  1. The boy’s got a 1911 that appears to possibly be a WE Kimber and the magazine’s gone defective. There are no markings, bar “45 ACP” on the barrel at the ejection port, externally or internally and doesn’t have the frame rail that I’ve seen on other images, although it does appear to be drilled and tapped to take a screw on adapter. Help in identifying so I can buy the correct replacement mag appreciated! Either that or I’m forking out for a new sidearm…
  2. I picked mine up for £65 off EBay, right place right time to get that good a deal. But if you’re looking at £200-300 on a second hand TAD or similar, then the Carinthias on Kit Pest are well worth a look.
  3. Those would be the Carinthia ones I suggested but were poo poo’d. Kit Pest do them for about £200 in grade A or EBay has cheaper ones that might have a little more wear. I have one and it’s excellent.
  4. As per Jacket above, definitely no DDPM bergen was ever on issue to green army, the only DDPM nylon gear was patrol & ECM/radio packs (and side pouches for same), MOLLE vest/pouches and early iterations of Osprey armour covers/pouches. As for “them”, who knows…!
  5. Maybe consider attaching the drop leg to the PLCE belt, especially when you get the yoke for the kit - it’ll take the weight off your trouser belt and alleviate any mid-skirmish “bear shitting in the woods” impressions…! As far as “Milspec” PLCE set up, the generic used to be one double ammo on the left and then 4 utility/water bottle pouches filled with useless crap! At least, that’s what my skinny frame fitted.
  6. Looks like a circlip - basically a circular spring that prevents loosening. If it is, you’ll need circlip pliers to remove it properly, or you could bodge it with a screwdriver and prise it off, just be careful it doesn’t fly off somewhere!
  7. Slight hijack, and appreciate this is the GBB forum, but… AEG version owner here, just wondering if anyone’s done the ambi to single sided mag release catch conversion? Can’t seem to find anything easily with a Google search. Ambi safety is great but I find the body side mag catch constantly gets caught on kit, not lost any mags yet fortunately. (As much as I would like to go for a bit more realism with GBB, I don’t play enough to justify the extra commitment. I do use low caps though so please forgive me… ?)
  8. Second hand issued Carinthia PRG off of the Ebays. Good enough for the Poole and Hereford crowds, Goretex Pro, well made, tough and reliable.
  9. ??? do you have any teenagers?! Already tried, answer “good innit”. Ok I paraphrase but he has no idea what he’s trying to achieve, he just thinks shiny = betterer.
  10. I haven’t been doing this airsoft lark long enough/need to do more research to understand the point of the whole raft of upgrades eldest is asking for, for his 16th birthday, to his G&G ARP9 so after some guidance… List as follows: Gate Titan RetroArms CNC anti-reversal latch Prometheus non-linear spring MS170 Prometheus EG 16:1 hard gears Maxx CNC double o-ring air seal nozzle Maxx CNC M4P hop-up Maxx CNC steel aluminium spring guide thru hole Maxx CMC stainless cylinder Maxx CNC alu double air seal & damper cylinder head Maple Leaf super macaron hop rubber I appreciate some of it will affect performance and some of it will be purely cosmetic but, when asked, he’s not been able to define what he wants to get out of the upgrades - ROF, burst, consistency, etc. He is, after all, a teenager and therefore thinking with my wallet and his mum’s bank account… What’s everyone’s thoughts/advice?
  11. Thanks dude. Yeah, already taken the head off but it looks like I need to somehow unscrew/remove the led unit from within the head - it’s all one piece, there’s no separate bezel holding the lens to the head. Sure I’ll figure something out…!
  12. Unfortunately this happened over the weekend - the lens on my torch got shot out. Obviously I had a protector that had just arrived but hadn’t got round to fitting it… ? Any ideas were I might be able to get it fixed…? ?
  13. Carlisle based and looking for any techs/servicing close by. Which might be a challenge, I know, as nowhere’s near Carlisle… I know of Tactical Geordies in Newcastle and I get over that way occasionally for work but I guess I’m going to struggle for anybody closer. TIA for recommendations.
  14. They take the place of, or sit alongside, the rear plate in a plate carrier.
  15. Err… Yeah… Already found that out!
  16. In reference to others’ comments about intentionally dazzling other players, real world application, etc… (Although the Russians probably won’t care too much!) the Geneva Convention prohibits light weapons that cause permanent blindness. Similarly, although this is only a game/sport we play, any negligence in the use of laser/light emitters that causes primary or secondary (like the eg above about somebody dazzled running into a door) injury, permanent or otherwise, would be an offence under UK law. As good a torch as it is and as diligent as the user is, I’d caution against using something so bright in close quarters to other players.
  17. ‘Spose I should introduce myself after lurking and the odd post over the last few months. The eldest’s got me into airsoft last summer when he came to stay for the hols and it’s certainly got my interest. Mainly something I do for a bit of father/son bonding/fun than in my own right though and it’s difficult to get to decent sites from Carlisle - I’ve been to Raw War with work for training, so the closest is NSC an hour away or Adrenaline or Northern Alliance just over an hour. Fairly standard set up of MultiCam along with a Gen 5 Glock and a HK 416A5, as I’ve got lots of Gucci green kit left over from my previous career and it’s nice to reinforce muscle memory for the current one.
  18. Be cautious of transferring all that weight you’re currently carrying into a chest rig - you’ll end up with back problems instead! Lighter is better whether that’s belt, chest or vest. During my service I’ve gone through the full cycle of what’s ally - NI chest rig, massive belt kit, battle belt, shooter’s belt, back to chest rigs and belt kits and my knees and back are fubar regardless. Somebody else referenced Project Payne, it’s been around for at least 10 years, and eventually spawned the current popularity of shooter’s belts. But… There’s a lot more to Payne than just carrying less kit in the assault. The problem is/was the inability to properly resource the unit logistic chain and the lack of mechanical mobility in the British Army. Virtus addressed some of the kit issues but logistic and mobility problems persist, plus the ever increasing amount of battery hungry electronics, which is why some troops have gone back to full belt kit.
  19. I’d say there’s two issues here really - first one’s the delivery being left on the doorstep, unfortunately, as others have said, post-Covid it’s a fact of life, factor that with the huge increase in online shopping and demand for delivery, drivers are on a tight schedule. The second, and perhaps more important, is the fact that it’s clearly a RIF sat on your doorstep - I’d say that’s bad practice by the seller and it should really be fully wrapped and not obvious. My two’penneth - I had a RIF delivered by UPS, wasn’t in to accept it so it went back to the depot and I arranged to collect from a local pickup point. The package was also fully wrapped, so if it had been left, it was just any other unidentifiable parcel. But I’m lucky, DPD, Hermes, etc, round our way are all pretty good and we know, by sight at least, the drivers to exchange pleasantries with.
  20. Very nice… ?
  21. If you want mil-spec realism, the British Army currently uses the Gen 4. There you go, gold standard justified for you…
  22. Brand new out of the box Umarex VFC Glock 17 Gen 5 GBB running on green gas. It picks up a BB from the mag but stops with the nozzle/slide about a centimetre shy of completion. Pushing the slide forward results in the metered amount of gas discharging from within the frame, BB stays in the chamber. The slide doesn’t appear to catch on anything. I’ve read of issues with over insertion of the mag due to a ridge at the top of the mag well that’s not present on the Gen 5 and have ruled that out. I’ve also wiped off the original oil from the contact points between slide and frame and relubed to see if that was the problem. Tried the mag that came with it and a spare ordered at the same time. No joy. Help/ideas/suggestions appreciated…
  23. Thanks pal - when I searched for any posts earlier, those picks came up and I did wonder…
  24. The boy was gifted a Hera Arms CQR but is not overly taken by the ergonomics or looks (bless, poor teenagers), so I was looking at some simple mods - namely replacing the combined stock/pistol grip with separate parts. A new stock should be the easy bit as a bit of searching reveals there’s a standard buffer tube underneath but not sure about suitable pistol grips? Anybody done similar and can recommend parts and any pitfalls to avoid (and show pics of the conversion for inspiration)? Ta
  25. Fab, thanks ?
