Help choosing my first AEG please (Double Eagle M9XXX) :)
RostokMcSpoons replied to Coupsty's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
To fit in the stock stock (har har), I used the likes of a Turnigy Nano Tech 1200 mAH stick battery (and I rewired to a Deans connector) You'll need a couple of those for a day's skirmishing. (I'd need 3 as I'm a trigger-happy chap) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143013311203 You might be able to find this cheaper elsewhere (should be £15), but it's hard to find stock. Edit: These guys are cheaper and will fit a Deans connector for a quid (worth doing), but the £8.50 p&p is a bit harsh. You might want to invest in an extra mag, and some BB's in the order to make the postage cost a bit more palatable! https://www.targetszone.co.uk/turnigy-111v-lipo-3-cell-1200mah-2010-p.asp Edit 2: "Bugger". I've just discovered I've broken the cardinal rule of owning a DE, I left a battery connected to it for more than a day. I've killed my battery (a chunky Titan Li-Ion which ain't cheap). Don't do that -
Double Eagle M906C - Internal upgrades / tinkering
RostokMcSpoons replied to RostokMcSpoons's topic in Electric Guns
Luke at Negative Airsoft has just published an upgrade video of an M906C He gives it big love I think mine has definitely started to run at a lower RoF than it used to, really time to get a replacement motor in, and by the contents of this video I should crack open the gearbox to check the o-ring and piston etc are all ok I'll need some Brave Pills, nurse -
The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread

I had an excellent airsoft day, thanks to the enormous kindness of @Cannonfodder who gifted me a bunch of SIG mags he was no longer using... it's made the gun skirmishable, and more handsome... You sir are a gentlemen and I owe you at least a couple of pints if we ever meet! Thank you ☺️ -
That's excellent news, looking forward to it. I haven't yet found anything that will remove my cheesed screws from the hop unit, so I'm stuck with whatevers in there for the moment. The TNT barrel setup would at least give me a simple replacement so it's tempting if it turns out to be good

So I'm going to have to watch a bit of an awful series now ? I sent the mag off, will get to see how good the adapter is...

Raven 1911 HI CAPA GBB trigger not working
RostokMcSpoons replied to Robby47's topic in General Help
A vote of confidence for the TM D.O.R. from me, it's a great pistol that has worked even in the cold of winter. I am thinking of getting an M9 as an alternate, because I think they do look very cool, and I like the double action trigger as that means I don't need to leave the gun cocked in my holster. Or a Glock, though I'm wary of the newer versions with their big mag release buttons being famous for losing mags. If you go with some flavour of TM then try to get one of the newer models with the enhanced 15mm Blow Back Unit, and the thicker mag. The extra gas and power give the best performance. This includes the DOR, the 5.1 Hi Capa, Gold Match, the FNX-45, PX4, M9 and the newer Glocks. There's a list out there somewhere**. Be careful as different versions of the same gun may or may not have the enhanced BBU, and if you're going with TM and their plastic slides, you might as well get the best of them. Alternatively, if you want the feel of a steel slide and are prepared to lose some performance*... Well I'll let other people make recommendations there. * Where performance = ability to spam the trigger without getting cool-down effects really quickly. You'll probably get more raw performance in terms of FPS from most other guns as TM's run at 'only' 280-300fps but have a very good range and accuracy regardless. Good ol' TM pixie dust in the internals! ** Edit: here's the list from a 2 yr old reddit post, I'm pretty sure the M9A1 can be added to the list, and it's missing the H-Capa Gold and the DOR which definitely have the 15mm unit... "The following TM's have the 15mm enlarged cylinder: USP, USP COMPACT, M&P9/PL, Beretta Px4, HK45, FN45x, G19 GEN3, G17 GEN4, M45A1, V10 Ultra Compact" -
We've had quite a few spammers today, for some reason. Very satisfying knocking them on the head

... it's got a laser that probably used to be on a shark, and it's see-through like an iMac, what's not to like?

I added a restock alert on the Airtac website, for the Odin adapter. It's just popped into my inbox https://www.airtac.me/shop/p/vfc-m4 Now the thing is it's £30, whereas the eBay adapter will only cost me the price of posting my magazine off to the chap to create the adapter (that's how he works... He'll then add it to his shop for sale at the normal price) The eBay version is rather less impressively made (judging by the pics), on the other hand the WE M4 version sells for only £16. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ODIN-Sidewinder-Hand-Crank-Airsoft-Speed-Loader-Adapters-/223829128666 I guess I'm going to try it out, I'll lose a mag for 2 or 3 weeks, but it'll be useful to try it for you guys

My boots have arrived! Very good condition, good size (fairly snug, once I'd put some cushion insoles in them - I hope my feet don't swell tooooo much through the day) Very happy at £38 inc postage off eBay (a one-off sale, though the seller does quite a bit of surplus stuff). Noticeably not as much ankle support as my high-top para boots (well, duh) but a good deal lighter and more comfortable. M'wife keeps on at me to go on some 'power walks' with her... as I can't find my proper jogging trainers anywhere, I think I'll wear these instead, get them moulded to my tootsies in preparation for the next game day.

Ah, I was echoing the 'great film' for Nobody The Covenant... decent, agreed! Sniping in films is almost universally awful, isn't it? I just watched The Mother where J-Lo teaches her kid to shoot, where the target basically fills the sight picture of the scope ... and naturally she still manages to miss - to leave room for improvement
-
It's a great film though
-
As I mentioned in the '416 thread, "The Covenant" on Amazon Prime seems to contain VFC HK416 A5's ?
-
Apropos of nothing, but my child-like excitability... I watched Guy Ritchie's "The Covenant" on Amazon last night. Pretty decent film - a slightly low-budget-y "Lone Survivor" meets "The Killing Fields" kinda thang. The thing that got me hitting the pause button a couple of times was the fact that most of the Yank troops were noticeably rocking HK416 A5's through most of the film. Given the recent chat of Mr Ritchgie's disavowal of using real-steel on his sets from now on, the faked gun flashes, and absence of slow-mo brass flying around (maybe they CGI'd the brass, I can't say I noticed any), it got me thinking "he actually really is using my gun" as I don't think there's an obvious A5 GBBR other than the VFC...? Simple pleasures for simple minds...

@Impulse I'll be interested to hear how you get on with running a chest rig + belt, as it's a combo I'm considering, as I too am finding the heavy GBBR mags (and / or bags of BBs in my pouches) are quite a thing to deal with (my belt has a harness but being slightly fat it must still be moving around a lot so I was giving everyone a flash of my bright-red-not-very-tactical boxers on Saturday whenever I was grovelling around for cover!) -
Air sniper, read and learn ????
-
I was talking to a chap at Spec Ops, he was considering a swap deal with someone in Northern Ireland. Luckily he'd not committed because he thought a GBBR might get too much attention from the authorities, might get seized, but I cautioned him there's a scammer over there. I'd never ever do a swap to NI
-
Yup the only thing that tickled my critical faculties was the fact the 'in stock' figure wasn't changing between sizes, and the large figures for those 'in cart' meaning most of the stuff should've sold out already. Lucky escape though, because my appetite for a bargain could still have carried me to the checkout page!
-
Yeah fooled me too, but thankfully the fact I'm waiting on a pair of boots already had me considering my options just long enough not to get caught by it. I was even thinking of buying several pairs to resell on eBay once the sale had finished, so I could have ended up on the hook for a lot Thanks for letting us know @Duff Beer
-
Sorry to hear that. £17 is taking the budget to an extreme ? My boots were marked on evri as delivered so I went to the pick up shop. They don't do Hermes or Evri, so feck knows where those boots have actually gone. The eBay system gave me the option of that store so it's broken. What a pain in the ass. They're good boots at a great price, and I'll probably never get them now. Meanwhile my clompy para boots actually were fine through my half day, they just felt heavy once it was all done and I was toiling back to the safe zone with my two guns and heavy backpack

I just wish I'd asked for it be posted to my home, but given my current 'between contracts' status (i.e trying to save cash), and the big fuss I'd made when clearing out the shoe cupboard ("why do you need so many" "what a waste of money, you don't even wear them" etc), then I thought it'd be better for me to go collect them when t'wife is at work
