  1. They take the place of, or sit alongside, the rear plate in a plate carrier.
  2. Err… Yeah… Already found that out!
  3. In reference to others’ comments about intentionally dazzling other players, real world application, etc… (Although the Russians probably won’t care too much!) the Geneva Convention prohibits light weapons that cause permanent blindness. Similarly, although this is only a game/sport we play, any negligence in the use of laser/light emitters that causes primary or secondary (like the eg above about somebody dazzled running into a door) injury, permanent or otherwise, would be an offence under UK law. As good a torch as it is and as diligent as the user is, I’d caution against using something so bright in close quarters to other players.
  4. ‘Spose I should introduce myself after lurking and the odd post over the last few months. The eldest’s got me into airsoft last summer when he came to stay for the hols and it’s certainly got my interest. Mainly something I do for a bit of father/son bonding/fun than in my own right though and it’s difficult to get to decent sites from Carlisle - I’ve been to Raw War with work for training, so the closest is NSC an hour away or Adrenaline or Northern Alliance just over an hour. Fairly standard set up of MultiCam along with a Gen 5 Glock and a HK 416A5, as I’ve got lots of Gucci green kit left over from my previous career and it’s nice to reinforce muscle memory for the current one.
  5. Be cautious of transferring all that weight you’re currently carrying into a chest rig - you’ll end up with back problems instead! Lighter is better whether that’s belt, chest or vest. During my service I’ve gone through the full cycle of what’s ally - NI chest rig, massive belt kit, battle belt, shooter’s belt, back to chest rigs and belt kits and my knees and back are fubar regardless. Somebody else referenced Project Payne, it’s been around for at least 10 years, and eventually spawned the current popularity of shooter’s belts. But… There’s a lot more to Payne than just carrying less kit in the assault. The problem is/was the inability to properly resource the unit logistic chain and the lack of mechanical mobility in the British Army. Virtus addressed some of the kit issues but logistic and mobility problems persist, plus the ever increasing amount of battery hungry electronics, which is why some troops have gone back to full belt kit.
  6. I’d say there’s two issues here really - first one’s the delivery being left on the doorstep, unfortunately, as others have said, post-Covid it’s a fact of life, factor that with the huge increase in online shopping and demand for delivery, drivers are on a tight schedule. The second, and perhaps more important, is the fact that it’s clearly a RIF sat on your doorstep - I’d say that’s bad practice by the seller and it should really be fully wrapped and not obvious. My two’penneth - I had a RIF delivered by UPS, wasn’t in to accept it so it went back to the depot and I arranged to collect from a local pickup point. The package was also fully wrapped, so if it had been left, it was just any other unidentifiable parcel. But I’m lucky, DPD, Hermes, etc, round our way are all pretty good and we know, by sight at least, the drivers to exchange pleasantries with.

Peltor Comtac Gen1 active ears, FL6AB y-cable, boom mic, FL50101 PTT. The PTT’s currently wired with connection for Sepura STP 9000 series radio but could easily be rewired for alternative radios by somebody with the tech skills. Price reflects that they need rewiring for commercially available radios. Used a handful of times and in excellent condition - because of what I’ve used them for, they’ve been well looked after.

  10. If you want mil-spec realism, the British Army currently uses the Gen 4. There you go, gold standard justified for you…
  11. Brand new out of the box Umarex VFC Glock 17 Gen 5 GBB running on green gas. It picks up a BB from the mag but stops with the nozzle/slide about a centimetre shy of completion. Pushing the slide forward results in the metered amount of gas discharging from within the frame, BB stays in the chamber. The slide doesn’t appear to catch on anything. I’ve read of issues with over insertion of the mag due to a ridge at the top of the mag well that’s not present on the Gen 5 and have ruled that out. I’ve also wiped off the original oil from the contact points between slide and frame and relubed to see if that was the problem. Tried the mag that came with it and a spare ordered at the same time. No joy. Help/ideas/suggestions appreciated…
  12. Thanks pal - when I searched for any posts earlier, those picks came up and I did wonder…
  13. The boy was gifted a Hera Arms CQR but is not overly taken by the ergonomics or looks (bless, poor teenagers), so I was looking at some simple mods - namely replacing the combined stock/pistol grip with separate parts. A new stock should be the easy bit as a bit of searching reveals there’s a standard buffer tube underneath but not sure about suitable pistol grips? Anybody done similar and can recommend parts and any pitfalls to avoid (and show pics of the conversion for inspiration)? Ta
  14. So, first post, after advice/suggestions please folks. Got an Umarex HK 416A5 (the full size, not Sportsline) and looking to expand number of mags I have beyond the hi-cap that came with it. Ideally I’m after adjustable lo/mid, lo or mid cap mags. Not bothered whether polymer or steel type. I picked up a Nuprol N Mag adjustable to try out. It fits but is very loose - a little bit of wiggling and it drops out. Any suggestions for mags that might fit the bill and be a more secure fit? Thanks…
