  1. So how would the chrono reading tell you they're lied about the bb weight? The fps reading on the chrono would match up to the expected fps from that weight
  2. Where is the question in the first post? This. You'd be surprised how much personal information you can find about people in the public domain, alot of it they put out themselves without even realising it
  3. Maybe for when the claimed and actual weights are at either end of the weight ranges. If the cheating player were to use a 0.32 bb at 1.2j the fps would be 284
  4. That makes no sense at all. The joules is calculated using the weight given by the player so if the player lies about the bb weight then the joules reading will be wrong making a hot gun appear ok
  5. I wouldn't worry about him knowing your home town as they'll have to find you in over 15,000 people
  6. I can guarantee he hasn't reported anything to the police.
  7. Edit: to be completely honest, reading the screenshots again you both come across as bad as each other
  8. Afaik there's nothing in the vcra about the seller's age so this guy is talking out of his arse. As for what to do now, @EDcaseis right. Ignore and block. Also I would probably report him to airsofthub as I'm guessing you're not the first person he's done this to. This is a lesson in why putting personal information on a public advert isn't a good idea
  9. Springfield Armoury are the original manufacturer of the real M1 carbine and shut down in 1968. The current company going by the name Springfield Armoury were formed in 1974 and are not related. No real gun manufacturers also make airsoft guns, some may allow it under licence but play no part in production. The closest you'll get is if you buy a umarex walther clone as walther is owned by umarex but even then manufacturer is outsourced to a 3rd party. The description on the link to defcon says airsoft multiple times. It's firing 6mm bbs That's an airgun channel not airsoft, hence its name.
  10. An extra half a joule is quite a jump in muzzle energy. Eg putting the full auto limit up to 1.63j would be 418.87fps with a .2g bb. Anyone running a gun that hot deserves said gun to be inserted so far up their arse they choke on the flash hider
  11. That's a shame to hear. I admit I've only been a handful of times and mainly on the Wednesday evenings. The only real gripe I've had is that sometimes the wait between games can be a bit long. Either way I encourage anyone to try as many sites as possible as I've had great days at supposedly crap sites and there are some supposedly good sites I wouldn't go back to if i was paid.
  12. Wow. First not being able to spell the manufacturers name caught my attention (it's not like it's written on the box), then I saw the price at only £15 less than retail. Then I saw he wants £100 for shipping
  13. £100 for shipping? Are you high or something?
  14. Ome of my old regular sites used to run in a similar fashion to how @Colin Allendescribed and didn't have marshals either and things ran fine. However I think it worked there as the site started as more like a group of friends meeting up to play rather than a commercial site. At the end of the day the only way to completely eliminate any chance of anyone cheating the chrono is for sites to provide all guns and bbs, but we all know that's not going to happen. What can be done though is to put in procedures which increase the chances of catching anyone tempted to try so they either don't bother or go elsewhere. That definitely rings a bell. Was the group TLA or ARABs?
  15. Have you tried the tunnels at Epsom? They're a bit light on facilities but well run and being underground the weather isn't so much of a factor This. The only site I've seen which allowed full auto in cqb was electrowerkz in London and that shut almost 20 years ago
  16. Wasn't she the one gobbing off on arnies about being police in Australia and that she personally stopped a mass shooting?
  17. No wonder he's having a financial crisis if he paid over £950 for that Also to whoever it is that's made a second account just for calling out bullshit prices, I see you and I salute you 😉
  18. Hopefully it won't be such an absolute shit show this time round. I won't hold my breath though if it's the same mob running it
  19. Just make sure it's got the new grips which don't turn themselves into a grenade
  20. So confident and yet so wrong. Private sales are subject to the same laws as shops, whether or not private sellers are as strict as shops is a different matter. You're right that a defence isn't needed for ownership but that's not what we're discussing here. UKARA isn't the only defence and nor is it a legal requirement. A seller just has go be satisfied that the buyer is using it to play airsoft hence why on site shops can sell to players without a site membership. If the vcra was a person it would be old enough to drink in pubs and vote. How are people still getting this wrong?
  21. Volts are volts. The circuit doesn't care about the chemistry of the battery. I've been using lipo batteries exclusively for the past 15 years or so and guess how many guns have had a mosfet. None and how many gins have had failures in that time? Again none. There's alot of bullshit put out about lipos and a hell of a lot of it is sales nonsense specifically designed to part the unwary from their cash by getting them to buy shit they don't need
  22. In the 20 years I've been playing I don't think I've ever had my balls weighed. It's normally a case of being asked what weight I'm using and the guy chronoing to accept it. Sometimes they'll use their own bbs and watch the flightpath of the shot to make sure it doesn't go straight up after 10 yards. Unfortunately the only sure fire way to prevent people from cheating the chrono is for sites to insist everyone uses their ammo and gas which is only going to drive players away. All that can really be done is to make it such a faff to attempt to cheat that it puts those who want to off and for players to be alert to anyone playing silly buggers. It would also help if sites are seen to be doing something when a cheat is found no matter who they are. I'm sure we've all seen or heard of people cheating and getting away with it as they're a regular and mates with the owner
  23. For a regular sunday skirmish I can't see the point as even if you do pick up something useful about what one group are doing it won't tell you anything about the what the rest of the other side are doing. It also puts your side 1 gun down and as it would need to be done away from any firefights you won't have overall situational awareness making the player as useful and welcome as a fart in a spacesuit. For milsim I can imagine it could be useful if done right, but as they're already pay to win this would only make me avoid them even more
