  1. This is more than likely the case. Then when one of them ends up one eye short of industry standard, their parents, who probably stumped up the cash for this O'Brien ass hat to profit, will be the ones in local press and on their local MP's FB page calling for airsoft to be banned as it's too dangerous.
  2. I still wear it, unfortunately, but then again, not much use for Virtus at sea!
  3. Always good to see a FRAGILE label on your helmet box...
  4. Awesome! What brand tape do you recommend to secure it to the upper?
  5. Well, many days after starting, I've finally finished all 200 pages. Apart from figuring out that I really need to do more with my spare time, here are my main take homes from the thread: The MWS in all its iterations is, as Snoop may say, the shiznit The MK18 version looks ace but the design is mental The third party support for the platform is huge @AlphaBearhates Nuprol The one constant upgrade that almost everyone agrees on as being performance enhancing and therefore an essential purchase, is the SixG brass nub Whenever retailers get any MWS's or TM original parts in stock (especially mags), they disappear rapidly, so act fast Angry Gun are shit, but they're not, sort of HAO Industries kits are incredible looking (416 and L119A2 🤤) but are jaw-droppingly expensive @AlphaBearreally hates Nuprol Fire Support provide excellent service to the needy and cash-rich MWS brethren Depending on barrel length, ammo weight, nub type, gas type, ambient conditions, lunar alignment and inside leg measurement, FPS ranges from 200 - 1,400 fps The green gas mag mod is not necessarily necessary @AlphaBearfrigging hates Nuprol Become familiar with Impulse101 and other Japanese sites and order well in advance of needing spare TM parts Nozzles, nozzle springs, TM hop rubbers and a decent armourer's wrench should be in everyone's tool/spares box This thread is an absolute goldmine of people willing to share information, admire other people's builds and welcoming other people in joining the growing number of MWS owners @AlphaBearabsolutely, positively hates Nuprol Thanks everyone. Looking forward to receiving the stock alert email telling me it's time to sell a kidney (or kid) as my MWS journey is about to begin.
  6. Prommy tightbore and purple hop rubber and nub from Eagle 6, plus an Odin from BZ Tactical
  7. Why is it whenever you have the funds, the retailers don't have the stock?

      Hi @C-Diddy! 👋

All of us have experienced that problem.... 😤

Not easy at the moment with Brexit and other countries charging extra for postage!!!! 🤬

Aahh yes ‘Murphy’s law of whatdafuckery !’ 🤦‍♂️
When you have the dosh no one has the goods you want for sale but when you don’t have the dosh EVERYONE has the goods you want for sale ! 🤬

  8. Sounds like a good idea, and yes, it's easy to clock up the cost! I had the Viper VX and it was fine for a couple of games, then I noticed it wearing in places. No way I wanted to trust a £600 gun to a £12 sling. I got a the BFG VCAS from UK Tactical and it's absolutely awesome.
  9. Nothing to do with your question, but having spent all that money on producing a cracking gun, please, do yourself a favour and protect it by investing in a more robust sling.
  10. It's unlikely unfortunately due to work. Never been either, which is daft as I'm literally 5 mins away. Usually see a lot of the international guys at The Railway in Ringwood! Plan on being at GZ whenever I can and, if Camouflage works out, there as well.
  11. South coast massive meet up in May then 😆 I'm over in Ringwood. Be good to have another site close by. Still mourning the loss of Combat South and hope the guys can get another site soon.
  12. That is probably the most comprehensive response I could've got! Really appreciate it buddy, thank you, and the gun looks great 👍🏼
  13. I'm probably opening myself up for a fair amount of abuse, or at least a stack of eye rolling and "here we go again" type comments, but I appreciate your comments and thoughts regardless; I'm looking to get my first GBBR with a view to building a gun I can (effectively) field next year. I'm toying with a L119A2 build (told you the eye-rolling would start) but am not too concerned with it being 100% accurate. I know I'd need the Angry Gun rail and outer barrel, and personally I'd want a Magpul CTR stock, Magpul pistol grip and foregrip and run it with a suppressor, but those are all decisions for the future. My question is, is this a viable idea for a TM GBBR, and if so, what would be a good base platform to start with; the M4 MWS or CQB-R? Like I mentioned, I'm looking at this as a longer term project, primarily to make it easier from a finance point of view, but also because I'm a fickle bastard and may change my mind halfway through - I may end up wanting a more generic SF M4-style build as I am a big fan of Seal Team-style loadouts for example - so would love to hear your experiences, recommendations and warnings of any pitfalls. Thank you.
  14. Definitely go with an established brand for eye pro. Plenty of choice in the £12-20 range. Again, you're just as well looking at ScrewFix for something as you are eBay or an airsoft retailer. Just on the webbing issue, your lad would be just as well wearing cargo pants with button down pockets and sticking the mags in there for now. If you hadn't already bought the extra mags, as he already has a hi-cap, I would have suggested just taking a sandwich bag full of spare BBs in his pocket, and fill as you go.
  15. It's so easy to fall into a massive rabbit hole with airsoft, and once you get one thing, there will always be something else you can convince yourself you "need" to buy to go with it 😂 Don't be put off or intimidated by people at the site who are carrying enough kit to stage a revolution. Most of it is for show, as that forms part of the hobby too. You and your lad are squaring away the basics, and the extras you're asking about are all sensible progressions. Keep the questions coming as people like your boy are the future of the hobby. We want you guys to enjoy it and keep coming back for more. Just make sure you clean all the external dirt of the gun when you get home, and give the barrel a clean every few games. Some people do this every game, which is no bad thing, but not absolutely necessary. For gas guns, give them a bit more TLC, cleaning and lightly lubricating, and always keep a bit of gas in the magazines to keep the o-rings from drying out and shrinking.
  16. Don't leave batteries in the gun and if you do end up getting Lipos (recommended) pick up a charging bag as well. Helmets can come later and, at Ground Zero, are pretty useful preventing bumps and scratches from all the trees. As others have mentioned, anything over the head is recommended to take the sting out of a BB hit. I favour a boonie if I'm too hot in my helmet. They also provide a bit of extra protection from the sun, especially if you can get one with a detachable neck cover. Gloves are also something to consider as a shot to the finger is really sore. Don't think you have to pick everything up at once though. Build it up over time and after a couple of games you'll soon be able to prioritise purchases based on the freshest set of 6mm welts! Military 1st is a great site to pick up all sorts of kit. Link is here. Their prices are good, service is quick and stock list is huge.
  17. Ground Zero is my local site. As others have said, it's big and the terrain can be challenging. Please make sure your lad's wearing something more supportive than trainers on his feet. Really easy to roll an ankle there. On eye pro, I'd move away from mesh asap. Bolle Trackers or Cobra are decent and only a few quid. Look at DIY places rather than airsoft shops for them and you'll find them cheaper 😆 Hope he has a great time and don't be afraid to ask other players questions either. Airsofters are generally friendly and also love to show their kit off and share advice.
  18. I'm sure you will enjoy it as you're going into it with a good attitude and understanding. Let us know how you get on.
  19. Good ankle support and comfort are what you're looking for. Also, don't underestimate the value of decent socks too. You don't want your feet sliding around in a pair of trainer socks, or sweating like a cheap salad in thick hiking socks. Go for natural fibres.
  20. I did. Did I make a great job of it? Noooo 😂 Everything works but I'll certainly need to neaten things up You're not allowed to mention the word 'tan' to me, you know I have no willpower. I keep looking at stocks, pistol grips and foregrips as it is 😆
  21. Let's see how these badgers perform. Titan 7.4v with a new charging bag (smaller than I thought!) and a free patch from Platoon
  22. Welcome to the Forum and the sport. Can't add anything other than the advice you've already been given regarding buying a two-tone 🤢 This is a great place to get advice from some very experienced players, so as you (hopefully) get into it, don't be afraid to come on here and ask questions. It's helped me a lot. So again, welcome, wear sensible footwear, don't skimp on eye-pro (those two should be at the top of your purchasing list imo before a RIF) call your hits and, above all, have fun. Oh, and be sure to spend a few last quality moments with your bank balance. You'll soon be parting ways 😆
  23. That's fair enough and sensible I'd say.Do they provide pre and post work info on the FPS? Be interesting to see.
  24. Mate, The Heresy Group! Fair play, do your own thing and if you want to take a £600 gun, rip everything out of it and spend a grand rebuilding it, go ahead. But if you go back to the Random Trashy days when Tim first got his TM 416 and listen to him saying how he's keeping it stock, the low FPS means nothing as range is still superb, it just goes to show what a fickle bunch us airsofters are 😆
