Phew, lucky guess.  It's going in a JG G36, and I'm not fussed about ROF so much as semi-auto response and being able to reliably pull the piston past a lock-up: I've had a couple of lock ups where the spring was almost fully compressed and the stock mortor just wouldn't pull it that final tooth.
 
And yup on the diode, I already have an SB260 in all my mortors will be swapping it over.

it is alright - it has some grunt
perhaps not quite as quick as a SHS HT @ 30k tops
but deffo 25k maybe a bit more
 
you could just slap that in a cheapo Cyma m4
maybe a diode and just run it for some added zest on the cheap
and it will serve you well, last a good while
and when all said & done you can gut it and use the neodym magnets
for another motor rebuild when it all croaks
 
but won't tear itself to bits like the M160 does whilst draining your battery like a gold digging GF

Phew - you got the M140
THIS is a decent-ish motaaaaaaaaaa
 
it is on par with a SHS HT there abouts
not too insane - not mega amp draw
and doesn't run very very warm, that is burns out quick
(like the insanely fast M160 BD)
 
The 140 is a torquey motor with grunt but not insane shit
 
the 160 is like the SHS High Speed - quick as fuck
but will run very very warm/hot and drain battery quickly
plus it runs so warm/hot, the 160 will heat up lots when going nutz
and bearings in the can will crap out, end bell gets hot & bearing loosens
 
basically the 160 will just tear itself apart if you start to cane it
& what you will be left with is just the neodym magnets
& unlikely to use the say 14tpa armature much from the 40k+ motaaa
 
the 140 is probably about a 17/18tpa likely a 25k to 28k
 
it is a cheap motaaa, with them tabs at the end
rather than the SHS/G&G lock ring type
D pinon - was a slightly bit different to SHS pinion
seems to mesh slightly better with Cyma std pinions
 
Now they might have changed spec slightly over the years
(likely)
But If anybody remembers Airsoft Peak & TinyWind (snigger)
in Hong Kong knocking these out really cheap with offers/vouchers
 
I bought a couple of 140's and half a dozen 160's
(plus a few shit m120 ferrite ones - yeah avoid)
wish i bought all m140's and avoided the 160's & 120's
 
imho - the 140 is the best one in the Big Dragon range
so you made a wise choice I reckon with a balanced motor as they say
 
The M120 has ferrite magnets & a blue motor tower
The M140 has neodym magnets & a red motor tower
The M160 has neodym magnets & a gold motor tower
 
D type pinion that meshes nicely or slightly better with some other bevels like Cyma stock bevels I found
 
avoid the M120 = G&P clone
the 140 & 160 are about same price
go with m140 over the 160 is you want it to last properly
 
A SHS HT will be easier to service though
but the M140 type you could drop a diode across it to reduce contact arcing without needing a mosfet straight away
 
so horses for courses as they say
m140 is a good motor upgrade for stock gun without needing to rip it all out and rewire with mosfet but use a diode
 
 
 
DON'T INSTALL A DIODE IN A G&G OR SHS !!!!
it will short out - but is safe in a TAB type motor
and does reduce arcing/spikes

dropped the ifrit from my ARP into the thing, as the SHS set I ordered should be here by mid next week, snappier than when it was brand new and gives a healthy 22 RPS rof now.

Yep, I am definitely gonna experiment more with this irregular spring theory. I've heard it in the past but never got to "play" with it.
 
SP100 is done but I still have the SP90 and I can always buy another SP100  after all it's €7.50, won't lose my sleep over that amount, plus having an extra spring in my spare parts drawer is always nice.

it is actually a ForceCore AEG, the gearbox for some reason has a bit off the top - well the front on top if you look
 

 
So you have to be careful radius-ing the top corners only slightly as a little less material up there

8mm bearings - yeah maybe change for a few bushings under gears
Metal rack piston, metal o-ring nozzle but is a short M4 nozzle, think about 20.75mm
The nozzle & hop work together but nozzle has no "shoulder" like most other nozzles & if you try a shouldered nozzle or reg shs M4 nozzle, the shoulder doesn't fit into hop
 
So if you change nozzle, you need to change hop
or if change hop then change nozzle as it is a bit short for normal M4 hops
 
Cheap Metal M4 aeg's not bad, quality isn't top notch but a lot bang for your buck considering you was looking at 34 Euro's for the folding stock
 
AY = ForceCore AEG's if you want to look into it
 
Could be worth considering for project - just to tweak and show your friend with the Ares how it should run

I'd be tempted to buy a cheap CM.517, rip the stock off, chop the front down and run with that. Pick up a folding M4 stock if you see one going cheap at some point maybe
 
But I'd try to keep the HB as it is without girly sights n stuff
Or sell it and buy/build something specifically what you desire to your custom bespoke spec
 
Hmmm, yeah I'd consider a cheap donor gun, slap on a very cheap 4 inch outer ris barrel or something
 
Or look out for a boneyard FireHawk and slap a folding stock on that maybe

I'd consider buying the CCR at a cheap price and service/tweak it to get it running right
Personally I actually wouldn't coz I don't like it, I'd go for a D-Boys PDW perhaps
(metal version not plastic one)
comes with a medium motor, but change grip & use a std long motor type maybe - but need the peq box to limit battery options but so does the CCR restrict battery options too
(it's always a bit of a trade off with these dinky guns & folding stocks)

unless you are looking at it like a sniper's sidearm
