  1. Went to Rift Redcon-2 yesterday for a long time in a while. Sportsmanship from both teams was good during the gameplay but there are some things I find rather annoying and unprofessional. From the get go I am strong believer that during safety briefing and during the pre match information there should be a strict no magazine in guns policy. You will be waiting for the safety briefing or something to start and there are just idiots walking around shooting bbs everywhere. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. People are more to accidently take their eye pro off whilst they are waiting doing nothing and people are just generally closer with a higher risk of accidents happening. I just think sites need to start addressing a policy of no magging up until you reach your start location and as soon as the game is finished everyone should un mag straight away and clear their rif at the floor. The only times people should be magged up is either whilst they are in the game or they are at the range/chrono.

I understand people don't want refs to be "over the top" but this is general health and safety. To be honest majority of the time the only people shooting their rifs during this time are just messing around and have no logical reason to be shooting.

  2. Hello,

I recently installed a Wolverine Inferno Gen 2.

Currently running a ZCI 6.02 tightbore barrel and a ML yellow.

My issue is that I don't believe my FPS is as consistent as it "should" be.

I just chronoed and I am getting

    322.3

    319.6

    316.4

    313.2

    321.3

    320.7

    319.9

    318.3

    319.2

When I put paper over the mag feeding tube the paper does launch up a little bit.

    Has anyone get any ideas?

  3. First time back to Rift Comms Site 3 since about a year. Day was overall okay. The site needs quite a bit of balancing ever since the HS2 has changed the site. They have always struggled placing one of the spawns. Its always one team gets to the middle of the site and takes control of the main buildings quicker as they don't have to run as far, whilst the others have to try and push up to them in areas with naff all cover. It's also further to go back to the respawn and no medic rule really makes people play more slow and less likely to try stuff. I also think the amount of snipers there is getting out of control. We counted about 20 snipers on each team but could easily be more and it just makes the gameplay much slower as the snipers just like to sit back and chill instead of helping with the push.

Few individuals were up to their cheating antics with blind firing and not calling their hits but overall wasn't "too" bad.

Overall I think Comms Site 3 is lacking something at the moment that it used to have. It seems to have lost a bit of its charm. Could be fixed pretty easily by balancing the spawn distances. I would also like to see somewhat of a cap on snipers but I understand that it is probably bad for the site income and regulars of the site.

  4. Can't agree more with what people say about finding a good site. Been to quite a few and I would say I have my best days at a local smaller site which is more aimed at being more family friendly. You get a wider range of players, marshaling is stricter on resolving troublemakers and more likely to see a familiar face. I have recently decided to go to this site more often than the other larger site that I have been going to before.

The main site I was going to before was fun but eventually it got tiring with people taking it way too seriously, causing arguments (I was physically assaulted and the site did nothing to resolve the situation other than asking the assaulter to calm down as he goes there frequently) and having the whole "money" attitude.

  5. Had a game day with it yesterday. Was rather enjoyable and peformed quite well. Only thing I did notice is that once I set up the hop for 0.28 and did the chrono in the morning there was quite a bit of a fps drop. Do you think it's worth putting in a stronger spring so that when the hop is set for 0.28 its where it should be.

I saw an example of this in one of negativeairsofts video regarding a arcturus ak where it was perfect for 0.2 but when set to 0.28 it dropped a lot.

    Cheers

  6. Also remember to get stuck in, many new players join and take it slow and steady being too cautious about being shot. I think most people agree that the first game of the day is always a bit on your tip toes because you can't remember if it hurts or not but once you get hit for the first time in the day you have nothing to worry about. Also remember that the rental guns are not going to be perfect but will be good enough to hit anyone on the site. Lastly nothing is a silly idea if it works, sometimes sprinting into no man's land wins you the game

    UK Double Eagle Stock Springs

I bought my son a DE M906C for Christmas, so far he's only fired it in the garden briefly, so before we play a game on 9/1/2022 I thought I'd swap in both a Maple Leaf 60 degree Macaron and Omega nub today (once my M908A arrives that'll be three DE M900's we have in the house).

The hop up units "arm" is the variant that has a hole for a "captive" nub... https://imgur.com/m9rWHXB ... which my M904E's arm does not, with this nub removed and the Omega nub installed this appeared (a visual check) to be adding quite a bit of hop to the Macaron without any hop actually being applied on the hop unit. A chrono gave me around 280 FPS on 0.20g, horribly under powered, so I thought it best to put all the original parts back in a chrono again (I forgot to do one beforehand). This still gave around 280 FPS, and started to get me worried.

I'm building up a nice supply of spare parts now, and have a few different springs to hand, so I thought I'd swap in a Gearparts M105 to see what the result would be. This lead to two negative discoveries, one the QC spring guide had its flat head screwdriver cut out mangled at some point... https://imgur.com/breI5D0 ... and secondly the spring was a hideously cheap and nasty one. So in goes the Gearparts M105, with DE M900's by default having both a piston head and spring guide bearing, and with no hop it shot hot at around 360 FPS and with a little hop it was consistently around 348 FPS so I was happy then and popped back in the ML Macaron (but the Omega nub will have to wait until I can buy a better hop unit).

That's two incidents I've had now with iffy springs in UK spec DE M900's, both of which were purchased from Patrol Base, who get them from Taiwan Gun as the European distributor. I personally don't think it's a coincidence, but who's installing these crap springs, is it DE themselves, the distributor or the reseller? (I'm going with either the distributor or reseller so they're country specific legal). This is a shot of three springs... https://imgur.com/PvoZtwF ... a Gearparts M120 at the top (170mm in length, with tighter coils at one end), my original DE M904E in the middle (160mm, no tighter coils) and at the bottom the M906C (200mm, no tighter coils). Both DE springs feel so cheap and flimsy compared to Gearparts and Guarder springs, especially the 200mm one. I'm very much looking forward to getting the spring out of my M90A when it arrives, as it's not from Patrol Base but I'm assuming the Taiwan Gun is the distributor (let's see if it has the usual green "Krakman" Polish label).

Luckily I've my own chrono, spare parts and tools, however the M906C could have gone to someone who'd not have known until a site chrono / a back garden plinker who'd never have known!

I've been doing a cyma ak build lately. I purchased it from PB. The springs are definitely coming from TG. Cyma aks always come really hot and Patrol Base use TG as a "supplier" I think what they are doing is ordering guns from TG and then getting them to downgrade them (which TG offer for free to normal customers). My Cyma ak came to me at 310 fps which is around the 310 downgrade that TG do. Also my spring looks exactly the same as the one you have.

Good to hear you got it sorted, and M95 sounds about right with o-ringed and lubed airseal.

Was the stock spring noticeably short?  The one in my CYMA M4 had clearly been cut down, it was only just barely under tension with the piston forward.

Didn't look like it was cut short it was just incredibly weak. Felt like it could either be a really poor grade m90 or even a m80. I think what currently happens is that Patrol Base order RIFs through TaiwanGun as they have a bit of "partnership" going on. Which do the work of reducing the fps as quickly as possible down to their low fps setting of 310. Replacing the spring is probably a bit quicker and more reliable than cutting the spring. Closing this particular gearbox on the cm048m was considerably easy - A magnet on the anti reverse latch and the trigger liked to play ball.

In terms of springs the gearparts range at ak2m4 are very solid for the price. For some reason they are much easier to install than other springs as the coils on one end are much tighter than the other. I also installed a ZCI m100 during my testing which just loved to try and pop out towards me where as the gearparts preferred to stay put.

  9. M95 has seemed to do the job. Currently shooting 349 on 20s with no hop applied and 293 on 28s. Just under the limit but I think the hop will help bring it a little bit down more.

Will play with it this weekend if all is well and will type up a in depth guide next week. It's a shame companies like patrol base do this to cyma aks by putting in such weak springs. I may have to start offering a Cyma spring upgrade service...

  10. Has been a funny few days. Started off doing the airseal which for some reason dropped the fps by 5 or so but was more consistent. (Could be due to friction of the oring)

I noticed that the CM048m Nozzle length is the shorter nozzle instead of the longer one. The longer one worked perfectly fine but I think having the intended length is probably best so I swapped to the shorter one. I also then started upgrading springs as the one in the gearbox from stock (I take it whoever supplied PB with the cyma aks puts these terrible springs in to get under 350fps). I was recommended a m105 by ak2m4 and to our surprise it was shooting at 400fps. I also bought a ZCI M100 at the same time to drop in if the 105 was too high and that is still a bit hot at 370. I'm thinking I should now get a m95 or m90 and go from there.

Once I got it where I like it I will do a bit of a in depth guide for the gun as a whole on recommended parts and etc.

Could help to get in there and clean it up as well as re-shim.

O-ring nozzle is good as long as it fits properly (length and not too tight)

You could also try polishing the inner barrel.

(Presume you already cleaned the barrel...)

Had a response from PB today saying that it's very rarely that they receive them firing them hot. I take it they come from Taiwangun then and they do the downgrade for PB as their "low" option (310).

If the airseal work doesn't help significantly what strength of spring would you recommend?

40-50m? I'll be amazed if you can get any kind of reasonable accuracy at that range...

Be aware your velocity will drop with heavier pellets. 310 on .2s seems average and I wouldn't worry about that. When you day the gun is "struggling" what do you mean, is the cycling laboured, crap range, not shooting straight...?

Out of interest what battery are you using?

Sorry I should of clarified. I was using a garden 40-50m long and it's dropping around 30m. Increasing the hop anymore just causes a jam and I can't overhop 0.28 at all which should be somewhat possible.

The gun seems to cycle fine just doesn't have the power. Last time when I did chrono it did seem to have a 15 fps deviation too.

I think cracking it open and checking airseals and putting a oring nozzle on first is a good starting point

Also I'm using a 7.4 turnigy lipo from hobbyking. 1500mah.

  13. Been giving a better try today at shooting at a range of 40-50 metres using 0.28.

Gun is definitely struggling a bit. I don't currently have my chrono to check but it's obvious that the power is not where it needs to be. I have a feeling patrol base most likely cuts more off the spring to be "safe" instead of trying to get to the ideal power.

I have ordered some new o rings and a o ring nozzle to see if there is an issue with the airseal first. Will then check the chrono before deciding if it needs a new spring.

Will let you know how it goes.

  14. Hello,

Recently my CM048m order from Patrol Base arrived. It's a Christmas present to me but I gave it a quick test fire and fps check before it gets wrapped up. With the hop fully off it is firing 0.2g at a max of 310fps.
Does this seem a bit low or do you think that's about right? I will get round to upgrading the bucking, nub and barrel in the future as standard so hopefully that will help.

    Cheers

    Hi All

I have a DE Honey Badger which I love, however, after a year and a half of use it doesn't work, I connect the 11.1v lipo battery and it registers and I can go through the binary firing changes but when I move to to semi or auto it just does a faint click...any ideas as to what's wrong? Also, I've lost the manual that came with it, do you have a pdf you can send me or direct me to somewhere that does? I live in the Isle of Man so can't just nip to my local airsoft dealer (there are none here) like in the UK and I don't really want to buy a new rifle, I'd like this to work.

    Thanks for any help.

    Matt

Hey mate, Double check your motor orientation, flow of positive / negative from battery.

    Also check the AR latch.

    Cool gun 👍

Can I ask a couple of questions?

I've seen a couple of reviews meeting that the gearbox doesn't seem to have much lube in it, when it's fresh out of the box.  Did you find that, and if so was it bad enough that I should get mine cracked open and lubed as a priority?

Also, what FPS did you get before the spring change? I'm going to get mine chrono'd on Sunday for the first time, I imagine it's going to be comfortably under the limit, but I wouldn't want any surprises!

Wouldn't worry about it too much, Aslong as it sounds good the lube should be doing its job. Majority of stock guns are not greatly lubed from the factory however they are usually using a thick heavy grease and lots of it with the aim of trying to make it be as "long lasting" as possible. My advice is to only relube it when you are going to have to open the gearbox at some point.

Obviously something got chewed up so best not to use it until you figure out where the plastic came from and where the slippage is.

Most likely a bb blockage causing the piston to chew a little bit

Is the Umarex the ones that are manufactured by VFC? if so the exterior wise you will struggle to find something as close to the real thing. Internals from VFC can always be a pain though

Used my 906C in anger yesterday for the first time. Great rifle, light, easy to carry around and accurate. Loved it.

One thing I have found though is the front QD points are too thick, they don't hold the QD fitting securely at all. The ones on the receiver and stock are fine, just the two on either side of the front rail. It looks like it's too thick and the pins aren't releasing fully.

I'll be removing it later and see if it can be fettled a bit to make things more secure.

Having said that it was perfectly fine on a 1 point sling mounted to the receiver.

You can also get mlock qd points, I always like a bit of cord or a zip tie myself though. Glad you enjoyed the gun!

Cheers, it's woodland with some sort-of cqb 'villages' where we change to single shot.  Most of the longer range stuff feels like 20-30, occasionally 40m, but at partial targets - sometimes through a bit of light brush - so accuracy and momentum the key things there!

I've had a dig around in my kit box, I found a bag of 0.30s in there I thought I'd already used.  And a bag of leftovers which could be anything from 0.20s to 0.28s.  Maybe even a pick'n'mix of all 3 weights.  Anyway, I'll see if I can lift the 0.30s in the garden.. should be an interesting test!

    edit:
Yes, it'll over-hop .30s.  That's the stock rubber that's had probably a hundred rounds through it, at room temperature, at 20m range.  Geoff's .30g Bio Natural Precision BB's.   Operated by a non-expert user :)

Now obviously I may have so much hop wound on at this point that the fps might be unusably low, and I definitely saw some variability in the trajectories (though that's perhaps down to the new hop rubber, and the newness of the gun as a whole, and me only firing a couple of shots at each setting, with a battery that probably needs a recharge) but it's definitely lifting them successfully.

I'll probably order a big bag of 0.28s just to play it a little safe, but when I'm at the site next I'll try to get a chrono reading with the 0.30s

Absolutely loving the look and feel of this, and the binary trigger... lurrrrrrvly!

Remember that fps is not important, it's all about joules and if the weight is hoppable.

Keep the gun stock for a month I would say when you want to make changes chuck in a ML Yellow and keep the stock barrel as you shouldn't need to trim the lip. After a while upgrade the barrel to a stainless steel one - ZCI are very good for the price however you will most likely need to trip the lip. To do this use a disposable razor, put it on a spare barrel and just take a tiny bit off each time. Make sure to do the drop test in the hop up frequently when shaving the material so you stop just as it let's the bb drop down into the hopup without getting caught.

  20. 17 hours ago, RostokMcSpoons said:

As I'm going to run mine stock at least for a couple of games, can someone recommend the best BB weight to use... I'm thinking .25g to make sure it can hop 'em in cold weather, but of course I'd like to go heavier if it'll work...?

0.25s will hop 100% - 0.28s are better and the go to but not 100% sure if they are hoppable with the stock rubber - I am currently running 0.25s despite having a ML Yellow ZCI barrel because the site I went to that was all they had...

It's also important to know what type of site you go to. 0.28s are usually better outside and for distance however in cqb you will be suprised how well a 0.20 can perform

If you want to upgrade or anything in the future let us know.

Stock of the 907 models seems to have disappeared at Patrolbase this morning, and the 906's have dropped to just the C version.
There are still a selection of 904's but given how quickly the situation changed, their DE stock coverage might well be 'wide and shallow', if you catch my drift.

So, damnit, I've been pushed into a corner!  I HAD to buy one before someone else got there first!   Tell the wife it was a GOOD reason I had to spend the money!   M906C on the way tomorrow :)

(I just refreshed the Patrolbase page, I may have nabbed the last 906, there are just two of the longer M904's and a pricier M908 left)

You will be happy with it! I am thinking about putting an longer innerbarrel in mine soon and covering it with a either a new handguard or suppressor
