rental guns... I think most sites only ever pay any attention to them if they have a direct malfunction or stop working. So I expect that the internals to be very worn and dirty. Can't wait to use mine

electric tape, duct tape, cable ties, Leatherman multitool and sometimes an allenkey, all in the bag. Usually a Victorinox swiss army knife and a Spyderco Delica in my pockets. No Delica while in the UK thou!

For me, everything that is not clothing should be brown/tan/OD or even a classic woodland pattern. Feel more realistic to me, most less funded military in the world have this, and more funded ones often also keep OD stuff, or replace it slowly/partly. plus if you get tired of the pattern you're using, or even if you just feel like using another pattern every now and again, you can simply change your uniform without having to get a whole new kit! Someone at my site have full marpat.. the vest and pouches looks very strange to me.

^this. Except I argue that if the adult have no intention to continue after the 3 skirmishes, it's still illegal to buy a RIF (as it is to provide RIFs to help people who skirmish to keep their skirmish realistic). But I don't think anyone will get prosecuted over that. It is also a crime for you to pay or provide any service or trade to the person who buy it for you. It has to be a gift.

New to airsoft and first game this weekend, any tips?
two_zero replied to smileym89's topic in New Players & Arrivals
yea... never heard that one before but good point.. LISTEN TO THE BRIEFS!! both the initial one and the ones between games. not doing to might result in other being annoyed at you later, you looking like a complete idiot, you getting banned from the site Apart from that, take your hits even if unsure, have fun, be a pleasant person to be around! Safety first. Don't let bad things put you down. Bring water if you're that kind of person. I never drink during skirmishes.. Sometimes afterwards if the sun is really blazing. Generally the site will give you a full high cap worth of ammo if you rent (300-450 bbs), if you use up that, you might have to buy. Generally its around £10 for 3000 or 5000. You cannot keep the bbs they provided for your rental (but obviously those that you purchased!) afterwards, so if there is 10-20 minutes left until the end of the day, go insane (in a safe way). I'd say it's preferable to buy a twotone compared to renting. after you sold the twotone when you get your UKARA you've saved a lot of money compared to if you'd rent. and I guess that a 2nd hand G&G CM16 with £20-40 (1-2 rentals worth) knocked off its original price is very easy to sell. I don't get this "try a lot of different guns to see what you like", I play as well with any type of gun I tired (owend / skirmished, among others, m4s, aks and mp5s). The only thing I have to say there is that Mac 11 and similar SMGs with long mag sticking out of handle can be a bit awkward to handle/sling/holster because of their shape. As well as the selector on ar/h&k type rifles can be a bit in the way if you got fairly big hands. Oh and I went alone to my first skirmish. No probs! As a matter in fact, I usually go alone, either picking someone up on the way or meeting my friends there. Who most of them I meet thru airsoft. -
buying does not get you onto UKARA. When you buy, put your UKARA number in the instructions and ask them very clearly to put it on the parcel. something like: If you don't the customs are likely to contact you and ask for it. If you cant provide it then they will either destroy the gun or if you tell them that you have another legal defence, prepare for long arguments and legal battles that will most likely end in them destroying your gun.

That is very much my opinion. Taiwangun is great as well.

2-3inch at 15 m sounds ok. there's always things you can do to improve the groups. upgrade parts and trying to make your aeg as consistent as possible. The groups wont be affected by what kind of sighting device you use

I hate standard AR collapsible stocks on just about anything.. guess it's not THAT bad on an AR but still. funny thing that, I used to hate vietnam era ARs.. now I'm much more into them

Fixed. j/k! Good post, I'd like to say that I run around as a ferret as well, despite being in my mid twenties. Once I was on a team full with rental and a few experienced players, playing against a team that was.. well.. a team! a proper airsoft team. game was about progressing as far as possible once the time had reached 30 minutes (or something like that) just encouraged everyone to run into the fire, shot, take their hit, run to spawn and run back. we mopped the floor with them. One problem I have noticed thou is a lot of them are afraid of getting hit. sometimes you see a stack of 10 at a doorway non wanting to rush thru it.. I always try to convince them before going thru myself. not really a problem for me, but I feel they are missing out on a lot of fun that way!! WE are talking very intense CQB now btw.

Surely we are not going to discuss ergonomics again^^? http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/15148-to-prove-a-point-to-a-moronic-mate-are-aks-ergonomic/ CYMA M4 is cheap and break easily. CYMA AK VFC-clone is the most sturdy aeg you can get for that price. Even the old CYMA TM clones I know someone who had one for 10 years without ever opening it up (externally very beat up thou!) and are generally regarded as better than the gun they clone.
-
get the CYMA, they are sturdy as few things. pretty much all AEGs have have higher than allowed fps out of the box (correct me if I am wrong)... generally shops can downgrade them for £20-30 and sorry, do you want an AK or do you want a M4? No. Not if you are under 18.
-
...but non of the threads are asking for AKs?? Thou I agree that he should read the first link.
-
I disagree. Firstly, the cm.045 is also a VFC clone. Secondly, the only one above cm.048 is cm.050, to the best of my knowledge. Thirdly, mine shoots very nicely out of the box. would a new hop improve it? probably, but that's the case with almost any AEG. Fourth, I just very recently got complimented on how quiet my CYMA was.. not that I really can comment on this as how loud or quiet an AEG is something that I have never taken noticed of or cared about. Thou if he is going to to open the gearbox, even for spring change. The gearbox used is very easy to work with compared to other ones I've had the misfortune to open. and yes, they are full metal, save for the furniture Heard about several places that takes £20 to add you to UKARA database or for site membership before doing the UKARA database or whatever. Mine is thru TWA, that does it for free. They did however ask for me to bring my own paperwork. Also worth to add that if he is under 18, two tone or not, the AEG needs to be a gift (for example bday, religious holidays). No money, services or other can pass in exchange for it.
-
which video? lol, no I'm just messing around. a kid being filmed would be the issue. Guess a parent would have to sign some form or something.
-
CYMA cm.048 is the one to get Really robust and good performance. you will have to have the spring downgraded no matter which gun you buy. but I think taiwangun can do it for you.. for free, or an extra cost.. or the cost of the spring.. never quite understood, their English is so broken. http://www.taiwangun.com/en/electric-air-soft-guns?pr=8 cm.045, cm.048 and cm.050 is VFC based, much better than the old TM based ones.
-
hate it when kids film you. I mean adults filming is one thing, but KIDS??!
-
If they can handle being shot, fall, taking hits, playing by the rules.. yea sure. But it is very unfair towards the opposite team player if he shots a kid and the kid start crying. Maybe test to shoot at them at home with an AEG before you bring them to a game. sounds horrible, but they are going to get shot at the skirmish in either case, saves them the humiliation of reacting in public. Another issue is filming.

face mesh is very uncomfortable! bit too tacticool for my liking, considered full face mesh thou? plenty of nose room -
ASG is a rebrander.. thats why I stay faaaaar away from everything they sell, unless I know who manufacture it. then I try to get the non ASG one, unless there is a good reason to get the ASG (price, availability)

not sure about standards.. but some plexi can withstand a lot more than a BB at 550fps.. and soft pet type plastic can withstand loads of blunt force.. take an empty pet bottle, and try to lit it up with a hot aeg and a few shots with an airsoft sniper rifle.. likely there will be no penetration.. not take a sledge hammer and hit it in the middle.. likely no penetration. sure, if you get a full auto burst in your face at close range you might have to make a new visor due to it being deformed, but it's very unlikely your eyes will be hurt! love the helmet btw, looks like you can fit glasses under it, might look into making one myself oh and whatever you do, TEST the plastic before using it I've made two lower facemasks myself (never used them thou). one was taking cardboard, then gluing plastic bits, then newspaper over that. the other one was simple cutting open one of those fancy ketchup bottle, cut it a certain way and the shape is like it was made for a facemask, I don't have it available for photo now, but I will take a picture when I can! -
Not to mention when both sides start doing it and the sport become utterly pointless ^^
-
As for the eye protection part. I've had problems finding ones that fit with my glasses and lower mesh (always keeping my eyes open for better options mind you!). If barrel colliding with them they would be very likely to come off. Glasses offers no protection, a bb hitting them would mean glass and potentially the bb (especially if at close range) would hit the eye.

Correction, it's not the sole in these boots that make kneeling a pain, it's the overall construction.might have to do with the steel cap. Used to wear cycling shoes thou (due to being hardcore cyclist). No what so ever flex in the sole, which is excellent for cycling, but makes anything else but cycling & walking very awkward! Not sure how hard the soles are, I cannot test it either at the moment. But I never recall having a problem due to them being too soft!
