as long as it covers the front of your optic any would do, that's the same style I use, thinking about locktite ing the hinge tho as it either falls forward or folds back during gameplay (depending which way I attach it).

Yeah, I'm stuck for which to chose tbh, I'm more likely to use the scar in game but the G3 & the XM have the kewl factor for me. not likely to fit a scope to the xm as I like the retro look, would possibly fit a period clone scope to the G3 as I'd expect it to have a DMR range, the scar would have every addition available added coz I'm a bit dickish like that (already planning on using a PEQ, can, light & foregrip I already have).

Talking of mags... OMG, are all GBB mags as rare as unicorn shit or is it just Xmas rarity?

I can't really add much to the advice above but if your pews are knackered (in your eyes), list them for sale in the classifieds here, some of us (ok, me) buy for a collection and never expect to use them in game. I'm probably a typical newbie to airsoft and bought too much stuff (no regrets), I found clothing & kit easy enough to find on fleabay and cheap enough to buy (I'm a big fat lad & still found clothing in my size).

thanks. It is... I have one. Hadn't considered the AUG but I have an A1 AEG & only really crave the AUG LSW which is as rare as unicorn poo. I have a couple of FAL's already & don't fancy lugging a GBB battle rifle around in game, (besides my FAL AEG is too hot for my local site & already have 5 pews getting down graded or 'fixed') Thanks, I'm tempted by an L85 but sidelined it as I already have 7 in my collection & the only 'new' feature would be it's a GBBR. I do want an L119 at some stage but will wait of prices to drop before I commit to either A1 or A2 & by the time that happens I'll prob be looking for a KS1 I already have a couple of G36 AEG's but they never light my fire to make me want to use them in game, got plenty of mags for them & a couple of rigs to wear especially for their mags but no desire to use the G36 in game yet I have a G3A4 AEG & a prop G3 and despite saying I'm not keen on lugging a GBB battle rifle in game, this is prob one I'd consider. Interesting choice but I have an AEG version & it's heavy as hell. lol, hense my seperate budget for mags. I already have an TM MP7 GBB & a Vorsk VMP1 GBB, looking for something more rifle'y

Just seen the Colt XM177E2 Gas Blowback Rifle when I ggogled VFC... looks tempting.

Following on from a conversation on the forum earlier tonight it got me thinking... I know I'll get myself a GBBR at some point in the new year and would like some of your opinions please. I tend to buy versions of pews I don't already own (a mix of props, replica's & AEG's) but like a mix of each 'type' and have aquired a few AR15's, AK's, Bullpups etc, each one is slightly different from the next, but I tend to use my SCAR or L85A2 in game & bring a third to use if I fancy a change, a pew is too hot or fails, basically I'd like to use each in my collection but like some more than others. So, I'm looking at getting either... a Tan Scar-H GBBR(WE seems to be the only choice) or an M4A1 SOCOM GBBR(but I already have 2 AEG's)(like the idea of the realistic take down) or an H&K 417 GBBR(for some reason I'm not keen on the 416 looks, despite being almost identical IMO) or Mk18 GBBR Do you have any strong opinions regarding any of these? (yes I've read through the other posts in the forum dut they tend to be focussed on one pew). My budget is likely to be around the £500 mark with some wiggle room, mag prices seem to be fairly standard from most sites so that's a seperate budget. or do you have any other suggestions for a GBBR?

Not at all Dan, that one's been on my L85A3 for some time. This, however has sat on my desk waiting for my L85A2 to be repaired (only moving to have a battery installed).

Just plinking in the garden so far, like I said only used AEG's in game so far. I know the kit is heavier, & I said we carry too much stuff so I expect it's a compromise to be made, I typically carry more mags than I'll need (current kit has 8 mags hi caps or mids depending on pew), a mix of realism-ish & stupidity. I honestly think experience is key (getting more each time I play), Everyone whose commented so far has valid points but I don't think it's harder... time will tell if gaining more experience will change my mind.

No, I have some GBB's and I know they're fun to use... just don't see how they're harder. Adds to the realism but not harder. Again this adds to the realism, not difficult to carry an extra 1000 bb's & gas bottle (most of us carry too much kit anyway) a stream of 'white' bb's isn't hard to find the source (with the exception of single shots) true but trigger discipline helps which comes from experience (few new airsofters, will spend a wad on their first pew so more likely to use or buy an AEG). Yes, but not harder. again, yes agreed but all that comes from experience. I'm not dissing GBBR's in any way, I just don't think it's harder. My perspective is... I'm a newbie so 100% so far have played only using AEG's, I have a cheap two tone Scar-L that I love to use but after a few games I now bring a selection of pew's (all AEG's), to use in game. I've used hicaps & midcaps depending if I want a bit more realism & which kit I'm wearing, I don't usually carry a secondary but have recently added a gas pistol to my kit for those oops moments. I occasionally slip into spray & pray mode but less than in my first few games, I now consciously pick my shots more whether I'm using hi or midcaps or not(as a result of a spray using mid caps during an embarassing assault). It's probably no secret that I have a few pews in my collection, only a couple of my SMG's are gas powered but most of my secondary's are gas pistols, I know that at some point I'll get a GBBR to use in game (not to hang on my wall) but the cost of a single gas pew means I'll be more selective in this choice, which leads me to an earlier point... experience tells us what we like & how we want to play, what we want to use & even where we to play... owning, using & maintaining AEG's, GBBR's or HPI's is different in many ways but I don't consider any of them harder than the next. Thanks, already got the SL20, the rest is harder to find tho. I've got a fore grip & mount (fyi, they have an SEF kit with fore grip, lower & mount) in my basket but in a quandry... not sure I'm willing to spend $300 to convert an MP5 just for the looks.
