At 290FPS you should use 0.2g BB's. Basically 0.25's don't give you any advantage until around 345FPS-ish (with 0.2's) - heavier than that should be left for DMR's and BASR's (Bolt Action Sniper Rifles).

Sounds like you should also read this.

The thing about buying 'pre-upgraded' guns is, are they the upgrades you would choose? Admittedly I've been out of the loop for a while, but a couple of months ago G&G MOSFET's still had a major question mark hanging over them, as in they were burning out. IIRC they couldn't handle LiPo's over 20C. Now for sure an average 11.1V 20C LiPo is better than even a VP Racing 1600mAh 9.6V NiMh, but a Turnigy Nano Tech LiPo isn't significantly more expensive than an average LiPo and delivers far more power faster... and cooks G&G MOSFET's... And that's just the most obvious issue. You need to decide if what you get for the extra you are paying is worth it compared to what you could fit to a wombat machine for the same money. But don't forget to factor in the value of hassle... both in learning to gun tech vs sending a gun to someone else and down time due to unforeseen fuck ups.

It fits the G&P fixed stock receivers and, I think, King Arms also. It wont go on a CM.028S. You can get replacement under-folding stocks. What went wrong with it, the catch (so it hangs loose)? If so you can replace it with the cheap one from taiwangun.com - the catch is no more nor less robust on the more expensive one (this is a problem i have dealt with using both the cheap one and the steel one). -

I did some 1st aid training back in the 80's and 90's too. Both were courses supervised by SJA. There was a certificate for the 2nd one but I'm fooked if i know where it is, or even if i still have it. I can't remember enough of the training to warrant producing paper anyway. Like I said, I should get retrained, but yeah "ligate" gives it away...

Thanks for that link Hmmm, it's even tougher because I've also found 2 people wanting to sell Silverback ones for reasonable-ish prices given the accessories that come with. I'm pretty impressed by the accuracy of the Silverback ones as standard - i probably would fit an H-nub anyway but apart from a plastic spring guide and bearingless piston head the gb internals are ok as stock - they even have a delayer on steel gears, and bearings not bushings, but the cylinder is unported which strikes me as a bit excessive for such a short barrel. I'm also building a franken-beta-spetsnaz though, so I suspect I wont have anything just lying around in my bits box to swap with a Bizon - so anything I change would cost me actual cold hard... the franken-gun will not be short enough for the same role, in case you were thinking "why does he want 2 very short AK's?" - I've decided I don't like my PBS-4 on my AKS-74U - it's too heavy for 1 thing, but as the barrel on a short AK with an LR300 extendible folding stock and one of those tiny rails in place of the rear sight, it will look TDB IMO... It's a major shame that the AKS-74U didn't work out as a sniper back up, but the stock doesn't stay folded properly and the mag gets in the way, even just a standard AK74 mag rather than the RPK mags I prefer in her. There's something I dont understand majorly fucked up with her also - she wont feed except from mags with the spring so powerful that keeping BB's in them at all is not easy
-
Leave your hop up setting where it was. There will be a good chance that you will not need to adjust it next time you use the gun, assuming you use the same BB's, but other things which can necessitate adjustments are temperature and humidity.

Dream Army Double O-Ring Aluminium Piston Head w/ Bearings - £6.99 posted - khmountain_uk on fleabay I don't really trust the brand, but the Magic Box ones seem to have run out everywhere for the time being. The FPS increase from these has been around 20 both times I've tried the Magic Box ones, but that has also included regreasing with CT-2 and changes of hop rubber and/or air seal nozzle. There is no doubt though that they do provide a considerable boost, which can be useful in either bringing the power of a gun using an M100 spring closer to 350FPS w/ 0.2's or, if you are also running a TBB, allowing a spring downgrade which then gives a higher ROF / faster trigger response. @NickM, you must have just chanced on areas which were popular at the time because the site is vast: sometimes you could lose a squad of 10 patrolling spread out for hours without coming across more than a couple of enemies, on the other hand if you try to get into the village any time in the afternoon you have to fight from bush to bush, because so many people are trying to do the same. I suspect that as attendance numbers increase the time will come when they do have to think about more organisation in the field, like creating objectives which run at the same time so people will divide up amongst them, but there are always going to be plenty of people who don't bother with the objectives, just wander around looking for trouble. Maybe they'll be able to spread people out by creating high value objectives on the fly - like if hundreds of people are congregating around The Fort say, create an ad hoc objective at the Fuel Dump so that at least some players will be syphoned off... maybe even individual oriented objectives, like say the 1st 100 players to report to a marshal at Sniper's Paradise get a £5 Z1 voucher...

Yeah, airsoft.tiger111hk.com have the JG for $105.06 and we get a 5% supporters discount from them... tempting at approx £80 - even if hit by customs that'd be only £96. Thing is the 900rnd hicap would have to go - the mechanism itself rattles, even if it successfully stops the BB's from rattling, and besides i've come a cropper by having a hicap in my sniper backup before - wound ready, or so i thought, went for the kill from 10m still unseen by the target... jam! So i'd have to buy a midcap, which is another $19.80 - but redwolf have the S&T for $155 which comes with the midcap so effectively i'd be paying $35 for a steel body... Where have you seen the CYMA for sale?

Hmmm so according to EpicAirsoft the Silverback fire selector is glued into the gearbox and still loose as fuck! That's a major no-no... ...but truly epic accuracy from an off the shelf gun. Team Blacksheep Airsoft review: hmmm wobbly outer barrel and stock no lock -> not so bothered by the barrel thing because I'm sure I can come up with a simple low cost bodge to sort it out, but the failure of the stock to lock folded is a potential deal breaker. I mean, shit, one of the main things I need is for it to be versatile in the way it slings and stock folded from a single point sling over my left shoulder so the gun hangs under my right armpit would have been the way i'd have tried first. If it hadn't been for the mag in it, my AKS-74U would probably have worked out ok carried like that, although it's stock had already taken a beating before the gun came to me 2nd-5th-'kknows hand, so it doesn't stay locked folded. I spose that if i managed to file the Bizon stock so that it would engage with that pin, at least it would stay firmly locked.
-
I don't know anything about S&T and i haven't read much about the Silverback either, but nothing i've read has screamed 'shite!' The mag system looks easy enough to use: you just hook the 2 prongs onto the pins and rock'n'lock just like an AK mag. You'd only get a problem if you didn't keep pressure forward keeping both the prongs locked in place so it could not shift to either side. Where have you heard that the Silverback one isn't good? I thought i'd ask if anyone i could have a conversation with has had one or had a go with one before looking for reviews. Maybe I should see what i can find as part of making this thread work for the forum...

I'm not sure how good it would be for load bearing structures on its own, but it's solid enough to form surfaces that can handle outdoors stylee wear and tear. Something to bear in mind if you plan to make anything where it covers a metal substructure is that metal does expand when heated, so if you bake your item with soft FIMO formed over metal, the metal will stretch the FIMO and then contract when cooled, leaving a gap. You would have to figure out a way of making your item in pieces which could be removed from the metal and baked (i suggest using the clingfilm method), then glued back together.

Wow that Celox is the shit! Bought an applicator of it - £23.94 delivered so yeah, not cheap by a long chalk, but it's a fat syringe so you can poke it into a penetrating injury and squeeze the powder in without having to cut the wound wider to get a clear way down to the bleeder. I suspect that you don't need more than the 6g of it when you can put it right into where it's needed and apply pressure as usual - you'd only need a big sachet if you had a huge gaping wound, but in that case i could ligate easily* enough anyway (*being a relative term... i mean not as easily as i could make a brew, but easier than i could fix a blown head gasket). I would like to buy one of the Celox gauze dressings also, but another 30-odd quid right now is more than my wallet can stand for something which will probably go out of date without ever being used.** **With any luck

Ashamed to admit it but i just spent money at onlybbguns.co.uk - £16 to get a Vz61 Skorpion midcap - fucking daylight robbery but nobody has them in stock anywhere else. The last 2 i bought cost less than that for a pair posted from HK and now i've gone ahead they will no doubt miraculously become available everywhere, but hey ho, such is life... Details So as far as I know the S&T is a clone of the Silverback for 1/2 the price. It's full metal* with plastic furniture and mag; V3 7mm gearbox, AK hop unit, and I think 240mm barrel, so it's parts compatible with my AK arsenal - I even have a Systema 6.04mm TBB which would fit lurking on a shelf. *Redwolf say aluminium, gunfire.pl say steel & zamak - I'd guess the stock has to be steel, so i'm inclined to believe gunfire. I'm thinking this could be the sniper backup I've been looking for. The mag is a 160rnd midcap, so no need to carry a spare when sniping, which is just as well because finding a pouch that would hold one wouldn't be so easy, i expect! Of course there is no forward sling mount, which would not help for what i have in mind, because it will need to be slung out of my way but not swinging around getting tangled up with SVD sling, webbing, or bushes, which is the problem with using an AKS-74U. Shouldn't be too difficult to put an eyebolt through the handguards though... So whaddaya hear, whaddaya know? Help me decide whether to buy one please

The thing to bear in mind is that soldiers don't get paid much, when you consider what they are called on to do for the money (in between long bouts of make-work and playing at it with blanks). The only way you're going to get people to be prepared to risk their lives is 'esprit de corps'. The sad truth is that you can reach a lower common denominator by teaching them to find common ground with each other because they are all against someone/thing else, than you can by trying to teach them all to be for someone/thing. I mean, the queen? Really? Who would risk the steam off their piss for some uber-rich old dear in a big house? The British Government? Lying, expense fiddling, sleaze-meisters doing their best to feather their own nests before they'd lift a finger to help a constituent, and even then they'd only do it for the publicity... A rag on a pole? The bloke next to you? Who is he? He hates lefties, liberals, and walts too, he's alright...

Do you find the mag pouches restrictive on your SAAV, Nick? I bought one in US Woodland camo before i knew my arse from my elbow and couldn't get it to work with any mags except STANAG so i sold it. My modern Russian loadout is just about complete: Kit List: VDV KZS Berezhka Jacket (Kecks not shown) in size 3 Splav Sniper harness Splav Suharnaya back pack Unbranded Sniper Belt Rig (4xSVD mags + 2 F1 Grenades) TO PKM 100rnd Belt pouch Unbranded Double Flare Pouch MilTek Comms pouch ACM 1.5L Hydration Bladder (w/ Camelbak stylee dtachable bite valve & tap) Unknown Pistol Lanyard Generic Drop Leg Pistol Holster Modified Condor Dump Pouch I'm considering buying some modern Russian summer boots - ...they look pretty comfortable and at £56.73 posted the price isn't such a kick in the bollocks! But I'm also wanting to get a Russian pistol I can skirmish anywhere, so probably a WE TT-33 (which will come in at about a oner with a spare mag posted), although I am sooooo tempted by the Gletcher Grach, but it would need valve mods on the CO2 mag/s to bring it down to 1.1-ish Joules and it has no hop, so it really would be £200 almost wasted - sooooooooooo pretty tho
