  1. If it were me I'd fix the mags, 3 mags has always been enough for me as a side arm, 2 probably is, you can get better gas for the cold, which you couldn't when I started out.
  2. I found so far as gameplay is concerned people tend to be more gung ho. I've always thought the idea wasn't to get shot, but I realise you can be effective and die often.
  3. Maybe they were thinking it was initials, like HK, I dunno.
  4. Well DNA is an abbreviation. I can see why younger people might not realise your supposed to say the whole word, but it's not always the case is it.
  5. I thinks it's just function of ppl wanting more... When I started playing there were no MOSFETs or lipos. Everything was DIY. Other activities I did over the years started using more techy things but Airsoft said NO! Then eventually started saying ok, use a lipo (but don't use a good connector), better use a MOSFET with those new lipos... Well if your using a MOSFET you can have burst and all sorts of other goodies... And finally we are seeing brushless motors, which I like, but aren't necessary. Mechanically very little has changed, there are lots more aftermarket stuff, because well Airsoft toys are flakey, even the good ones with QC get upgraded.
  6. The tethering, the cost, the magazine's, carrying a bottle. Hpa is not cheap at all, but it's a better gas for guns. Cost/benefit for me is unacceptable. Same for GBBR, cost/benefit wise.
  7. I looked at this type of thing a while back, but ended up opting to rebuild the mags and get a range of gasses for the conditions. There's 2 ways, One, you put a connector into the fill valve, you need a working mag the line(with regulator), adaptor and bottle. Changing mags is going to be a chore. Two, you get a mag to fit your gun with space for another mag to go inside it to hold bbs. In addition you need a line as before, with a bottle. You will have a pistol tethered to you now, which may or may not be an issue.
  8. I've put rain X or similar on the outer lenses to keep them useful. The a version for plastic now. Rain and visors was a terrible combination without something like this on them. Anti fog on the inside, rain X on the outside.
  9. Ironically membranes like this only work when they are dry, they get wet and you soak yourself from the inside since they become plastic bags. Hence the dwr on such things. I gave up long ago trying to keep feet dry, one or two pairs or wool socks soak up a fair bit of moisture and you can change them out at lunch. If you are going to get your feet a little damp it won't matter either way and if your going through puddles, or standing in water, leather or the membranes will result in the same result, wet feet. Some feet are sweatier than others of ofcourse so some might get on with membranes better. I change my socks out, I find it more comfortable that way. I have the sealskin gloves too, very nice gloves but mine are too short to keep the water out.
  10. I've always had a thing about selector switches and had to fettle them so they feel right. The geared ones seem have too much play and the others, well they grind or somesuch. Bushing the geared ones is doable but alot of faff, but almost the only way unless maybe enhance the detent in some way.
  11. https://www.specialistsealingproducts.co.uk/restore-damaged-rubber-seals/ Have a look here, see if you can reuse at least some of the non standard types. Simply bearings have o rings of all types. https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/Products-O-Ring-Seals/
  12. If the hop has been moved or adjusted, then yes.
  13. Thanks for the replies and info. As I see it there's two silencer type sound issues, the sound wave coming down the barrel from the piston hitting the cylinder head and the 'pop' from the escaping air at pressure after the BB exits the barrel. Foam might deal with them both. ALtho I rather think the sound might overtake the air moving down the barrel unless the BB exits before the piston slaps that cylinders ass. Ive probably got enough to think about, don't want nerdish overload. Altho I have used silent coat on my car before...
  14. Old pants are my go to. That and IPA like Colin says. Cotton or poly cotton works fine if it's clean, the IPA will dissolve the dirt and oil etc.
  15. I thought I had a handle on this thread, now I don't.
  16. Cool, I'm slowly putting my sd6 together, it's silencer has foam already, I'll have a play when it's firing again.
  17. I know these are used cosmetically but has anyone used these to reduce or mask noise in Airsoft? How effective are they? Anyone do anything in particular to make them effective? I'm aware that there's significant noise from an aeg gearbox or gbb slide or bolt which will be unaffected. I'm also aware that cylinder to barrel ratios matter in this respect as does the amount of piston slap in the cylinder, so the amount of noise generated varies from gun to gun. I've seen some threads in other forums from way back when, but I wonder if we've moved on in any way.
  18. The .25 is at a lower speed I think. Still needs a 90 maybe 95 to take the edge off.
  19. I bought a spring from ak2m4 and its .55mm, so way better in my view. The .7mm has fewer coils too so it makes it even stiffer than just having fatter wire. Tappet plates always look fragile, I guess it's the thin tail the fin thing hangs off.
  20. If it were me, I'd take the barrel assembly off, remove the sights, the rear sight holds the bolt in. Remove the bolt and then separate the barrel end from the rear part. Mask off the insides. The lower part I'd mask off the trigger and remove the mag release. Remove the safety button. Mask off the internal bits at the top.
  21. Check the slide spring is in the right place. Ignore that ^^^, it cycles but doesn't return to battery?
  22. Back in the day most stuff was DIY, now you can buy stuff you don't need to mess with. Depends on your skills outlook and wallet depth.
  23. The spring in the cyma has .7mm wire, another from either the src or we has .6mm. That's quite a significant difference and my mp5 doesn't have a rate of fire more than those other 2.
  24. Colder magazines will fill better, new gas going into the mag will equalise the temps until the mag cools the gas down so adding gas then waiting and then adding more gas is the way to do it. It's hard to overfill a mag but I'm sure it's possible with some effort, unless the mag is designed to keep a bubble of gas in the mag when filling. You can hear the liquid gas going in with your ear to the can.
  25. I've always used the foam buds for hearing protection, I don't think I've ever played anywhere noisy enough to require them tho.
