If you haven't already got one, you'll want the steel sear to go with that piston, because it has a hard steel ring with a sharp right angle edge fitted around the base rather than a moulded catch - it would shred the stock sear very quickly.

Good thing about mesh eyepro is it never fogs, so you'll not be at as much risk of tripping over underbrush while you're Russian... Yes, I fucking went there... I'll get me coat! [good man yourself!]

I've said it before and no doubt i'll say it again - many of the types of eyepro in common use on airsoft sites every weekend are inappropriate for the risk of BB's to the face, let alone MK5's, MK9's, TLSFX mortar rounds, or TAG rounds. It's only that full auto hits to the face a pretty rare that has saved us from a regular slew of superficial eye damage and, no doubt, the final blinding that sees insurance premiums go through the fucking roof. Is it really beyond the ken of the likes of UKARA, in conjunction with one or more major UK sports insurer, to commission a report on safety equipment in airsoft (and gonads knows they do bugger all else that is actually of any use to the sport or towards Reducing Violent Crime so maybe it's about time they took some of the fees sites and shops have to pay and did something sensible for a change)? Perhaps then, since TAG rounds are not fin stabilised A} we can stop bringing that old chestnut up, and B} since legitimate safety concerns about TAGs, which for some unknown reason always seem to be accompanied by said old chestnut, are often dismissed somewhat bluntly by people who are by now no doubt quite irritated by being asked to take a pointless game of conkers seriously, the subject can be addressed with an agenda of finding a set of standards for gear which sites can easily police, players can purchase without a mortgage, and in which insurers can be confident, rather than the all to common tendency of people to look at a problem for which they can see no easy solution and cry ban. The absolute last thing we need is any more legislation or any Govt. sponsored guidelines/clarification of existing legislation on what we can/can't throw/shoot at each other. Legislation creep is a real phenomenon. If you want MK5's and BFG's banned, ask a bunch of MP's to look into TAGs...

Maybe down to the imminence of Series 6 of The Walking Dead on Fox - ooooh, I'm almost nauseous with anticipation and simultaneous fear that they will fuck it up at last - that now there will be so many opinions of how the story should continue that the producers will literally lose the plot in amongst trying to please too many people but also, because AMC will continue to court greater success, the opinions of those people whose main motivation for watching it is fear of being thought out of touch, ie those latecomers whose positivity underpins the budget and yet is most fickle, will end up being given far more weight than those fans who have watched it because, for the most part, the plot and production thereof have been a consistently high octane version of the raison d'etre of zombie films per se, ie a scathing satire of the society from which the main protagonists emerge and more fundamentally, consumerism. One thing we can know for sure about the fickle enthusiasm of those who base their viewing habits on which lifestyle commentators approve of what shows: they have most certainly bought into modern western society and, even if they don't know it, consumerism is their credo. AMC may very well feel the need for a 'Lost-ian'* plot device aimed at making sense to, and appeasing, middle-America... I fear that Gahd, and possibly Jeheezus, may yet rear their ugly heads as simultaneously the cause and salvation from the TWD apocalypse... Yeah, well sadly we also often have to advise youngsters that there is a minimum spend to get a decent gun - it's about £120 for an AEG, £35 for a non blowback {NBB} pistol, £65 for a gas blow back {GBB} pistol, and about £35-40 for a springer shottie. You will be much better to save up than bother with the kind of crap you can get for less than that. It seems that parents are often less than enthusiastic about their offspring getting into anything which, in their minds, involves guns. My advice is to put it to them like this: going airsofting at a UKARA registered site, where there are marshals who insist on the correct use of proper eye protection, and face protection for u16, where no members of the general public can be accidentally peppered with BB's or frightened by the sight of what looks like a bunch of terrorists with machine guns, is not only much safer than backgaredn plinking, but also a lot more fun...

Well, fortunately for you (to save you from your instinct for a bargain which jbbg prey upon), Trisnpod, those Mossbergs are out of stock {OOS for future reference {FFR}} @jbbg. Trust us. We are not running a vendetta against jbbg for some imagined or real slight in the past, we are not running a vendetta at all, but warning you/anyone reading this because there are countless threads on here started by noobs who have all 1) heard about airsoft 2) googled it 3) found jbbg 4) bought a piece of shit {POS FFR} 5) tried to get a refund/replacement/repair 6) been simply ignored or lied to and finally 7) found us... 7a) we very often end up having to advise youngsters that whilst all airsoft guns are BB guns, not all BB guns are airsoft guns, regardless of what colour they are, or what FPS &/or range sites like jbbg quote. In this case there are some cheaper springer shotguns, both single and triple shot, which are skirmishable (in woodland most, but not all by any means, of them make for a challenging primary weapon and are thus often carried in over-the-shoulder holsters as secondaries, but they are fine for use @CQB sites {Close Quarter Battle = usually Urban}; indeed some people like to use a POS as a challenging primary @CQB to inflict more humiliation on their targets, but better learn some gun/tac skillz before you try that or you'll just get pwned all day long without even a hope of getting your own back), however AFAIK those 2 you picked out are not suitable beginners' primary weapons... 350/55FPS my arse - a cheap springer with a barrel that short will be lucky to produce over 300FPS if it is expected to work for more than about 5 shots, because the guts of them are made from plastic and zinc alloy {AKA pot metal/monkey metal/cheese}. Note that it says "JBBG TESTED" - well, we don't know for sure that they do not have a special high reading chronograph which they keep specifically for these tests, but what we do know is that if you fired one of our primary weapons which we know, from experience chronoing at various sites, shoots at, say, about 345FPS, those shotties would measure @least 45 less. BTW Crosman mainly make air pistols, which are a whole different kettle of fish to airsoft guns, and their POS BB guns are just a way of cashing in off people who don't know any better; Cybergun on the other hand don't make anything, they just put their label on other manufacturers' products to market them in countries where the original manufacturer has no distribution - i'm not 100% certain but i think that plastic Mossberg 500 design is made by Palco, who make a whole range of P'sOS all of which should be avoided apart from their CO2 powered pistols which, although very cheap, are surprisingly good. As I said above, if you go for a cheap shottie, get either one of the Double Eagle M56 range (which fire 3 BB's per shot & are clones of a very successful Tokyo Marui design), or one of their M58 range which fire 1 BB per shot (I can't personally vouch for their M47 range, but others on here may be able to); or an ASG Franchi SAS which also come in either 3 or 1 BB/shot versions. Is cash a major issue for you? If so, how much is your budget?

Well, as you probably know, you'll have to get an 18+ to buy any BB gun for you, but with your parent/s' permission you could try airsoft at many sites: 14+ is the usual cut-off age for UKARA registered sites' insurance. So you could rent a decent-ish gun and face mask plus, at some sites, some form of camo gear, and get stuck in to way more fun than you can have with an underpowered plinker in your backgaredn... Of course some people feel the need to serve a couple of tours in the Back Garedn for the props... war is hell, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan! [it's a long running in joke on here, into which you are privileged to be inculcated ]

So I was looking for a berezka KLMK/KZS for someone else when I came across the following. I 1st saw one several months ago, although i forget where & it could well have been this same eBay seller, but anyway I must have been skint because it's too cool to miss out on... ...the Bulgarians call it "Frogskin" pattern - £41.22 posted from Sofia! But as you can see it's a cross between Strichtarn and stripped down Flecktarn - i'll bet it's excellent camo in the rain! I'm not going to go the whole hog with a Bulgarian loadout (unless the gear drops into my lap at similar 'daft-not-to' prices) but it will make a nice base for a post apocalyptic stylee'n'ting...

Action Hobbies do a couple of springer pistols - they are pretty reputable: I've bought from them several times with no issues, however some people have reported bad experiences. That said, they are one of the larger retailers so you'd expect that out of the thousands of sales they make, some will always cock up and people do tend to shout louder about their shitty experiences than they do about the good ones. The thing to bear in mind is that a cheap springer is a very poor introduction to how much fun you can have with an actual airsoft gun, because no matter what ammo you choose, the range is going to be poor and the accuracy is likely to also be less than ideal. They are the kind of thing you give to 9 year olds to mess about with, because even if they don't listen and do something unsafe, like not wearing eyepro/shooting at someone who isn't/shooting in a direction whereby misses end up in the neighbours' garden/etc, the chances of blindness being the end result are much much less. For a cheap springer, I would recommend an imitation shotgun: something like this if you're skint/young - ignore the mini-paintballs, because they have a poor rep for splitting inside the gun, and get a pot of 5000 .12's and you'll be just about able to hit a man sized target @40m / @20m in still air you could have A4 sized target shooting competitions, but i'm pretty sure that you can get two tone Franchi SAS shotguns without paying patrolbase.co.uk to actually paint the two tone on and they are good enough to skirmish with. Another good make which is cheap is the Double Eagle M56 range (everything else DE make is shit, but their shotties are OK) but i'm pretty sure you'd have to get them from bbguns4less for two tone (they are not as bad as justbbguns whom you just cannot defame enough to actually be slandering/libelling them). BTW, how old are you?

How did you find the Nuprol 3.0 compared to Abbey Predator? At the voltages we use even a good soaking that definitely causes a short circuit does not actually prevent power flowing to the motor - i expect if you put a digital multimeter on it you'd be able to notice the difference in power delivery between wet and dry, but in use there's more difference between a fully charged battery and one that's 1/2 run down than the amount of current that can be leached by a water only short circuit and a dry AEG. The only thing to beware of really is that water tends to carry dirt into places it might ordinarily not build up at all quickly, so it's well worth giving AEG's a good clean after a soaking. Oh yeah, and if you don't already, carry your mags upside down so that even if the 1st BB gets wet in a pouch without a flap, the rest will stay dry, because a wet BB will not behave the same as a dry one in the hop up chamber.

The fan is not powerful enough, so i bought a second pair and added the both fans to one set - the trouble is that they have an electronic controller rather than just a battery and switch, so i was thinking i would be able to bodge them together onto a new battery pack with a single switch, maybe even overdrive them a bit, actually i've had to use the controllers side by side in a molle pouch. Sounds ok, eh? Well, the controllers have some kind of timer element and they do not work in synch, one seems to work better than the other... So my advice is don't bother. Just bear in mind that sites like justbbguns and bbguns4less, particularly jbbg, have a very poor reputation for customer service and also for making outrageous claims/printing outright lies about products they are selling. Those low power pistols are very poor quality - you will be lucky if they last for more than a few uses.

I switch to Pyrohide & Kevlar gloves, but since my nerve damage has got worse and the cold seriously aggravates the pain it causes, I'm planning on getting some Russian winter gloves. I also always take my DPM Goretex kecks - don't always wear 'em, but I really hate standing around in wet kecks in the cold these days. Somehow a wet top doesn't seem to bother me. As PT said it can be a blessing to help cool me down, but it doesn't seem to work the same way on my legs. I don't like the amount of noise they make when moving, but this year, if i can get fit enough to return to the field before spring, I'm going to try wearing 'em under my Russian SS Leto camouflage and maybe also my KZS as they're both nice and baggy, although the KZS may be substantial enough to hold so much water that I freeze regardless of Goretex and longjohns underneath. I'm currently researching gas for my pistols - I have a CO2 USP NBB to fall back on, but I want to be able to skirmish my Tokarev TT33 and my new P.45 Match. Does anyone know if the likes of Guarder Powerful and Nuprol 3.0 & 4.0 blow the seals of ordinary green gas mags if the temp is warmer than the cold they are intended for? I'm thinking about room temp, say 20deg, ie gassing up before I leave / having to empty them before i return. I was thinking of starting a new thread (and i may yet) but so far it seems on topic in here. What are people's experiences of Nuprol 4.0 Black in general?

Just to clarify the legal situation: removing the bright colour or covering it with tape or paint is referred to in law as "Manufacturing a Realistic Imitation Firearm" which is illegal unless the defence applies to you. In order for the defence to apply to you, for our purposes, the RIF must have been manufactured in order that it be used for airsoft. Neither the law nor the guidelines actually define what the legal test is for whether an RIF was manufactured for airsoft or not, but a photo of you using it at a UKARA registered site is without any doubt at all proof that you did in fact use it for airsoft and being a member of this forum before the deed was done proves interest in airsoft, so any potential prosecutor would be hard pressed to convince a jury that the intention to use the gun for airsoft was not present at the moment of manufacture (BTW this applies to anyone regardless of age: u18's cannot buy any AEG's 2-tone or RIF, but they can manufacture them legally). None of that actually matters however, since the Association of Chief Police Officers stated that the VCRA, as it applies to us, is unenforcible, which is no doubt why there have been no even attempted prosecutions for de-two-toning AEG's. Just to be on the absolute safe side, you could take your two-tone to a skirmish at least once before you strip/paint it, but if i were you, i wouldn't bother. The law is an ass, but it is the law and we must abide by it. That does not mean however that we must make life more difficult for ourselves than it need be. You cannot buy an RIF without a defence and in your case you cannot get proof of a defence without a gun, so buy a two tone and strip it immediately. As our sentencially challenged mate Duck says, Fairy Power Spray does work, you just have to also apply some elbow grease. Painting over two-tone is a far less satisfactory solution for several reasons: paint costs more than power spray; even if you use several coats of paint and varnish it will get scratched and obviously bright colours show up through even minute grazes, particularly against black, and look decidedly less than cool... ...which is important because looking cool is not only good for the soul in general, it is very good for moral, specifically when you're in a timed game and knowing that you are TDB and you are going to conquer and get some, etc is what is going to make the difference between your team stuck behind hard cover taking pointless pot shots at extreme range against enemy also behind hard cover, happy to run the clock down, and 2/3/4 of you leap frogging across the distance using minimal cover but suppressing the enemy with concentrated fire on their cover by those not moving so the mover/s do/es/n't get hit, who then take/s over firing as t/he/y hit/s the dirt, and so on until one of you pops round the enemy's cover and ends their participation (soldiering 101: Violence Of Action intimidates the enemy & starts with moral). Plus a completely de-two-toned gun has more resale value than a painted over two-tone.

Obviously it was a lemon from the get go. Trouble is that after all this time you may be hard pressed to get a refund. Nonetheless, as you say, 4 months is not what you should expect from any motor which was fit for purpose at the moment of sale, so you may be able to get a replacement if your negotiating skillz are up to scratch...

Yeah, I got a Desert Eagle shot into my left thumb joint from about 1m - my thumb was pretty much paralysed by pain for several days... and that hit was through gloves made from Pyrohide and Kevlar ffs! Later in the day someone got ripped up by hits which some people found suspiciously excessive so all guns were re-chronoed immediately - the culprit was found: I forget the exact deets but it was over 400FPS on full-auto (the lad was a noob borrowing a mate's gun for a change after lunch / genuine mistake / no malice aforethought / no ban), but this proved that the Deagle was site legal, so for that place 350FPS or below with 0.2's...
