  1. Very happy with my DIY spray camo for my baby!

  2. Cheers Mack, what's the worst that can go wrong?! How hard can it be?! Go for it Bro! The only prep I did was to remove the BCA and mask up the openings, optics and switches. Used some leaves from the garden as stencils and did a bit of practise on a card board box!
  3. So, I've finally bitten the bullet and spray camo'd my baby! I was a little nervous of cocking it up, but it's actually pretty easy! I wanted to go for the kind of rough and ready improvised camo that is actually used by units for real, not the very neat and precise exact replicas of camo patterns or designs. No disrepsect tot them, they do look very cool, but I just wanted something a little more realistic, what do you think??...
  4. I've finally done it!! Started painting my rifle!!!! Hope it comes out ok??!!

  9. Cheers longshot, excellent summary
  10. I'm sure it'll be fine mate, I reckon the police and customs and excise have far more important things to worry about that us lot running around inflicting bb related damage on each other in our free time! But slightly alarming that a Met Pol SFO doesn't know the score on airsofting and RIFs?! lol I've been advised that if you are stopped by the police, for example on route to or from a site, then be open and honest and don't get flustered or angry. The chances are the officer won't have a clue what you're talking aout and will be inclined to check further, this may involve a trip to the station, but they're only doing their job and trying to protect the public. Sounds like pretty good advice to me.
  11. Welcome Snake eyes, and as has been said before, a very good summary by longshot. I know this is a very contentious issue, especially for newbies, my first rifle was gifted to me by a friend who imported it from the states, in two parts, without a UKARA, it arrived promptly and with no issues, apart from a rather hefty fee in import duty! It seems you've got that covered with the smaller packages and your experience with importing. I have imported some spare parts and upgrades and felt the sting of the import fees, It does make it seem less like a bargain. I wonder how many prosecutions there are in this area? or how many confiscations for airsofters importing items? The recent theft of airsoft weapons in Essex is an interesting case in point, but without any context it is difficult to analyse. I would guess those were stolen as part of a "routine" burglary and the thieves would try to sell them on or possible use them for criminal purposes. Are there any instances of airsofters either with or without a UKARA defence having "conversations" with the authorities? Is is a big problem? I would guess that most airsofters, understanding the sensitivities surrounding this are very sensible, always transporting the RIFs in appropriate cases and only using them at registered sites (or indoors at their own home?!). If stopped and questioned by the police, what's the response/reaction you can expect? If this is already a thread elsewhere, my apologies. Good luck snake, let us all know how you get on!
  12. Great two days at Halo Mill, fantasitc staff and players there, loving my new tracer unit, just aching after two full on days and nursing quite a few hits!!

Yeah they both loved it, it was their 1st too. They want to come often with me now.

  13. I think Mr B hit the nail on the head, "Walting" isn't about load outs and tributes and dressing up in what you like and or respect, it about trying to pass yourself off as something you're not. Granted, at many sites you may get some odd looks if people don't know you and they "think" you're Walting, but if the event is one where reenactors or tributes are expected, admired and appreciated, then I'm sure you'd have a great time. I've seen some great load outs in exacting detail of US SF types and no one bats an eye lid and thinks these people are trying to pass themselves off as the real deal. Why should it be ant different for the UK armed forces? As long as you're not trying to pass yourself off as serving military then fair play to you! The more detail and the more accuracy the more the better! Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. It's all about context people. And don't try telling the 314MMTRU their beret is easy to earn!!!!
  14. Wow! That's a bit more than a tad??!!!
  15. Gotta be gas man! I got a cheap HFC G17 as my first pitsol, and it's still good, love it, even if it's only 250fps, it's a great secondary and CQB weapon. I'm planning to get a WE Tech Glock 17 when I can, as all my ancils from the HFC, mags, holster, laser etc will fit it
  16. My beloved 416 with new fore grip and B+T tracer unit, and a restored and re-zeroed 10" inner barrel, ready for the weeked!! Hooyah!
  17. I have two Fobus holsters, both good quality, solid and pretty cheap. I have a rear/downwards draw one for my Glock 17 with light/laser, no issues with it and a friction type holster for without. I had to do quite a bit of sanding of the holster's interior to my Glock to fit. I thought it was just because I'd bought a cheap HFC pistol as my first purchase, but I was chatting to a very knowledgeable pistol instructor called Benny at The Range on the Edgeware Road in London, he was telling me it is a common issue with Fobus holsters, so much so that many ranges in the US will not allow them on their training courses as they have seen too many accidental discharges as people try to draw them quickly and shoot themselves! (Ouch!!). But with a little doctoring (the aforementioned sanding or as others have posted) they can become excellent holsters for airsofters.
  18. Looking forward to Halo Mill this weekend! With my son and my new tracer unit too!! Whoop whoop!!

  19. Ah but come the day at the races everyone wants to be behind the Gimpy! Cuz nothing says "Feck off!!" like 7.62mm 4B1T being smashed in yer grid at 750-850 rpm!!
  20. Could be? and possibly not having been trained to use the ground, so unless it comes from experience, or you go for some training, the only way to learn is the hard way! The were some, only a few bloody good fire positions on sunday, fair play to the guys who smashed it! There's only one way to get 'em out! and that's why God invented pyro!!! hehehehe
  21. Weren't we gonna have a 314MMTRU team??! Ive got my resi and mess tins ready!!!
  22. I guess it's each to their own mate?! Depends on what they like and what they can afford! Most of my gear it MTP/multicam for the simple reason I like it! I did consider going down a tan/OG/FG route and mixing and matching the camo, but I knew that the evil little airsoft monkey who makes me spend all my money would only make me keep wishing I'd bought MTP instead! I've run around in CBA, ECBA and Osprey and it's not funny! On Sunday it was pretty warm, I had on my UBACS and a WAS DCS plate carrier, that comes with some kind of padding front and rear, but is capable of taking both soft armour and plates. If I'd have had the real deal on, no doubt i would have been "man down", I was ball bagged by the end of the day, so the real stuff would have done for me! If some want to wear it for what ever reason, to get more of a real experience etc, then go for it! I don't have any plans to remove my padding, it saved me from taking a good whack when I literally went a**e over t*t! I'm looking forward to giving Milsim a try, not going to the whole 50 degrees in the shade 80lbs of gear malarky, but definitely in to the concept of realcap mag loadings and not the "Hollywood" style hicaps! It makes you think about target ID, aiming and ammo conservation!
  23. As they would say, "looking Alli!!" It's all good mate!
