  1. Nope, inserted the right way. I did continue to play with it before i came to work and the selector does sit flat ish on the gearbox. I've put it back in the reciever and, apart from forgetting to put the selector spring back in, it selects fine. I'll finish it off when i get up tomorrow and report back.
  2. Ok, I really shouldnt be having a look as I dont have a good track record of doing things when I'm on nights . . . but Ive just pulled the selector plate off and the underside is already recessed in the two areas that sit over the bearings. I'm going to leave it for now and put it all back together properly over the weekend and see how it goes. 👍
  3. Last night shift tonight so I'll pull it apart at the weekend and measure everything.
  4. Its not money wasted, its a valuable lesson on you get what you pay for. You may have bought a pos this time, but next time you'll know better. 👍
  5. you're right, they are lipped so will only go in one way, it's an almost new rif so no massive wear and tear and they are a snug fit anyway. I've just seen that there are low profile bushings but, to my mind, that's a backwards step going from bearing to bushings? Unless I do just the one? I don' know.
  6. So, I finished work early this morning and rather that go straight to bed I got on my hands and knees to look for the missing anti reversal latch spring from Wednesday afternoons shenanigans. Much to my surprise I found it in the exact place that I had looked when I first lost it! So, all rebuilt, which is great but I didn't need to purchase a complete gearbox spring set and gearbox clip, but I now have a different issue! I shimmed it but a couple of the bearings now protrude out of the gearbox. One of them is causing an issue that it sits underneath the safety selector switch and interferes with it. It protrudes by 1.12mm I've had a look but you don't seem to be able to get thinner bearings so what do you suggest? Admittedly, I haven't played with it properly and it might be fine but I'll have another look later on after some much needed sleep.
  7. You need to be really specific about what actually breaks, how it breaks and what you do to resolve it. Pictures or, ideally, a video will help is diagnose whats wrong. The vagueness of your description is of no use. As you say, they are complicated things with many parts that can go wrong.
  8. What part breaks? Have you got any pics of the broken bit?
  9. Hi, Have a look here for local sites - playairsoft.co.uk First couple of times you play you dont need to buy anything. You can rent it all from the site. Once the bug has bitten you though, a good set of eye protection and a decent set of boots should high on your purchase list.
  10. Yep, cant go wrong with the Nuprol cases.
  11. Who's stupid idea was it to try to put my gearbox back together when getting up after being on nights, and being so cack handed that the anti reversal latch spring has flown off and disappeared off into the ether? Oh yeah, that'll be me!!!!!!!

Ak2m4 has a gearbox set with one in for a few quid, so I'll be getting one if those shortly.

Spoon carving knives are particularly lethal! I've seen more cuts from those than any other knife....

Get the gearbox clips while you are at AK2M4

  12. I've successfully reshimmed and got stuck getting it all back together, so I've left it on the table until my block of night shifts is over then I'll try again. I know they're not premium but are they that bad?
  13. Time to see if I can rebuild as easily as I can take apart!
  14. I take it that too much grease, in a gearbox, is as bad as no grease?

It was like a mix of ear wax and dog poo.

If you ever fit bearings, too much grease will seize them up.

  15. Yes, quite true. Im ordering shims for my G&G so the MP5 might get done too.
  16. Bloody hell! Another skill I'm going to have to do to a half decent standard! lol
  17. Its already been shimmed. 😁 Not if.the giy I bought it off did it or from the factory. Im actually surprised how much grease is alteady in there! I was thinking about cleaning it up a bit. Im put at the moment but I'll take some more pics later.
  18. Going into Wrexham today so will pick up an M100 or M90/95 spring for my G&G, from the new shop. So, first time taking apart a gearbox in preparation. 😳 Im reasonably technically competent but old eyes and fat fingers might get in the way!
  19. I've recently got a G&G GC16 and had just had a similar issue. I was given an 800mAh 11.1v 20c battery with it, which is very close to the recommended spec but put it in this morning, after having a fiddle with the stock, and got the two beeps. In this case I had pulled the battery wire and separated the 2 small spade connectors that go from the etu/mosfet into the rif. Reconnected and it fired once then just went dead. Swapped it for a Li Ion 7.4v 2500mAh 30c and its fine again. Luke/Negative Airsoft said on one of his videos a while that the etu/mosfet is a pile of poo and should be replaced but it seems to be fine on 7.4s. I just plugged in the 11.1v to check and it works fine!!!!! EDIT: fired a load of shots with the 7.4 and plugged the 11.1 back in and got nothing! Not even a beep! Got on the balance charger now.
  20. oh my good god no! I hate rattle. That's why I want mid caps. Even my bunch of house keys is one key on one loop with a detachable car key as I don't like bulk, or rattle! lol
  21. I bought a G&G GR16 mid cap and it fits and feeds lovely but it's snug. Like, very snug, it takes an amount of force for it to slide in and secure but there's no rattle which I like. I found the actual one that's supplied with it, it's an M series but seems to only come in high cap, which I don't want. I did notice that there is a difference in design in the, what I presume, locking tab/slot. The first picture is the supplied mag with the little raised bit above the slot and the bottom one is the new mid cap with the raised bit at the bottom. Any thoughts why?
  22. No pics but a new G&G mid cap mag. Its very snug and takes a little effort to get it in but theres no wobble and it feeds fine. A 20mm quick release riser for the Warthog as the red dot is a little low. The acog is fine but i dont know which I'm going to use yet.
  23. We need an "ow, my eyes hurt" emoji! 😂
  24. Maybe that's the whole point? "Yes love, of course I'll sell them", says he to his wife. Then he gets to keep them because "they're not selling love!" lol
