  1. I was just going to say something similar. My G&G is very fussy but the Nuprol metal ones bloody fantastic.
  2. Apparently I'm now ranked as a Mentor! I think they've missed the De off the beginning!

  3. 2 games days to report on today as I've spent both mornings at different sites. Firstly on Saturday I, @sofieb, @LuckyBoi and a 4th played at Outpost Airsoft just outside Chester. Due to work commitments with 2 of the youngsters and me still only being able to manage a half day, we played just the morning. This is the 4th time I've played a morning here, 2nd for the 2 youngsters with work commitments and first time for the other hanger on. The mornings seem to run the same, a raise the flag on the long thin map and an attack/defend on the bunker map. Each map played twice from opposite ends. There was about 40 players, with a good amount of rentals. Game play was quick but a couple of the rentals couldn't quite get their heads around calling their hits and no full auto. There was quite a bit of negativity amongst the players about it but I know of 3 that reported the indiscretions to the marshals. Not sure how that played out as it was as we were walking back to the safe zone before lunch, so the end of our day. Overall though, It was a good morning. Good comms between my band of merry men, and woman, and lots of hits were given due to my now laser like pew. After talking to a couple of regulars about always playing the same maps, they told us different ones are used in the afternoon. An afternoon will have to booked. Apparently there are, I think he said, 17 different maps on the site which wouldn't surprise me as its huge. Secondly, today I played at Shropshire Airsoft War Games at Netley Hall just south of Shrewsbury. Again, I only played the morning but what a morning it was! I've no idea if there is more than the area we played on but with the double decker bus, vans, cars, caravans and every other kind of barricade imaginable. The ground was generally flat but there are trenchs, dips, rises and lots of rabbit/fox/badger holes. I do like flatter playing areas. First game was a standard tem death match with 'kills' being counted by a marshal as you respawned. We lost both rounds but on the second game it was very close! I'm happy with that. There was about 40 players with only 2 rentals, a young lad and his mum, so game play was fast with some of the best comms I have come across. Third game was raise the flag, we lost that one too but I don't really care. It really was one of the best days airsofting I've had. I've ran, or rather hobbled quickly, on both days which is a massive boost for me. I thought my recovery, from my broken leg, had plateaued but evidently not. Its now just making slow progress but any progress if good.
  4. Went back and adjusted my sight the other way last week. At around 40m its pretty spot on. 😁
  5. Bloody good find. Ta muchly.
  6. Anyone know what's going on at the above site? It is on my list of places to play this year but their website has gone down and the faceache page doesn't seem to have been updated in an age. I'm sure it was operational early on the year.
  7. Morning and welcome. I think you'll find yourself in good company here as we mostly seem to be old and out of shape. Where abouts do you play?
  8. I agree with @gavinkempsell. There are too many 'issues' (missing pins, ex 2 tone etc.) to ask anywhere new money. £130 is more realistic but expect lower offers.
  9. That's not a bad idea.
  10. Somehow it posted before I had finished typing! I blame my stupid fat fingers!
  11. Took my G&G to a private field today to try to zero in my clone Eotech. Essentially I have used it straight out of the box. Apart from the spring palaver! So, apart from using it in game, it's never been played with! So, I set the hop to zero, and fired a few shots and there was a bit of range but in a typical bowed downwards trajectory. Kept on turning it up, a little at a time, until it was nice and level ish with a little upward kick at the end. Put on the sight and it's shooting high so I adjusted the image up as much as I could but it is still shooting over the image at about 50 yards. I've just thought, I should have tried adjusting it down too! Anyway, apart from adjusting it the other way, any thoughts or is it new sight time?

@DanBow no, NTAH. Flexing on the poors? Maybe, but if someone thinks that £30 is too expensive to be sacrificial then I'd say airsoft is not the hobby for them.

@Skara thermal? Depending on nm range there is fairly inexpensive (relatively speaking) Germanium lens protectors on AliExpress.

Well you pay your money and take your chances, get lucky and your sight will have a full and rewarding existence.

If not you get a new sight and start again.

      Stay lucky @DanBow.....

I tend to use some form of protector on both my torches and optics - it's all rather cheap/easy to do, and doesn't affect the optics quality (at least in terms of typical airsoft use - and with the notable exception of the protector that I put on a replica eotech that warped the image so much it made it unusable). I buy a number of perspex ready cut discs in various sizes off ebay, and fit them to the front of scopes held in place by a flip up scope protector cap or a self adhesive ring of foam purchased from aliexpress, and on front of torches using a 3d printed collar. £1-2 per protector vs £30 or more scope...

  14. Had another morning at Outpost Airsoft, just outside Chester, with @sofieb yesterday morning. We also took one of the barmen from my local pub too. He's only a young 'un, comparatively speaking, and played a couple of years ago so had his own kit. We had been tormenting him with tales of how much friendly fire he was going to have to endure but when it came to it, neither of us could do it. He's a nice lad and I didn't want him to spit in my beer! First game was a standard raise the flag. There were, in fact, 3 flags. Well, 3 spinning crosses with red and blue ends that had to be pointed upwards at the end of the game to win. The interesting part is that it was a timed game of 20 minutes with respawns for the first 15 minutes then hit and out for the last 5. On the whistle the barman just sprinted towards the middle to try to gain an advantage. I seem to remember laughing at him as he walked back to respawn before I had even hobbled to the first obstacle! I won't go into details but there was some good gameplay from both teams, good hit taking and lots of action. The part, of the impressive sized site, we played on was narrow (30m ish) but about 100m long with respawn at each end so not too far to walk back to, which I did a lot of! There is lots, and I mean lots, of cover, obstacles and structures to get around. All well laid out to not really give you a lot of cover. You've really got to your eyes and not focus on one point. It makes for good game play. The second scenario was called the Research Lab. As the whole site is a disused WW2 airfield/training site there are plenty of old buildings dotted around, one of which was the Lab. There was a flag in the middle of a compound built around it. The objective is to remove the flag and not allow the defending team to put it back. Again, well laid out area with some choke points and open areas. I even managed to run at the start of this game as we were the attacking team and all decided to just rush them. All in all it was another good day there. It was my second time there and Sofs and the barman first. We all enjoyed it and will probably get memberships there. One thing I do need to do before I next play is get my rifle sighted in. You can see the bb curving up at about 30-40m but my holo sight is nowhere near. I was trying to guide them to the target but it wasn't working. Definitely going to mess about with the hop as I've literally took it out of the box and started using it.
  15. Popped along to their new shop in Warrington a couple of days ago. It was their grand opening, in the new premises, the week before. We'd never been before but saw them on on ticktock and Instagram so as it was only 50 odd minutes away @sofieb and I went to have a nosey. By their admission, it's the largest airsoft shop in the UK and having now been there I tend to agree. I've only been to a couple of others and, generally, they have all been quite small affairs. I couldn't say how big the actual shop floor is but it's big. There must be a couple of hundred individual pews, rifles and pistols, on display along with every else imaginable. Well, everything else imaginable for airsoft! There are mostly 2 of each showing different colour options and all are free to be picked up and tried on for size. The staff were really nice, if not a little full on with following you around and offering help, and said if there's any that we want to try they will load it up and you can have a go in the indoor range. The indoor range is very nice, only about 10 metres long but with 3 or 4 individual bays, and paper and electronic targets to shoot at. There's not as lot of parking on site and when it's busy you will struggle as it on a small.industrial estate next door to a gym but don't let that put you off. Oh, and there's a pool table, comfy sofas and I'm sure I saw a coffee machine. 😁
  16. My regular site is hot on safety too. It's never a bad thing.
  17. Went to play at Chemical airsoft in Ashton under Lyne on Monday. Posted a review here.
  18. New thread to start fresh from the old one. My daughter and I played here last night, Tuesday 18th June. It was a bit of a trek for us, 60 miles to the opposite side of Manchester at rush hour! Still, only 1hr 40m, a lot of that was sat on various bloody motorways going a walking pace! Anyway, easy enough to find and there was plenty of parking. The staff were friendly, the shop is only small but has a few pews, the normal consumables and sweets, drinks etc. I did like that there was a parts/broken bin for you to rummage through but I forgot to have a proper look before we left. I did see a shotty with a broken stock though, probably good for my bank account that I didn't have a proper look! It looks like we're both becoming patch whores and made a beeline for the "Chemical Airsoft" Velcro backed patches. There were 2 designs, one was glow in the dark, so naturally we opted for those but were quietly shocked to find that they were £15 each! Don't get me wrong they are very nice patches but we didn't expect them to be that much. Still, 2 were bought as whoever said airsoft was a cheap hobby? The other was design was £12 so still a little pricey but not filled with some glowing radioactive nonsense! For a 3 hour session it was £15 each which I think is really good value, especially as @sofieb doesn't really get time off at the weekend to go to other sites. Right, gameplay. Bloody brilliant. Apparently there are 2 parts to the site, the part we played on was quite small. It's a very close quarters combat, with lots of obstacles and spawn points are never more than a minutes walk away so your right back in the action. The site looks like an old manufacturing facility with long corridors, punctuated with barricades and open doorways that lead off to another room/corridor. Before the game started one of the marshals said that we, Sof and I, could go and have a look around as it was our first time playing there. I did wonder whether my CG16 would be too long for the quite confined space but as my MP5 has no light, and it is quite dark with lots of glow in the dark and LED lighting, I went in with the long'un and my trusty WE P226. At the start of the evening there was only 8 of us playing. I did have a 'oh no, this is going to be shit' moment but thankfully it wasn't. Chrono was dealt with quickly, safety brief was ok. Apart from my eldest semen demon and I, the others seemed to be regulars. I, at 51, was definitely the oldest and there were all a couple of teens too. There was at least 2 HPA pewers and a youngish chap, in full MTP camo with an L85. Then the rest, in civvies may have been rental but I'm not sure. Most games were team death match and it ran very fast. The final game was a raise the flag game, I think my team won but I was having too much fun to care. The small site made it fast paced and, as I've said, the spawn points are not far away so your only out of the action for a minute or so. Its single shot only so my bb consumption was quite low but I did get lots of hits, and got hit a lot. Even got a couple with my 226. Made me very happy. There are a couple of points that caused a raised eyebrow though. Firstly, the chrono/briefing room is about 5m square. Shots were fired through the chrono towards the opposite wall, rebounding everywhere. Not a massive problem, we all had eye pro and face masks, which are mandatory, on but there were far better places right by the door to the safe zone to do this. Secondly, the marshal was quite happy for lots of shots being fired in that room while we were stood there. Again, no real problem but separating the chrono from the briefing would have stopped this. Thirdly, at the end of the evening, as we were packing up, one of the marshals got out his very shiny . . . . thing . . . .to show us! He did say what it was but I cant remember, its like a skeletonised short body that runs on air and magnets! Very nice but certainly not a RIF. Anyway, he puts it together, connects the air and starts spamming the trigger to show how quiet and lovely it is. This, I didn't like. Yes, we watched him assemble it but a safe zone should be a safe zone with no dry firing. Overall though, we both really enjoyed it and will probably go back but the drive to get there and home is off putting.
  19. Played there last night but am going to start a new thread for my site review to keep it, hopefully, a bit cleaner.
  20. Both my daughter and I have been using these since we started. Brilliant bit of kit but it does leave a small section of the bridge of your nose uncovered and that attracts every stray bb!! lol
  21. Need a couple of barrel socks so got my sewing machine out. Mine is just a plain camo thing but did something nicer for my daughter.
  22. Couldn't use one of mine, it would melt the barrel!
