  2. many thanks Lozart, yeah it was the active braking that caught my eye, and its good to know it seems a decent mosfet then, I was thinking of the 3 round burst version but then with the DMR in mind its probably an unnecessary feature from my point of view.
  3. Unless we're at cross purposes, it certainly does: the allen key is in the motor height adjusting grub screw, you can see the Cyma markings (CM02) on the motor cage. Although its a few years old so maybe they've done away with them on newer versions, seems a backward step though.
  4. My old Cyma 28s has the motor height adjustment grub screw beneath the pistol grip screw so it may have it?
  5. Thoughts on the Gate Nano AAB? Looking at one for my M16 running a ZCI high torque motor, helical gears 100:200 with a ZCI microswitch gearbox shell with quick change spring, 9.6/10.8v NiMh, running 350fps atm but planning 420 as a DMR. Very quick response as is, and microswitches are like £3 if/when it burns out lol so is it worth it? Views please! Edit; not trying to hijack thread, mods please move if appropiate
  6. I can only comment generally as I've not worked on the MP7, however you say problems only started it when you disassembled it, so what did you disassemble? Just take the bolt out? If so did you clean all the grease off it? Gas SMG's do need to be kept well lubricated in the right places to function properly, I have a CO2 mini Uzi, personally I find a little general purpose grease works best on metal to metal rails/bolts (rather than airsoft specific grease), and I never use silicon oil spray on these parts as its simply too light a formula (though silicon grease is great on gas routers, internal gas blowback parts etc). It does involve more cleaning/regreasing after a game (which is usually recommended anyway with gas guns) but has't let me down. As for the feed issue, does the mag sit firmly in place with no movement? The relationship between mag feed lips and the air nozzle (which usually have a protruding lug underneath to push the bb out of the mag into the hop chamber) is critical, if this lug is in anyway damaged or catches on the mag feed lips it won't feed properly, or may just jam completely. The mag feed lips equally need checking for signs of wear caused by catching on the lug mentioned above, it SHOULDN'T happen but it can, esp if the mag has any movement in the gun. This could explain the double feeding, my guess is its the mag lips at issue, though to prove this you'd need to try a new mag for comparison. New mag lips are available for most common gas guns too, though you may need to search around for them (WE are supposed to have good support for parts though I'm unsure as I don't have any). I doubt the hop is the issue as multiple bbs have already left the mag by sound of it, but a simple way of testing if there is a problem would be to try turning the hop right off, firing a few shots, then gradually applying more hop to see if the problem gets worse or better, does the multi feed problem occur on semi or full auto, or both? Also try different gases if you can? Failing that If the NPAS kit isn't available another route is to modify or replace the floating valve in the blowback housing, basically if the gun is too hot the floating valve needs the long stem beefing up a little with plastic filler to restrict flow to the bb (very much trial and error, and don't do anything irreversible), or you may find an aftermarket blowback valve part to do the same job from somewhere like Firesupport. Sorry its not specific but hopefully this might help you find the problem.
  7. So I emailed Mad Badger last Sunday, not had a reply as of Saturday, doesn't fill me with confidence since they claim they can get anything in stock from HK within 7 days. . . . !
  8. Interesting project fella, keep us posted how it goes!
  9. Nice! Yeah would def need the barrel nut off to fit the mounting plate for that, presume you're fitting a new outer barrel too? Or will the silencer fit inside the new rail?
  10. No worries, G&P seem to be very tightly put together, at least it stops things working loose though! I wouldn't recommend undoing the barrel nut unless you have to as getting it back tight so the rail sits square to the receiver is a real pain. Also the pin at the front of the lower receiver that holds the upper receiver in place is notoriously tight on G&P's needing great care to remove it if you need to get them apart.
  11. shouldn't be too difficult in theory, unscrew the silencer (not sure if its positive or negative thread. on G&P) then unscrew the delta ring (between receiver and rail) by turning anticlockwise looking from front of gun (delta ring can be very tight on G&P though!), once unscrewed the rail should then slide forward off the barrel, note there should be (if its same as the clone) 2 short steel "pins" which may fall out, don't lose these as they align the rail with holes in the barrel retaining nut which should be still attached to the receiver (this nut also retains the delta ring in place). Hope this helps.
  12. I have an old DE UMP, silencer def makes a difference giving a soft thud instead of a sharp crack, and it certainly seems quiter. Not found they do as much on M4 or AK variant AEGs though.
  13. Cheers Monty, sorry, threw in the edit pre-empting someone asking the same thing lol! Read about the technique in AI mag, and saw similar mentioned on here. Basically spray LIGHT coats of Krylon over the whole area, it doesn't have to cover 100% though, (having covered/removed anything you don't want want paint on), I used Khaki and a little Medium Brown, then after about 2-3 mins when it "looks" dry, put some white spirit on a lint free cloth (ie one that won't leave bits of cloth all over the gun) and wipe away, don't need to apply too much pressure, you will see it removing as you wipe. This leaves paint in all the nooks and crannies, and you can remove as much or little paint as you are happy with (remembering that areas prone to handling or frequent cleaning would have more wear than areas that don't). As someone else remarked, soldiers camo'ing their gun won't be trying to produce a work of art, but rather to disrupt the outline / solid colours, so I tried to adopt that approach, pretty pleased with the results though.
  14. So, been doing a spot of desert stylee weathering on my lad's M4 CQB (built from spares mainly!) and a more restrained version on my internally upgraded Cyma M16 (no haters please, first attempts at weathering AEG's lol!) Edit: done with Krylon sprayed fairly thinly, then wiped off with a lint free cloth dipped in white spirit when nearly dry.
  15. Few I've read recently: TO THE LAST MAN (Jeff Shaara, Bantam Books) WW1 novel based on facts around the parts played by Manfred von Richthofen, Generals Ludendorff and Pershing as well as soldiers on the ground and airmen. Full of historical detail including the Battle of Belleau Wood, reducing the St. Mihiel salient, Battle of Blanc Mont ridge. Much about trench life etc. Lots about the air battles too from the perspectives of the combatants, and much about the logistical and political problems faced by the Americans as they entered the war. At 842 pages its not light reading but gives a good insight into the Great War from soldiers up to politicians viewpoints. SPEARHEAD ASSAULT (John Geddes, Century) best Falklands campaign book I've read, about 2 Para and the Battle for Goose Green, written by one of the combatants. Kept me hooked throughout, genuinely a book I couldn't put down, crammed with information and interest. PATHFINDER: A SPECIAL FORCES MISSION BEHIND ENEMY LINES (David Blakeley, Orion) "Real life Black Ops" according to Frederick Forsyth, it details the authors tour of Iraq in 2003 as part of the UKSF, and a mission that went wrong from the start when plans to HALO onto their airfield target were changed to a road vehicle insertion, leading the 9 man mission to have to fight their way back to friendly forces. Found this slow to get going but really good otherwise.
  16. Sadly it seems likely you're right on both counts, particularly if more than one gun is doing it.
  17. yeah the illuminator does glow red so is quite visible in the dark, but it can be used without it, works well in starlight. When mounted on my M16 it does align well with the front sight, its not perfect but is a lot more accurate than firing blind in the dark using iron sights, equally the green back glow is much reduced without the illuminator, certainly no worse than using say a red dot sight, and possibly better. Forgot to mention it also has anti-flash technology too. I would agree that the best use would be for covert observation, sniper assistance and stag in woodland games.
  18. Some pics of the Newton 3 x 42 night vision monocular I mentioned earlier in the thread, its a while since I'd looked at it so forgot the spec! As mentioned it was bought from Aldi for about £70 iirc a couple of years ago for general use, wildlife etc (enter crude accusations here!). Although obviously not military it is designed for "sports use", is rubber armoured and its not impossible to mount it on a ris attachment as I have done. The last image isn't great quality as I had to hold my phone camera to the viewfinder (biggest drawback is there is no output socket/USB connection for recording), but you get the idea, thats my back garden wall which is very dark as no lights were on, not quite pitch black, with the Image intensifier switched on, which looks like a bright torch beam when viewed with the eye. The bright spot at top is a house window 150+ metres away across a field. The monocular will pick out that same house in reasonable detail so airsoft ranges would be a breeze. Field of view is fairly restricted as with any magnified scope. Without the IR on, visibility and clarity are still good, though not as good as with it on, obviously. It is fully adjustable for focus. Some stats taken from the box: Visual magnification: x3 Objective lens: 42mm Resolution 36 lines/mm Angular field of view 20 degrees Viewing range 250m eyepiece adjustment; diopter +/-4 Illuminator range 100m length 165mm width 55mm height 83mm weight 430g Its not without drawbacks from an airsoft point of view, such as the glow from the eyepiece lighting up your face, but with ingenuity it may be possible to overcome them. Not sure if Aldi still do these but may be worth asking if you fancy one.
  19. I picked up a compact NV monocular (1.5mag x 32 iirc) from my local Aldi a couple of years ago, not with the specific intention for airsoft but it was only around £70. Think its Gen 2, fairly lightweight, uses ambient light and has built in infrared as well which is like turning on a torch! As it has a mounting for tripods I attached a short QD RIS mount to it and when attached to an M4 the front sight lines up with the monocular so can be used to aim, voila, night gun! Drawbacks with this or any NV that doesn't seal around your eyes are that the green light from the image will light your face/goggles/mask up in the dark presenting a nice juicy target and the red light from the IR is fairly bright (though that can be switched off and just used briefly for an enhanced image). It is good fun to use and with an IR lazer, lens shield (and maybe a tracer unit) it would be awesome, but you wouldn't last 2 minutes in a game sadly! Will try to get pics up later.
  20. You could try a SHS or ZCI high speed motor, drop Pete "AK2M4" a line on this forum, may give you a discount too, thoroughly recommend his service. Just bare in mind any increase in ROF will increase wear and tear whether by bigger battery or faster motor.
  21. (on mobile) anyone know if the hop rubbers in TM & ASG AEP series (specifically the Mac10, Skorpion & Glock 18) are the same in all these models? And what aftermarket ones are available, if any? Thanks!
  22. Usually advertised price will say it includes post but some sellers specify collection only. Do your homework and check the sellers reputation in "Feedback" inthe classifieds section. Although tbh I'd recommend buying new for your first gun as you get a warranty should you get any problems.
  23. Hmmm, worrying, ah well its fair to say I've not used either company but reading their blurb MB get weekly deliveries from UNC, then send them out from their UK base, which is kinda making me think they will also try the bend over routine with double postage whammy? I'm kinda expecting my response (if I get one) to be "HOW F*##*G MUCH?!!" I don't mind paying a little extra if delivery, VAT and customs are dealt with at a stroke, not to mention effectively its being posted within the Uk. I'm not holding my breath but I will update when I get a reply. (Also mentioned this forum in the vain hope it makes them be nice lol!)
  24. Just emailed madbadger, their supplier UNCompany has the Spectre in stock so asked for quote with 3 spare 50rd mags, total of $155 before shipping, VAT, customs, courier charges so will see what they come back with.
