  1. Played at YTA- Borderlands yesterday, Starting out we got there about 8, unpacked and got a couple of covered and readied up, little of a downside as their generator wouldn't stay alive and they informed us there was no food on but this is airsoft and except for wanting a morning coffee all was well. The brief was detailed but not overly long and the Head-marshal knows how to shout, first game was an attack/defend game with one side running sticky bombs down at 3 tanks, the other holding them off as long as possible, defenders had limited lives so it was a timed game. My 416 loved it's new EPM-1s and the Theta Optics Scope I've just acquired meant I could see my targets really well. the games played really well we then played a larger zone capture game where one side pushed four zones with flags and once a flag was planted they had cleared a zone meaning the defenders couldn't use it at that point, we attacked first and ran through the 4 zones in order with my squad hitting the last zone repeatedly to thin out the final defence for our team. we then did the defence, they struggled to take the first zone and then they decided to hit the zone we had left undefended before swinging around and pushing us on the last zone, this is when we had the one and only incident of the day, the other team had a small group that had come late that decided that it was perfectly acceptable to full auto and overkill players, my self and four others got shredded at short range despite multiple calls of hit and even telling them to stop overkilling (an overkill of 20+ rounds after the hit call at under 10m), the refs were on them like bloodhounds and had stern words even dropping everyone down to semi for the rest of the day, the late guys left in the huff and the quality of the games went up. All in all we had a great time and I'd recommend YTA sites to everyone
  2. Potentially two vying for worst; 1) short range dmr to the adam's apple which choked me causing me to trip head first into a ditch with brambles and nettles in or 2) tripping in a sprint and twisting (protect the gun moment) only to land ribs first on a stump, pretty sure I broke/cracked but never got it confirmed
  3. Yeah it's all good, it's a little more sensitive but I take it steady as I can, take the time to heal and do as they tell you. With airsoft just take your time and don't be afraid to step away and say it's too much
  4. Yeah, laying on the floor debating the rest of your life as blind in one eye is unpleasant, it hurt a lot!
  5. I did late Roman (410AD) and War of the Roses (Late 15th) and yeah more armour equals more ouchies honestly, you tend to have a lot more mass which means if you screw up it tends to be all or nothing, I broke 3 ribs in my first ever event and then once I got plate I ended up with a ridiculous list of injuries. So far airsoft has been much kinder on me
  6. Ding ding ding, we have a winner yeah it was a 1v1 reenactment fight, we were both wearing full-plate armour, I had a poleaxe he had a glaive, our weapons locked pushed against each other somehow, I don't remember it too well (metal stick hitting you in the head has that affect), it struck my cheek cut either side of my eye, cut through my eyelid and smooshed my eye leaving a 90% graze on my eyeball, I almost lost consciousness managed to steady myself but neither of my eyes would open which is bloody scary, went to the hospital they poured disinfectant into my eye which really hurts (to quote the nurse "like having an icicle jammed in your eye") and had to put cream on the eyeball for a while. was kinda cool crying blood occasionally but as a teacher not great but yeah not the most fun
  7. I unfortunately took a glaive to my eye a few years back, it's left seemingly no permanent damage but I'm always aware of my eyes nowadays as honestly I've never felt anything as terrifying as suddenly losing my vision. I took my time getting back into airsoft after that and since I take care to always use good eye-pro and be willing to fall back if it gets too hairy, I'll personally fall back a bit than engage in CQB too much. Honestly taking a few shots to my eye-pro actually relieved me of my tension about my eyes. Good luck to yourself and take it steady
  8. Played at a new site yesterday. It started off not so great, my h8r decided it doesn't want to keep the CO2 in anymore and prefers to spew it all out of the valve immediately leaving me without a sidearm (not the end of the world but sad as it was it's second time out and I've just sorted a holster for it), we started with a bizarre escort mission where one of your team couldn't die but had to sit in a wheelbarrow and be taken up a road, teams were really unbalanced with us having lots of rentals and the other side a lot of guys with snipers/dmrs and ghillie suits ended walking to safezone with my mate's brand new g3 that decided to just stop working. Came back out to defend and the guy in the barrow for their side decided to full auto me in the face under 10m with an ARP9, I have to admit I was starting to think an early home and spend the afternoon relaxing with a beer at this point. He also had to have his riot shield taken off of him as it made it near impossible to take out the guy pushing the barrow. they eventually won and there was a lot of grumbling from our side about sportsmanship and the fact that they were wiping the floor with us. next game went a little better ARP9 guy was off sulking (his gun broke and he wasn't allowed his riot shield). Again teams were unbalanced but as they were defending on limited lives we were slowly cracking through them so it felt a little better and not just like being a target on a range. Lunch came and went and ARP9guy got called a few choice words (not by me) when he declared that "I don't aim, I just spray people" I didn't see him after that point he appeared to pack up and leave as he wasn't at his table after the next game. Afternoon games were both pushback and teams had been mixed up leading to better balance, both games were intense and highly fun to play. we started on the attack and clear communication and tactics pushed us through their defence with our snipers able to one counter-snipe but two provide cover so that we could push up and get in their faces, my squad led a huge flank on the final objective meaning the defenders had to fight on four fronts and quickly folded. Second game we managed to hold them off for a decent amount of time picking off the ones that got into range and calling targets for our boys with longer range, they slowly picked us off one by one but you could tell we were tiring them out, as the attacks got slower and the amount of full auto going up, second objective we setup around the castle with sparse defenders inside the castle, they had done a lot of flanking on the first objective so we expected attacks from multiple angles and that's what we ended up with they never got behind us but they hit us from 3 sides but they struggled to gain ground and eventually their attacks petered out with a lack of smoke and suppression they seemed to give up the assault as I assume they were also running low on ammo leading to the marshals to call it early we went back and packed away the atmosphere was better in the afternoon and with people bantering more. My new Specna Arms 416 performed beautifully with a lot more range and accuracy than I expected from an out of the box gun and overall my squad had a lot of fun despite being covered in bramble cuts, we're getting our gear together and improving my shopping list now consists of more mags, fixing my pistol and a scope so I can see my targets a little better
  9. Honestly I buy guns because they look pretty, I've just picked up a Specna Arms H21 (it's a HK416) purely because it's one of my favourite guns appearance-wise, if it doesn't perform I'll put money into it to get it up there, but the main reason was I liked the aesthetic, gun before that was an Umarex h8r gen2, again purely on looks. I don't do it to show off I buy my kit cause it looks cool to me, deep down I want outstanding performance but that comes with the dark sorcery of teching which I haven't the foggiest about. I think I fall into the category of "I don't care if its cheap or expensive if it works good I'm happy" though it's always nice when people come over asking questions about your kit. My intro to the hobby was rocky and I think that's kinda made my way of thinking focus on the practical (Weirdly I've developed a slight stigma towards anything Marui and I'm not sure why) I want my kit to look a certain way but I'm not dropping loads on the official stuff as long as a cheap knock-off looks the part & does the job, and I want my guns to shoot well enough I'm not at a huge disadvantage on the field.
  10. Just bought a H21 from the Edge 2 series, out of the box it has been amazing, I've yet to get it into a game but I'll post on this thread as soon as I have a chance to game and let you know
  11. The AM008 is a lovely gun, I like it but I was hoping to go for something as an upgrade. With the 416 I had heard that it had Avalon V2 internals (or something like that) and was absolutely amazing I have very little idea on how to upgrade and honestly not to sound thick but I have no idea what a standard V2 gearbox is
  12. Hi All, so I've been playing airsoft for a couple of years and over time got a couple of new toys; I started with the Ares Amoeba AM-008 picked up a Massada that had been modded into a DMR beforehand (have no idea about it's internals and stuff or even brand) and a while back picked up a King Arms P90. I'm loving my AM-008 but I was thinking about upping my tech slightly which has left me debating picking up a Umarex H&K 416 a5 or a Tokyo Marui High-cycle Aug. I'm leaning towards the 416 and have read good things about it but should I save the money and just upgrade my AM-008, is there anything I should be drastically aware of about the 416? Is the Aug a good alternative or just a solid CQB weapon? And how would if I stick with the AM-008 I upgrade it? Thank you in advance
  13. Doesn't sound it in the slightest mate, removing potential basic faults is the best start to problem solving. I chrono using 0.2g and I've never played with hop on it so I don't think it could be either of those
  14. Brilliant mate, thank you so much. I'll have a go and let you know how it works out
  15. Thanks for the replies guys, it has jumped up about 15-20 fps from last use and I want to get working again, on heating the spring do I want to let it cool naturally? (I assume quenching will bring hardness) how would you suggest heating? sorry for the barrage of questions, I'm pretty new and want to get it working within limits again
