  1. A British Army Northern Ireland Chest Rig - £10.40 delivered ffs! Fleabay, of course...
  2. Yeah James, one issue is that I can't afford to use them a lot, so I'm hoping I can use them just for skirmishing. But my prescription is at least as much for astigmatism as correction, and the main correction I need is varifocal, because I'm long sighted anyway, but, now I'm an old cnut, focussing close up is getting to be really hard. Can you get varifocal & astigmatism correction in contacts? Yes, but only monthlies... The optometrist thought going mono-vision was the way forward. A distance lens in my right eye and a close up in the left... er... depth perception lol! So I'm going to give astigmatism only dailies a try and just hope that the extra retina cells helps me resolve details close up...
  3. That's good news, Ed. My King Kong Burst Wizard has arrived so there's nothing I can use as an excuse for further procrastination over my G36 rebuild. Hopefully ready for Tac House too...
  4. Garden tarps are heavier and not so fire resistant, mate. Plus army tarps can be press studded together in a way that keeps rain from leaking through, and they pack smaller. Something else you might be interested in is Czechoslovakian military surplus bedding roll with bivvi bag. It's a 3 layer system and cheap from a few peeps on fleabay. If you add a £10 civvi sleeping bag to it, it'd be good for 4 seasons. Well, with a foam mat anyway... Oh yeah, tip on foam mats: you can spend a 'kin fortune on them, but what you get for the extra money over a £10 one isn't as much as you get from buying a really crap £5 summer type (that is frankly not much use on its own for anything) and gaffer taping (like duct tape but black, £5/roll) the two together along their edges. You could do the north face of the Eiger with one like that for £20...
  5. Yeah, on the few occasions I think about Scenario X, I feel a sense of security in having the gear I'd need like kevlar, SAPI plates, respirator & mil-spec filters... a sword ffs! I think you should give skirmishing wearing it a go. See how well you can adapt. Push the role play... Oh yeah, and you can get surplus DPM tarps on fleabay for about £20 usually.
  6. I've got reign my airsoft spending in for about a month because I need new specs badly. But I'm going to take the plunge and give contact lenses a serious go so I can wear them under mesh goggles. Wish me luck
  7. I love that idea and reading some of t'internet's conspiracy sites is simultaneously some of the most mind expanding verbiage and the most surreal comedy available. I've thought about it. Not zombies, the collapse of the US dollar. I wonder, would it be best to be prepared for as much as possible, or go as lightweight as possible? The thing about survival is that even a single night in a hastily made shelter and basically relying on a mylar blanket to retain body heat, while the ground, via damp insulation foliage, is sucking the heat out of you, is a 'kin nightmare. Unless you're in excellent physical condition, literally one cold damp night can take so much out of you that any advantage you gain in increased mobility, through carrying less, is more than lost by lack of energy... Are you going to skirmish carrying your day pack?
  8. +1 Sort of ATACS meets Flecktarn! I think the masking could have been better. Maybe clear tape and a scalpel to conform to the trades very closely, or a plain circle perhaps.
  9. That mag is pretty, Junior. Are you going to do a whole AK like that? PS can I pm you to pick your brains for help when i come to paint my G36?
  10. I like that stock, Dazzer, what is it? I think a sound hog flash hider is the way forward.
  11. I've tried Krylon paint. TBH I don't think it's so much better than Plasti-kote that it's worth the extra money. But then again I haven't used specialist primers for particular surfaces. The thin layers thing is crucial with it though as it forms drips easily. Has anyone used this brand of paint before?
  12. I think they're cool as a Tag Heuer watch at the south pole. But they're expensive and heavy and you don't gain any range on other AEG's so there's no practical reason to get one. I mean, yeah, you can get 3000 BB's in a box mag, but you can get normal sized Hi Cap AK mags that take 700 BB's. About the only time i could see 3000 BB's needing to be fired, and gaining a tactical advantage by not having to reload, is in a massive game where you needed to keep the heads of 50 ppl down...
  13. I'd go with Olive Drab furniture, but worn looking, like Juni0r's Glock but green. Then use scrim net wrapped loose-ish and witrh bunches around the handguards. Uploaded with ImageShack.us That's my L1A1 with scrim around the handguards + a bit of camo net nylon squiggly bits.
  14. What gun is it and do you mean US Woodland pattern camo?
  15. Yeah, that reminds me of a clip of footage from a helmet cam from Afghanistan. The brits were taking fire from about 300m away and this squaddie lay down to set up an L86 on bipod to return fire... I thought then, "Where's the 'kin box mag?" The last SUIT sight I saw on fleabay went for something like £700 - it was so expensive that I've blotted the exact figure out of my mind lol! But I've found somewhere that may be able to supply one for less than £200 though. Still, I'm seriously looking into NV gear @mo so there's no SUIT me sir on the horizon for a good long while probably. Oh, and I couldn't resist this for £7.98 delivered:
  16. L86 DMR? That's a bit strange... U know ARRSE? Yday there was a rumour that the L1A1 might get another outing with the SAS - apparently they've ordered a load of 7.62 ammo... looking good for my black loadout if so (assuming I can get my poxy thing working again).
  17. Yeah that is a ball ache, Ed. That pic on LW doesn't look like helical gears I've seen. I spose it must just be a stock 'gear pic'. Not to crow over your misfortune, but I'm pleased you've gone for helical gears. I've read conflicting reports about them being noisier or quieter than ordinary gears, so I'll get the story from someone I know isn't a dick. I tried to get the G&P 551 w/ EOLAD Laser from Redwolf UK but they're out of stock. They're getting a couple in week on Monday...
  18. HFC AG. 7.65MM Pistol(Black) GNBB ~ $31.50 - it's sufficiently Pistolet Makarova-like to go with the Soviet loadout I'm putting together. There are only 2 others available - a KSA that fires @428FPS and one that is 80% RS parts and fires .177 steel BB's grrrrrrrrrrrrr! Systema Hop Bucking - $8 -$3.76 Discount + $32.41 Shipping (gulp) From UN Company (They advise EMS because of the gun-like object.) Vintage Soviet Russian PM Brown Leather Holster for Makarov Pistol ~ £14.99 - for the HFC pistol. Soviet Mandate of a Delegate of the USSR Communist Party Conference ~ £4.95 - for the lols...? Soviet Poster Fridge Magnet 7 x 5 cm Original Image from USSR Propaganda Poster ~ £5 - for more lols / last 3 £20 delivered after negotiation - fleabay. Oh aye, and I bought 10 pre-'91 Ruble banknotes (1's, 3's, 5's. 10's & 25's) for £10 t'other day as well. All I need now is the KGB ID, a walletski and a couple of bits of detritus to put in it for the full effect Burst Wizard KK Plug & Play MOSFET (King Kong) Deans ~ £31.57 Delivered (inc 5% discount for FB wall whoring) from AW
  19. Ah, well yeah, you'll have to show me. I've got a tiddler of an allen key you can have, but as you say, if ever we skirmish 2gez again lol - the 30th in Chesterfield is pretty much a definite for me tho - i'm using my various medical supports all the time that i should to try to make sure I'm definitely fit lol! Still, you can hardly wait that long...
  20. I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and say there was an ICS Turbo 3000 motor involved...? I've got one of those league tables too: Systema Parts 0* - CYMA stock parts 1, Cyma stock parts 0 - Prometheus Parts 1 (sector gears) * Plus a red card for obstinate failure to follow the rules - no, apparently Systema V2/V3 gears are not the same as everyone else's - the bevel gear is slightly too wide. Have you considered that a good dollop of grease may have been the solution to both these issues? I know that airsoft aficionados recommend cleaning the excess grease out of gearboxes, but, as a matter of principle, all things being equal, more grease = less friction and less corrosion. Where did you get the 105 spring from, Dazzer?
  21. Yeah, 2 eps in and I have hopes for it still. I thought they missed an opportunity for proper dark humour when the ambusher got shot, but in a way, which I believe is probably beyond the scope of their deliberate intent, or even ability perhaps, it was pretty funny in an existentialist way.
  22. Not bad for all that then. Hmmm... I was expecting some truly eye watering amount lol!
  23. Not me... As ever i'll be bucking the trend and when shorts become de rigeur, I plan to be wearing some kind of Ali Baba stylee muslin kecks
