the hassle.

By DDPM I assume you are referring to Desert DPM? If so, the side pouches are probably for the 45L Day Sack available here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125122762851

As @Lozart mentioned - Aliexpress is the best place for repo gear on a budget at the moment. I always pick a vendor that does the 15 Day delivery option - I've never had a problem and my last order arrived in about 10 days.
-
Stick it your basket - wait a day or two and they will send a discount code. They have an E&L '74U for a reasonable price ATM (£240). Whilst I wouldn't recommend any shop with 'BB Gun' in their company name to new players, I wouldn't be too bothered about ordering from such a vendor myself.

Steyr AUG …. But which one ?
Speedbird_666 replied to JimFromHorsham's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
The Aussie Army's done that job for you - they bought 2000 of the things for force-on-force training. They look absolutely gorgeous from vids/pics i've seen, but I'm not into GBBRs so I hope that they do release an AEG version in the future. -
The fit, finish and realism (if that's your 'thing'). The Cyma CM035 and CM045 look nearly identical (metal receivers etc), but the '35 is TM-Based, and the '45 VFC-based. Little things just off the top of my head - there's no little screws holding the front of the gun on to the receiver ('35), instead there is a front trunnion actually riveted to the receiver - a stout through-pin (and retaining grub screw) holds it all together. CM045 uses a legit stamped steel lower receiver, whereas the CM035 uses cast potmetal (Zamak/Mazak).

I would go with a VFC-based Cyma clone over a TM-based Cyma clone. My choice would be the CM.045. The newer ones with blue internals are lovely little guns.

Steyr AUG …. But which one ?
Speedbird_666 replied to JimFromHorsham's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Some good info there. The ASG Value line seems to be a compelling option for the upgraders. I think I've only seen two AUGs in gameplay in the last couple of years - one was the APS version (raised texturing) and the other I think was a JG with a Kythera or Mancraft HPA unit shoe-horned in (it was a mechanical unit at least). Like G36s and UMPs, I think that AUGs as a platform deserve more love these days. -
Steyr AUG …. But which one ?
Speedbird_666 replied to JimFromHorsham's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I thought I heard that they are working on an AEG version too? Could be wrong though Classic Army also made an AUG too, but tricky to find these days. I think it was once regarded as the best of the TM Clones. -
It could also be the trigger pack - it's quite a complicated Heath Robinson affair with a long connector rod to disconnect the trigger. There's a few reports of them wearing out, or just flat out not working in semi. I replaced my neighbour's trigger pack as he was having some issues with the trigger reset. I have his old one on my desk at the moment.

VFC MP7 AEG micro trigger switch needed
Speedbird_666 replied to PAPA 4 ZERO's topic in Electric Guns
Even if the OP doesn't respond to your post - I would be interested to hear how the repair works out for you. -
Interesting - I don't recall having such problems when I re-wired and serviced my neighbour's poorly ICS L85 last year. He wants me to upgrade his hop soon (I think he wants an EnglishKiwi hop unit) so I will pay attention to the selector gubbins.
-
Given the lethargic nature of the gun (my neighbour's ICS L85 is as slow as molasses on a 7.4v - around 9-10rps) and the very limited battery space - I would be looking at what could be done to fit a warhead motor personally. Lower current draw and a very decent bump in performance over the stock ferrite ICS unit should help with overcoming the gun's shortcomings. I do enjoy taking ICS L85s apart though - they are a doddle to work on compared to some.

Airsoft would still live on. Just with neon-coloured guns.
-
Yeh - got it in the end, hence my edit.
-
It's the pricing that puts me off that one - another £15-20 gets you the excellent Perun Hybrid unit with the wiring already soldered. Should drop into a Specna GB with no fuss. NanoASRs can be had for £20. Yes, you still have to solder, but the two signal wires is easier to deal with than two power wires plus a signal into the switch for cable routing. Obviously you don't get AB and precocking, but you do get the ability to hot-swap the unit later on if it dies, or you want to upgrade. But again, for me, the Perun Hybrid is the way to go. Edit: Looking at the wiring diagrams, you could bodge the AB++ onto the existing X-ASR wiring. Not sure I would want to do that personally but it looks like it could be done.
-
Yeh - the X-ASRs do that. Especially if you put a few more amps through them (i.e. an upgraded motor). Don't bother with another one. They are shit. And the wiring setup differs from the Nano-ASR, Nano-HARD, WARFET etc so it's not plug'n'play. I would go down the Perun Hybrid route personally, but a cheaper option would be to either fit a complete replacement switch/wiring set (non-mosfet - will work for years on a 7.4v LiPo), or fit a cheap simple dumb mosfet (like the nano-ASR) and at least you can easily upgrade to the likes of a WARFET later.

Bulldog = SRC + Custom Branding. Use it, abuse it, if (when?) it breaks, sell the parts and move on. Don't spend any money on 'upgrading' it, other than perhaps a new hop rubber. There's a good chance that it will soldier on just fine, assuming you don't expect too much in terms of ROF and Power.

She's a beauty - and only 20-30min up the road from me as well. Just need to convince the missus that £18k would be money well spent...?
-
Welcome. There are a couple of sites calling themselves 'Spec Ops' or 'Special Ops' - which one are you referring to? Loads of info on here, with plenty of advise on buying guns and gear.
-
Yep. It's hard to tell from compressed video audio though. Could very well be a stripped gear (spur or sector). In either case - it's a strip-down and rebuild job.
-
Stripped Piston would be my bet.
