Mate, as an audio professional let me just tell you what I call the company you have just referred to - Belongs-In-The-Bin-Atone.
To be fair to them, their gear does last, but I wonder if that's because people try their best not to use it unless they have no other options so it doesn't get the same amount of wear'n'tear as kit that you love. The problem is that they appear to believe that the best balancing act that can be achieved between cost and quality involves sacrificing decent shielding, which results in interference, ie hums, hisses, and break-in from transmitting radio/wireless equipment.
Anyway, the Z-Tactical Bowman-copy headsets, one of which Ed will soon have, are good, reasonably priced and look cool... I'm also happy enough with the Z-Tactical PTT with the 2.5mm TRS jack for Motorola Talkabout series and XTR446's (which also fit Cobra MT series).
BTW, does anybody know of any patches which say "Chairborne Infantry" on them?
