  1. While it is a good idea to run around with a few lo cap mags to see what the downside is like, make sure you do try the GBBR's to experience the upside. Otherwise it's not fair ?
  2. Yup, it's this I think I paid a fiver for a pair? Here you go... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Breakaway-Tackle-Development-Co-Ltd/dp/B006SIBGL0/ref=asc_df_B006SIBGL0/ There are nice aluminium zoom levers for not that much more cash, but this works great BTW - has your TNT barrel/hop kit arrived yet? Keen to hear how you get on with that!
  3. The TMs seem to be the most consistent, accurate and gas efficient guns. But the key thing is their resistance to cold weather, which also makes them the least affected by cool down effects. If you have to 'mag dump' then they won't be chugging as much when you're getting to the last few shots from the mag. That also aids snappiness in semi auto. (My VFC 416 is great, I love it, and I've never actually felt the need to mag dump, so maybe it's not the defining feature!)
  4. Great fun, the recoil and general theatre of something that feels like 'real steel' makes firing every shot so much more exciting than pinging away with an AEG (though of course that has its own charms) Just be aware that it's a very different game play experience, it's more like sniping as you'll be conserving ammo and probably be sticking to semi auto. The mags cost a lot and the loadout will be heavier. The gun probably won't be as accurate, it's louder so the enemy will know just where you're coming from... So trade-offs, but definitely worth it ? I'd go with the MWS, not that I've used one yet, but the reviews make it clear it's a brilliant gun. Definitely on my shopping list (if I don't go with the Double Eagle clone)
  5. Sorry to hear that. On reflection those HPA guns might not have been shooting hot, but they might have been throwing some heavy BBs. Whatever the reason its not great when the end result is an unhappy player who won't take up the sport. With regards to 'being crap'.. what do you mean? In my book the crap people are the ones who are at the back of the field cowering in cover and occasionally pinging shots that will fall 20m short of the enemy. Anyone who gets killed a lot trying to push up or get in range to add their weight of fire to the front line is doing a great job ?
  6. Well, all rather gutting that when I wanted to use the SIG, an accident got in the way and it ended up back in the gun bag... the end of the outer barrel + suppressor got snapped off at Spec Ops yesterday. This is what it looks like now... it is at least just a cosmetic problem, the gun does still seem to shoot straight The photo doesn't do a good job of showing it, but that's the 14mm CCW threaded part of the outer barrel that snapped off (quite cleanly on the gun side, but the broken piece has crumbled on one half, as can be seen above) I guess there's just about enough left of the outer barrel to try to tap it again so I can still fit the suppressor (it really makes it look good), I certainly want to get a flash hider on there again at the least. I don't think the outer barrel is a separate piece, I think it's part of the sight / gas block, but having removed one pin and the gas regulator, I can't see how it disassembles any further. Replacing the whole part might be a bit pricey for this rescued boneyard gat. Edit (to remove confusing bad info / question, and to link to bestest ebay item) I need a 'left hand' 14mm with a 1mm pitch. Which are 'unusual', but there's one on eBay for bugger-all money. I'll probably give it a shot if you guys give it a thumbs-up! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290721694064
  7. How's that running for you? I had a chance to buy one a while back (before I bought the 5.1 DOR) and kind of regretted not getting it, the looks have really grown on me
  8. A mixed (but mostly good) day at Spec Ops... Took a few guns with me (as per usual), though the preferred VFC HK416 GBBR is out of commission until the replacement body pin comes from Taiwan * Double Eagle M906C (natch) * TM AUG High Cycle * JG SIG S-552 Commando * G&G G36C * TM 5.1 D.O.R Hi-Capa I decided to run the DE with a bunch of mid-caps instead of the usual Lonex flash-mags, just to make things a little more 'interesting' in terms of ammo management, and also stuck the recently acquired (used) Titan 7.4v Li-Ion stick in there, to keep the pistol grip from melting Unfortunately right from the off the teams looked unbalanced. A team of HPA'ers on one side, and us mere mortals on the other. Yeah, right from the first game it felt wrong. Credit to them, it was as much their squad play as much as the weight and range of fire that meant they knocked us on to the back foot from the off. But as the morning went on, it wasn't enormously fun. Luckily at lunchtime, Carlos and the marshals took the chance to swap a few people around, and the afternoon was much more competitive. I had some fun'n'games on the gun front: In the morning I took the DE and the SIG. The 3000mAH battery died just before lunch. Obviously it shouldn't do that after such a small volume of shots - it's not charging properly (it went from 75% to full suspiciously quickly) When I went to the tech trailer to retrieve my SIG I was told there'd been an accident - the cover on the trailer had dropped and snapped the outer barrel where the silencer was screwed on. Bugger. I'll need some advice on that - will post pics later. Lunch time intervened. Two tasty burgers, the option of chicken and salad too. I was going to run my G36 in the afternoon but discovered I hadn't brought the right battery for it, so went with the AUG instead. A good choice as it turned out. I also grabbed my 11.1v LiPo for the DE. First game after lunch I used the DE but damn, it gets hot quickly. Maybe the motor height needs some more tweaking, but really I need to order a new motor for it (the 22TPA with a fan from AK2M4) I decided to go with the AUG for the afternoon instead. The gun isn't as good as the DE when it comes to semi-auto, so I just leaned in to what it's built for - 20-25rps of bullet-hosing The damn thing is fantastic at suppression. The highlight of my day was the final round where we were playing an 'escort the VIP with a bomb' mission. We were tied up in the BBC base, with the bomb sitting just outside. I got a decent couple of kills on two enemies just outside the base, so thought 'sod it' and sprinted out to the best cover. Me and the VIP then pepper-potted down to the church, with me giving suppressive fire while the VIP carried the bomb. I got zapped between the Church and Ping Ping, but by then we'd all pushed on and the final step (getting the bomb to the tank) was inevitable. The heaviest rain came down after the game-play had finished. Thankfully. Even the medium shower that happened early afternoon was enough to get everyone fogging up. So bad news, I've got a dud battery and a cosmetically broken gnu, but on the positive side the hit taking was really pretty good (well, I had no definite problems, and I only heard a couple of comments across the entire day, which was massively better than last time). Damn, I wish Lonex made AUG flash mags. I'd buy a set, given how much I enjoyed using the gnu, and how much I don't care for winding high caps ;/ Now time for the unpopular opinion... As much as everyone might pile on to AirsoftSniper, I have to say I have concerns about HPA too... The previous game day I came back with just a couple of small ping marks on me. After playing against multiple HPA'ers yesterday, I came back looking like I'd walked into a wasp nest. At one point I got hit on my mesh face mask by an HPA guy at close-ish range and I felt the whole mask jump off my face. Hey, that might be the difference between running at bang-on the site limit, where as most AEGs are probably running at 300-330 / 0.20g, but Spec Ops only zip-tied the regulators for a game or two, they're not doing it now. Cheat-mode can be engaged with a twist of a knob, and I suspect the temptation is too much for some of them. Putting that suspicion aside, their extended range and volume of fire from just a few players can unbalance the game-play. however much they might want to stick together, it's best to distribute them across the two teams. That certainly prevents any grumbles and mutterings!
  9. Barrel length doesn't matter so much as it does for the real thing, but if you're looking at maybe an AUG you'd get that for 'free' anyway. I have the TM high cycle variant which is very compact but still has a decent barrel length within it. It's a great little thing, always gets a lot of positive comments when I use it ☺️. Given the low power output of your typical TM AEG, it still still gets out-ranged by other guns, so maybe one of the other manufacturer's ones will suit you better. Given you've also mentioned FAMAS as well I suspect you're one of us (has a bullpup link!). So L85 etc also a possibility? The problem with those is they all seem to have their foibles, but I think they're damned cool all the same.
  10. Actual Brens. This was back at the end of the 80 's. I think we had 2 or 3 but they never really got touched and maybe they weren't there for long. Certainly never fired, and I can only remember one training session (field strip) with a Bren. It was a big armoury... There were a lot of Lee Enfield no4's in .303", some of which were set up as target rifles with Parker Hale diopter sights. We later got a number of 'proper' target rifles chambered in 7.62mm. not sure what their designation was. And a bunch of the Lee Enfield .22" cadet target rifles. The full bore stuff got used at Bisley for competitions, and taken to various army camps occasionally, and we had a small bore rifle range on the school site. Which was nice.
  11. Just as an aside, the VFC pin is 22mm wide. Turns out that's quite narrow. The pin from my CA Scarab and my CA M16A3 are both different and wider. So buying the oem one is very much the safest bet It's the VFC stock rubber, I just thought it would be good to have as spare new one, given it was so little extra on the order.
  12. Watched video, Added M249 to my Xmas list. But I think it was on there already I think I have a weird fetish for bipods on guns... formed all the way back when I was in the cadets and had Bren guns in the school armoury. And when I got to fire the Bren and a GPMG on the range. I did buy a gripod and tried that for a day but it's not really the same thing, is it?
  13. I ordered the pin and a spare hop rubber from KIC They replied they're very busy at the moment so they might delay a little. Still, I'm very grateful to find a site that can supply the VFC pin rather than trusting another will fit!
  14. I took advice I read somewhere, and removed the rubber gasket on my ammo can. The lid now locks down but is only a loose fit, so should let enough gas escape to prevent Bangy McBang-Face from making an appearance
  15. I've got knackered old eyeballs and need varifocals. I found the price was much of a muchness between the two, and wasn't particularly happy with the prescription and/or quality of the lenses from either of them. Boots didn't do a perfect job either... so having been to all 3 in succession I was disappointed by them all, and my wallet got well and truly emptied every time. So they're all shit. Or my eyes are so bad I will always have to pay a fortune and get specs that don't work perfectly. (Probably the latter - I did recently go for a check for laser surgery... That'd be £8.5K and I'd still need specs for reading and using computers!)
  16. Yeah I can't find the specs for the motor. Maybe it's written on the body of the thing itself, but it says '31000'. 'high torque / speed', and that's all I can remember without taking it out of the gun to check. It's an old, discontinued motor, judging by the few product pages I found for it out there. Anyway, the plan remains to buy an XT from ak2m4 and put the CA motor back in the scarab (where it runs cool on 11.1v), but it can work on in the DE as a backu, on 7.4v I've been burning through too much ammo on game days when I'm using the DE on full auto, so really i need the semi auto to work nicely, and a lower RoF isn't the end of world either!
  17. I've recently bought a Titan 7.4v battery off the classifieds here, and trying that in the gun with the high speed motor in place was pretty good. Yeah, the RoF is 'sensible' rather than 'exciting', but the semi auto response is still good, and most importantly the motor stayed cool after a bit of semi and short burst spamming. If I don't get around to grabbing the 22tpa motor in time for the next skirmish, I'll run with this configuration.
  18. That's very reasonable, I'll just do an order with the pin and a spare hop rubber then ?
  19. Thanks for that. I've built an order which includes the takedown (rear receiver) pin I need (just $5), but given there'll probably be a hefty p&p charge regardless of how big the package is, I might stick an extra mag in there too. I just have to wait for them to get back to me with a quote - how much did they charge you?
  20. Good luck! Where did you get them from?
  21. That's great thanks @TacticalWaifu So, feedback to the forum developer is: 1. Please add a link to the wishlist that is easily discoverable from the classifieds menu, or from the top level page 2. Please give an option to filter out completed listings (in fact best to default the filter to exclude, rather than leave them included), or a method to easily delete all completed listings from the wishlist. (I've got 6 pages of ads I'm stuck with forever at the moment) 3. Please improve the page layout for mobile portrait mode. And the landscape mode could do with a tweak too.
  22. Simple question, on my phone (mobile view, in web developer parlance) is it possible to get to my Wishlisted items? I can't find a way ??
  23. No I don't think you're missing anything, those were pretty much my thoughts when I saw it. I prefer the look of the real mp9 and would instinctively trust KWA more than Vorsk. But it does seem to have a nice rate of fire (as for the original), they've taken a fairly reliable design and allegedly improved it, and first impressions from YouTube videos are that it's good. So I have something of an interest in it, in spite of logic ? https://youtu.be/gKr7sdsPNLw
  24. I got a reply from HPA-UK, where the tech has said that Strike or TM MWS pins will fit too.
