Recommend me a stumpy to replace my MP5
Ebeneezer Goode replied to Point Two Balls's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Have you considered a bullpup? A bit more barrel length but still nice and short. Not for everyone but I've become a fan since getting my UAR. Prefer it to my M4 now. P90 might also suit you. Everyone thinks they're ugly however I've yet to hear a bad word from anyone who uses them. -
Macks airsoft dreamers of the week thread
Ebeneezer Goode replied to Mack's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, but see it this way. Innocent member of public sees some radge waving about an AK down the Co-Op car park. They dont know its an airsoft gnu, for all intents and purposes it looks real and it could be some git at the old Allan's Snackbar routine. Treble 9 and the Filf show up. They don't know either, from a distance, that it's some daft wee laddie waving a CYMA plastic-slugger, again to the eye it looks real. Split second decision to make, lives are at stake... The UAR might not be based on a "real" gnu, but again to an untrained eye it looks like a firearm. Some may assume it an SA80 or something. -
Weathering - Yes or No? and How hard is it?

Aye, but a few faults here and there adds authenticity and "character", no? -

Easy. Take your gnu, skirm loads and do t treat it lightly... chuck it about, clatter it off stuff, chuck it in the mud... hey presto, one genuinely weathered gnu... -

Hit Amazon earlier. Purchased a load of EVA for my armour project that will start shortly and a new pair of knee pads as my previous ones bit the dust. -
Nothing wrong with running DPM and Camo tape. Thumbs up from here. Personally, I have both mid and hi caps. Purely personal preference, however Im not bothered by rattles or the odd winding. My UAR only takes hi caps so I don't have much choice, however I've got three cheap Battleaxe stubby mid caps for my Commando that are fun to use with that. Again, try it and see how you get on.

Load-Out / Loadout Picture topic

The 7mm mats sound ideal. Plenty spare and not too thick so easy to mould into shape. Also still able to feel hits. As I said nothing too elaborate. Have sketched a basic torso design that stops just below the ribcage to allow for movement. Considering some form of scrote protector that hangs over the front for some basic protection against hits to the baws (not happened yet and want to keep it that way...) Shoulder protection attached and basic forearm and leg pieces. Then paint it all in OD to match the rest of my loadout. Might add a couple of decals to finish off. Doing my research before hitting Amazon, Ebay or B&Q in the coming days. -

@Rogerborga wee question for you. What's the best EVA to get? Sheets or a roll? And what thickness? Looking on Amazon and there's plenty there. Sketching away this weekend. -

Smart pics mate. Good job on that armour. I'm away to buy a load of EVA and carve up some sci fi kit. Going to concoct summat fairly simple, might add arm and leg pieces. Nothing too intricate or bulky as I need to run about the forest. Getting the sketch pad oot when the bairns are in bed. -

Cheers mate. Im definitely up for it. And yes, a large part of airsoft is cosplay... Think I'll rope in the Mrs to help, she's very arty crafty and good at this sort of thing. -

That's great. I've been tempted to make some sci fi armour myself in the vein of Halo/40k/Starship Troopers/Aliens. Nothing OTT just a chest/shoulder piece of some sort. Just not sure how to go about it... as for "weathering"... nothing like genuine damage for authenticity! Have seen your lasgun previously on the guns thread and long admired the job you've done on that ? -

Loving the loadout @Rogerborg. Where did you get the armour or was it home made? -

Do you have a colour or scheme in mind? I repainted the handguard and stock on my Commando, have considered an all over scheme however. -

@MagpieTacticalnice rifle. Love the XM177s with the old school handle-mount sight. Just bought a G4 helmet. Couple of weeks before it arrives. -

Those gnu covers look rather spiffing. -
Lol. I'm sure it could be resold at almost full RRP on Patrol Base's Boneyard section...

Beginner Set Up Recommendations
Ebeneezer Goode replied to Point Two Balls's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Wot he said... Wouldn't bother with posh expensive kit, think of the essentials. Some sort of basic chest rig or MOLLE panel to stick some M4 pouches on; one-piece eye and face pro like the fencer hood suggested or a Valken MI7; gloves-wise tactical gloves are pretty affordable and give decent protection, also look at fishing-style neoprene fingerless or shooter mitts. Assuming it's an indoor CQB site? If so don't bother with camo, dark coloured hoodie and joggers/jeans probably best for use there or a boiler suit if he's big enough and feeling sci fi or Ghostbusting. If he really wants an operator look, cargo trousers and tac shirts are readily available for good prices on Amazon. Shemagh is handy for neck protection and looks ally as heck. Also a handy picnic blanket, tourniquet, work mat for field stripping, scarf, headdress or makeshift blanket for a cold girlfriend etc etc etc... -
Blimey. All I can say is glad you made it out OK. Hope all gets sorted soon for you. Being an engineer I've learned to respect electricity and batteries in particular. Most of the ones I work on are large lead acid units that a) can give you a hell of a belt (especially with a bank of 16 on charge - no cremation required...) and b) if they leak basically you end up with a scene not far removed from the bit in Alien when the facehugger's blood eats through the floor. Lithium batteries are great in use but like all batteries need care and attention both to get the best from them and to keep safe. Well-documented incidents involving laptops and phones spontaneously combusting on their shocked owners and Boeing 787s smoking on the apron are legion, however as with a things follow proper procedure, stay safe and keep an extinguisher handy...

In a way I suppose it does... shorty MORITA CQB ? Sci-fi Gnus are da best

Ah yes. Getting that way myself... can't be arsed with social media anymore or the dickheads that inhabit it and seem to think their opinions are of importance. Anyway. Nothing new here but took this pic of my two main plastic blasters with pet Xenomorph looking on. Thought it looked quite smart so I'd share. Nothing special but I just liked the shot.
