Everyone starts somewhere
Ebeneezer Goode replied to TheNotoriousLoki's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Aye, I painted over my two tones with OD pretty sharpish as well. I actually rather liked the bright green and black combo however it made me stand out like a neon lit sign in the woods. Glad to hear you're having fun Loki and enjoying your purchases! -
Yep, can relate to that. I'm a relative newcomer to Airsoft having played for about 9 months now, at first there were times I was convinced I'd sprayed someone and they hadn't called it... however, it's plastic bits moving pretty slowly so actually quite easy to dodge Matrix-style. Watching through a sight i could then see my missing of the target that I was convinced I'd aced. Either way I dont get too worked up if someone's not calling hits. Its all just a bit if fun at the end of the day and don't feel the need to get worked up about it. Just shoot them more, eventually they will call it...

Harsh but true. Importing anything is a minefield.
-
Yeah, best with black. A better base to work with IMO. To my eyes tan looks bogging on anything apart from an M4 or a 1911.
-
The cold does all sorts of things, probably a mixture of the reasons you list above. I know my AEGs drop in performance when it's chilly.

Thing is, a few well-chosen, subtle mods can make a difference. A better hop unit, better air seal/nozzle (stuff that really costs very little) can make subtle improvements in consistency. Its when folk go on a Rishi Sunak-style spender bender and just start flinging expensive posh bits at the thing without any research that causes bother. Remember Tim Taylor from Home Improvement? "MOOORE POWERRRRR!!!"... same happens in airsoft. Folk bung in an 11.1 LiPo nuclear fusion reactor, a motor with the power of a CFM56 turbofan at full chat, DSGs in the gearbox to give an A10-esque ROF and a reinforced titanium/diamond or something piston, then wonder why the gearbox has shat itself, or the piston teeth get torn asunder, and can't work out why their £1000 super gnu has just shat itself in the middle of their game, whereas the bloke with the basic 99 quid CYMA AK carries on, yet again, all day without so much as a battery change...

Must admit i find this concept of "upgrades" a bit baffling. Why not just spend the money on a decent gnu to begin with? Most "upgrades" end up costing at least as much as another gnu and result in a plethora of gremlins introduced which spoil your skirmish day, with very little noticeable improvement. For most AEGs heavier BBs and a decent hop will get you there IMO. Maybe a longer barrel if you're wanting more of a DMR platform, but then you're just as well buying an M14 or something similar. Unless it's a really crap gearbox or piston I wouldn't bother touching anything else... Eezer G

I'd be interested to hear her response. I'd imagine it would be similar to Mrs. Eezer's... ending with "off"...

Now, I'd never make fun of anything that anyone buys, considering my completely pish loadout which consists of a mighty Unreal Tournament 2004 Redeemer-esque slayer of a UAR, an awe-inducing plastic fantastic Lancer Tactical M4 and an utter death machine of a 20 quid Chinesium 1911 springer. Add in some thoroughly geeky and naff fake sci fi foam armour, and I'm less Master Chief, more Disaster Chief. However... before purchasing my awesomely unimpressive gear I did my research thoroughly, so knew what to expect and made my choices deliberately within my budget. And I'm happy with my choices. Quite amazing how many folk jump into things, not just airsoft, blindly spaffing wads of dough like Rishi Sunak on a bender without having the faintest scooby doo about what their riches are going towards. Their choice I suppose. Wow, new or used? Not a hi capa fan but thats mental money. Think Airsofts going to resemble Mad Max soon, folk turning up at skirms bartering over gnus and having duels to decide who gets what 😀 -
Wot 'ee sez, guvna. Skirmish it a couple of times to get a feel for it before ripping it apart and tinkering. Most CYMA AKs in that range are superb as standard, apart from cleaning the barrel you shouldn't have to do anything IMO.

Tokyo Marui, are they always a safe bet?

2.0 TDCi, Dw10 engine. 140hp. Zetec Business Edition so lots of useful additions (dual zone climate, satnav, BT which wasn't too common 10 years ago, voice command, parking sensors, all round leccy windows, tinted rear windows, heated windscreen etc). Fantastic car. The old V6s were nice, sadly gone now due to high fuel prices and rampant EcoNazi-ism. Can't be having proles enjoying themselves, can we. Always liked the mk1 MX5. An MG B for the 90s, only more reliable! Apologies to the OP for powersliding gloriously off topic. -

Bloody council, can't be arsed gritting a single track country B-road... one of these things, couldn't be helped. Chalk it up to experience and move on I suppose. I always liked Japanese bikes, my Yamaha has been great, until my prang last week. Just hope the gearbox isn't buggered. -
Yeah, the airsoft retail supply chain is pretty convoluted. Another cog in the machine to get stuck... Agree with your closing point, it's pretty incredible that prices havent shot up, yet. Time for that yet of course 😂
-
I did consider that. Although my wife has a business account with Royal Mail so I could send stuff that way, except for the shotgun of course. Might speak to some airsoft homies and see if anyone wants anything.

Hi folks. Looking to clear out some Airsoft stuff that's not needed or used anymore. Looking to price the following items: Crossdraw vest. Purchased from Amazon for £30 new. Used three times, good condition. No longer required. Double Eagle M56B tri-shot in 2-tone blue. Given to me by a mate but its since sat gathering dust. With original box, sling and one 30rnd shell. Fully functional. Basic Viper sling. Used once, didn't like it. Not expecting much as I was only 4.99 or something so might just chuck it in as a freebie with one of the other items. For lightweight RIFs so might be handy for shotgun, MP5 etc. M4/AR15 Metal carry handle with removable 20mm top rail. Bought from amazon for £35 IIRC. Was going to use it to build an old school XM177 style but went off the idea. Never used. Muchos Grassyarse amigos. Looking to put these on sale in the classifieds shortly. Eezer G

Same with my old Mondeo. Had it since new (10 years/113500 miles). Bulletproof, costs nothing to run, whopping massive great boot. No plans of offing it yet. Other transport is a 125cc motorbike. Not so great at transporting airsoft gear but a rucksack sorts that. Although it's currently languishing in Eezer's garage awaiting repair after a rather catastrophic slip on black ice last week. -
All sorts of things going on. Inflation starting to run away internationally, material costs exponentially rising, fuel prices exploding, Government wanting their cut in the form of taxes, all connected back to the fact that the world economy was shut down for a long time. I work in Aviation, and quite frankly it's a bloodbath like I've never seen before. Even 9/11 seems like a blip in comparison.

Eezer Goode's Sci Fi Armour Build Thread
Ebeneezer Goode replied to Ebeneezer Goode's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Some more work tonight. Added some shoulder bits and a breastplate for a more beefcake appearance. Master Chief is my homeboy. Glue edges etc deliberately left rough as I'm going to plastikote the lot prior to painting. Tempted to add some sort of detail to the back, maybe some more faux plating, or some sort of pretend environmental control backpack/computer/summat sad like that. Still a bit to do, besides painting. Leg bits require more work but need more hot glue first as I've run out. Also want to beef up the glue joins with rivets or similar. -
Shipping from China continues to be an expensive problem. As does Brexit, or rather our shambolic government rules. Plus everyone's shat themselves (well, the media and politicians have, anyway, the rest of us are like "meh") over the new Covid variant, which is called Xi, or Moronic, or summat. And loads of airsofters keep hoovering up the limited supplies of stuff thats out there so I think it'll be a problem for some months yet. Maybe that explains some of the utterly bizarre prices quoted on the Airsoft Walts, Charlatans and Spivs thread, which continues to provide much amusement and bafflement as to the overinflated, gouged keech that some folk try to market under the auspices of "its airsoft innit"...

300 fps??? Aye right mate, in an alternate Walt universe on they wee rough 0.12g yellow pieces of dung that destroy many a half decent airsoft gnu and using a nuclear fusion reactor to power it. Here on Earth you'll be lucky to see 200fps on point 2s. Very, very lucky. Spare bat, spare mags, ok fair enough but new it's about £110. Robust wee thing being JG but performance wise pretty pish, you'd be better flinging BBs by hand at your oppos. -

Really??????? Ffs. At least there was little chance of damage... -

Yep. They seem pretty honest, however goodness knows what other gremlins are hiding inside. And without any warranty too... big risk IMO. Out of stock, "must" have? Nah, I'd rather wait than get shafted with no comeback. -

I'm not poor, I just like to spend my hard earned on other stuff... -
Noice. Mjolnir is my favourite, after USCM. Do it... Again, would love an MA5, but prohibitively expensive, not a bullpup (why???) and crappy low-capacity "hi cap" proprietary mags, so a no from me.

Aye, I know. S much as I love it, It's a bit of sci fi plastic wrapped around an AK gearbox. Just as well I love mine, cos I'd be lucky to get 70 quid for it if I had to off it. Dreamers...
