  1. I believe they are a slightly different design; I don't think the Macaron has the internal ring. My Lancer has steel bushings.
  2. Hmm, I have a Macaron in a Lancer G2; it slid in like the proverbial and works fine with a standard M4 length nozzle. I bought a second hand Lancer very cheaply to see if they were as bad as most people said; apart from it being incredibly picky with mags, I have found it to be ok. Admittedly, I have never fitted one in any of the other units you list, but I have them in a wide range of hop units.
  3. In the UK, AK2M4 sells the Macaron and nub for £9.50; the ZCI hop unit is the same price. I am not sure why one would need to buy a ZCI hop unit to run ML rubbers; they seem to work in a range of hop units. A decent decision.
  4. I completely agree; many milsims in the UK seem to take it far too seriously, to the point where all the fun is sucked out of it, in the deluded belief that they are genuinely simulating military operations.
  5. They are reasonably easily available, are a decent price and decent quality; what is not to like? Having tried both, I agree that the MR Hop gives slightly longer range; however the Macaron gives significantly better consistency at a slightly shorter range. Of the two, I will take consistency over a good range over inconsistency over a slightly greater range any day. Why bother when Maple Leaf rubbers and nubs are easily available? There are other ways of getting excellent trigger response than building a stupidly fast gun. While there are a few players in the UK who seem to delight in hurting other players (Wanking Cumstain for one), many more seem to respect other players and regard very high speed builds as being somewhat unsporting and ungentlemanly. I cannot remember when I last used full auto in a game; I also play at a couple of sites that have a 30m minimum engagement distance for full auto, Luke is a windup merchant who loves trolling and has stated that there is one inaccuracy in each of his videos; however, he is also a very good tech who builds some impressive guns and has creative approaches to solving problems. I don't agree with him on everything and his comments on the Ares L1A1 are odd; yes, it has significant issues and is a pain in the arse, but some of the things that he mentions are just not accurate in my experience. One difference that I have noticed between UK and US airsoft in general, and I have to point out that this is based solely on YouTube videos, is that some of your countrymen seem to suffer from a toxic combination of taking it far too seriously and possessing the maturity of a two year old. I would also point out that, by virtue of this being a forum, the denizens are probably not a representative cross section of the UK airsoft community. The cool kids generally do not use forums and lurk on various new fangled social media platforms. I suspect that the average age here is higher than that of UK players overall, the level of experience is greater and there is a more considered, informed and reflective approach.
  6. I did cut up a very old and very knackered sniper rifle though.
  7. That does not exclude it being available at the end of the year, although it is unlikely.
  8. He did also say that it was covered.
  9. If you don't currently have a permanent airsoft repair bench, set one up before you get the Ares version. However, I do have to say that Negative Luke is overly critical of it and, in some areas, wrong.
  10. I bought it here: https://www.brairsoft.co.uk/product/double-bell-pdw-polymer-body-black-808/ £94.95 and free postage.
  11. Plastic; it is much more solid than the old DBoys one.
  12. Nothing very exciting; a Double Bell KAC PDW. A quick reshim, new pistol grip, high torque motor, ZCI 6.02mm barrel, Maple Leaf 60 degree Macaron and Gearparts 70 degree nub, new spring, new nozzle and a CHiLUN ETU.
  13. Nice! That was a decent little boot fair. I do miss the ones at the school.
  14. Yes, we were on a rolling retreat in the last game; one life in the woods, another anywhere between the border and the mortar pits and the final one in either the mortar pits or the field.
  15. Yesterday, 260 of us turned up at Airsoft Plantation for a day's play. The large safe zone managed to hold everyone but it was fortunate that the weather was good as a fair number of players had to set up in the open. As AP is a large site, it was able to absorb such a large number of players without feeling crowded; games were vaguely coronation themed to the extent that they involved kings and crowns, the titles on which included such well known British monarchs as Burger King and Porn King. Both sides played hard and well and hit taking appeared to be good. As usual, the marshalling was on point, being relatively low key but always where and when it was required. At lunchtime, the food van served 240 people in an hour, which is pretty impressive; apparently, the food is very good, although I cannot vouch for that as I always take my own. For me, one of the highlights of AP is the rapport among the players; the site seems to attract the "right type" of player, whatever that is. This morning, I went to an airsoft boot fair in Kent; despite being somewhat on the small side, there was a good selection of items for sale, including something that I had been seeking for a while. I bumped into a couple of folk who still play at sites where I used to marshal; one of the sites appears to have improved massively due to investment from the current owners so a trip down there is being scheduled. Weapons used: APS UAR LCT PP-19-01 No weapons were melted or burned after yesterday's play.
  16. https://www.tacticalairsoftshop.co.uk/ElectroRiver7-4v-Lipo-battery550mAh-for-AEP-with-Mosfet It has a micro Deans connector. Ignore the "with Mosfet" element.
  17. If true, that should exclude them from ever running any event again. Yes, they are only BBs, but threatening to shoot at people’s cars is unacceptable and could result in a charge of criminal damage. As for refusing to allow people to leave, that is potentially false imprisonment, which is ironic, given the site.
  18. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that was the reaction; some people just do not get it.
  19. No, definitely not; this was a one off (probably). I thought Townshend was a smasher rather than a burner; Hendrix burned a couple of guitars.
  20. Miguel from CAMO usually, but not always, runs the days at Tower for Airsoft Plantation with the marshals usually being from Airsoft Plantation. Regarding the PDW, the one that I was working on was ancient. I believe that the Double Bell plastic version is somewhat better; the metal one is very decent.
  21. So, today I was again at Tower Airsoft in Essex. In addition to my CYMA based MPiKM and my unknown make AMD 65, I had the lad's G&G C7 with me as he had not used it since September 2022 and was keen that it got a run. I also had my partially completed ancient DBoys PDW build, so that I could check its power output with the hop properly set; Tower has a long straight path with trees at the end leading away from the range, which is ideal for setting up hops. In addition, I took my old CYMA electric pistol because I still want to believe that they are viable airsoft weapons. Arriving nice and early, I went out to set up the PDW; it shot perfectly at what the site chrono said was a decent power level. Unfortunately, the quality of plastic from which it is constructed is so poor that the mag catch managed to smash the very thin piece of plastic that prevents it collapsing into the magwell once the magazine is removed. I also tried the electric pistol and finally had to accept that my desire to believe something does not necessarily make it true. There were about 105-110 players present, which is a lot for what is quite a small site; there also seemed to be more miniguns than I have ever seen on a single game day, along with a fair number of rentals and two of the smallest players that I have seen in a very long time. The day was good, with the usual well though out games, including one in which the attackers had to secure a smoke grenade that was in an ammunition box in the village and transport it to the bridge, where they had to set it off. We were defending first and the attacking team eventually broke into the village and secured the smoke grenade, which they immediately set off; listening to, and remembering, the game brief is important! When the game was turned around, we did not make the same mistake. Both legs of the game were great fun with elements of both sides outflanking each other and turning up behind the opposing team, leading to a degree of paranoia which resulted in a lot of "friendly fire" kills. Great fun! On returning home, I concluded that the PDW was no longer viable; after stripping out the gearbox and everything else that was worth saving, I was left with the nasty cheap plastic externals. Therefore, the best thing to do was to set fire to it, so it went into the fire flowerpot where it burned and melted nicely; having acquired a taste for burning and melting airsoft items, I then did the same with the electric pistol. Great fun!
  22. That was exactly what I thought; I am currently spending far too much of my working time analysing ChatGPT and similar AI systems and their output.
  23. It was what you said: "CO2 is primarly for cold weather when regular gases couldn't cycle your pistol anymore and even then you should be gentle." Is green gas more convenient? Does changing a capsule give you a headache? We don't find either of those statements to be accurate. My son uses his a lot; I use mine somewhat less, but neither of us has encountered any significant issues over several years. The key advantages that we find with CO2 are that it gives a lot of shots per capsule, you don't need bulky gas cans and it is much more reliable. What you should not do is run CO2 in pistols that are not designed for it; that could be problematic.
  24. Nonsense! My son and I have been running CO2 pistols for a few years now at all times of the year, without issues.
