  1. Can confirm. I saw you about 15m in front of me lying behind a tree because I saw your tracer unit poking out, but didn't have an angle on you from where I was and didn't want to advance because the milsim brigade kept advancing down the path with their lights. I was turning my red dot on to shoot, then off afterwards because cheap red dots like mine tend to glow like a sun in the darkness as well!
  2. Just got back from Worthing Airsoft's annual Halloween night game and it was a whole heap of fun. Went down with my spring VSR with a red dot instead of a scope, as the rules are nothing over 1.14J as we don't allow NVGs or any of that at Worthing night games so MEDs are a big no-no. Having that level playing field is one of the things that gets me down every year, even though I'm awful at night games since I've only played two now and I steer clear of milsim events for more reasons than just not wanting to play against NVG gang with my naked eyeballs in the dark. So, what went well? For starters, I had 100% accuracy. Literally every shot I took I hit. Using a bolt action at night is great because it's quiet, but it's a challenge because you really have to make sure you hit because if you don't they're swinging around powering on their torch and lighting you up both metaphorically and literally. Every shot was probably no more than about 15m tops because at Worthing Airsoft it gets absolutely pitch black levels of darkness, especially when it's overcast like it was tonight. All I was doing was shooting at silhouettes, tracer units and torches when people had them on and for the most part people were really good at taking their hits, though at those ranges you really hear the impact as well. The games themselves were good fun, basically skirmish type games that you'd see on a regular game day but played in the pitch black and only with about 25 players all in. Lots of sneaky shenanigans were done, getting lost happened more than once and many laughs were had as most took it in the spirit of the game. My friend was just going around knife killing everyone in the darkness until they finally clocked onto his silliness ? So, what didn't go so well? Marshalls allowed full auto. With most engagements happening quite close, this caused some issues and they eventually just said semi only, which was definitely the right call (though it should've been semi only from the start). Also, there was some absolutely laughable levels of non-hit taking at times. I lined up a shot at about 10m away, heard the very audible noise of it hitting the guy, only for him to flinch, scurry forward and start calling out to another person asking them what team they were on. He took the second that was aimed a bit higher up. Also, there was a bunch of milsim-ers there and they were predictably milsim-y. The team play, the callouts, the tryharding I didn't really mind, but they moaned a LOT and were party to some of that laughable hit taking I mentioned earlier. Me and another guy were set up watching a path, they walked right in front of us about 5m away and we lit them up as they approached, heard the BBs hitting them and they kept pushing forwards. They eventually took it when a third person started rinsing them as well as us, but she was using tracers that visibly bounced off them so they couldn't exactly not take those. Will I go next year? You bet I will. However, I'd hope to have my SR-25 or one of my m21s all set up for it and I'll run those. It would've been really nice to have something silent and semi-auto rather than having to slowly pull that bolt after every shot while trying to not be heard. I was planning on running my HPA m21, but when I took it to the range last week it started jamming again, so that was a no. Oh well, these things happen
  3. I'd go for the bang. One-use pyro is one of the biggest cash sinks for a lot of airsofters and in my opinion is basically a scam. Reusable pyro is the way forward!
  4. I only played half the day today purely because I'm still recovering from a foot injury I sustained two and a half weeks ago when I was out for a run and I took a fall. Was good to get out there and play again, especially since numbers were so low because apparently most airsofters are scared of the rain; it only rained during the morning sign-in, chrono and safety brief, then half way into the first game it cleared up all day until we were heading home when Mother Nature let us know she had been gracious enough to let us enjoy our game day and now it was time to leave with a heavy thunderstorm! The m700 also continues to impress. Chronoed right on the power limit at 1.1J for no MED and it really slings those .5s out there. The jury is still out on the .5s, as not being able to see my shots is difficult as airsoft guns are not that accurate in the wider scheme of things even when you do everything to make it so, but at the same time it means my targets also have no idea the shots are coming in. Plus, .5s are cheaper than .48s, probably because people don't like the fact you can't see them. Still got most of my bag, so this will probably last me a good few months, so I'll get very used to them moving forward. If I decide I don't like them, I'll just go back to .48s. In terms of the gameplay itself, first shot I took I got a complaint against me. Not sure what was said, but one of the marshalls came around the corner after I hit a guy on it 5 seconds earlier. Walked over to near where I was and asked if there were any snipers around as he couldn't find me in my ghillie. I answered and he was like "oh, it's you. That's fine then." I think it was probably accusations of either a hot gun or shooting within MED, because .5s really do hit hard even on 1.1J. Was also on a skill-up day as I decided to go out there with the short m700 magazines instead of the long ones, so I was out in game with 40 shots in total (4x mags with 10rds in each). We then did a rolling assault where the enemy team didn't clear me out twice. First time I started harassing them outside their spawn and two of my friends on the other team hunted me down eventually, but the second time I decided to use the opportunity to practice my sneaky sniper stalking skills. I waited for them to start pushing onto the next objective and opted to just follow the enemy team down the hill towards the objective. I didn't shoot anyone, but having to pay attention not just to what's in front of me, but also behind me and all around me was a real challenge. Had to move very slowly to avoid getting spotted by respawning players behind me, but I managed to follow the attacking team all the way down to the next objective and right up to the game end. I almost took a shot at two of the younger regular players at the end, but wasn't able to line one up through the foliage that I was 100% confident would hit, so I held off in the end. I didn't hit many people during the game, but it was one of the most enjoyable games I've had in a while.
  5. TM p226s have functional decockers as well. In terms of the half-cock functionality of the 1911, I believe the TM does have that but mine is currently away because screw using that during the winter.
  6. I feel like that's their first mistake; thinking AI500 is anything more than a large skirmish day with ammo limits and basic uniform colour palette rules. It's far removed from any filmsim/battlesim or milsim I've ever been to, for sure!
  7. As someone who pretty much exclusively uses gas guns (gas snipers, worst of all!), it's a fun part of the hobby laying down a tarot reading, consulting the stars and making an offering to mother nature every night before a game day. Puts the ritual back in pre-game day rituals.
  8. @Shizbazkihas gone over the fine details so I don't have much more to add on that, however I will give the other side and say I prefer the Wolverine Bolt to the Mancraft SDiK. The Mancraft kit is good and not needing any batteries is nice, but in a platform where consistency is key, the consistency of the solenoid-based Wolverine Bolt just wins out. Also, I've found the solenoid system is quieter than the mechanical system of the Mancraft. The Mancraft will be a lot quieter than a spring setup for sure, but the Wolverine will be even quieter than that, which for a sniper platform is also very important. On the topic of tanks and stuff, a 13ci tank is all you will need for a HPA sniper or DMR setup. I get about 300 shots from my 10ci tank with my VSR setup with the Wolverine Bolt (out of production now, which makes me sad because I love it) and about 500 shots with my m21 setup with the Wolverine Hydra Gen2. The only time I need a larger tank is at events like AI500 or the NAF and that's mostly just for the m21 setup because semi-auto shots come out a lot more than bolt action shots, but at anything else, even a full weekend of harrassing GIs at Gunman's Namsoft events, a won't run out of shots. Personally, I'm not a fan of CO2 because while a tank will be consistent shot to shot, a CO2 bulb will be reliably inconsistent; the power will drop steadily until it starts to fall off a cliff towards the end. Yes, a CO2 regulator is smaller and can fit inside the stock, but it's not worth the inconsistency. I have a 10ci tank in a stock pouch (the regulator pokes out, but I'm not shooting from the left shoulder anyway so it's fine), but my friend runs a 13ci tank in an old mesh ghillie bag zip tied to his belt and it works really well. I just prefer not to have a line as I drag myself through bushes and along the ground a lot and don't want it getting caught on everything. One thing you will need to consider is filling your bottle. Most people invest in a scuba tank and fill station, but if you're only using small tanks a hand pump is a viable and far cheaper option. You would need a proper airgun pump that will go up to 3000psi at least, but filling a 13ci tank will only take about 20 mins at most. I took my hand pump to last year's AI500 as I had to refill my tank a few times through the event and it was a quick 10 mins of pumping at respawn.
  9. I generally like .32s, but the stock rubber won't lift them out of the box and you may see it creep over the limit on certain gasses, however there's a very simple and cheap upgrade part called the sixG nub. Honestly, the sixG nub is the only upgrade you really need to do with these for them to shoot pretty damn well on green gas all year round (height of winter at temps under 5 celcius you may need red gas)
  10. Why not go the whole way and look at the TM LCP or the TM Bodyguard 380? TM even make appendix carry holsters for them, or you can put a suppressor on them and they're pocket mk23s
  11. I'm also interested in this, but what I ideally want tends to start around £1000, but most are around the £2000 - £3000 mark after a cursory glance on the internet at my options. I just think a thermal rifle scope on my m700 would be "fun"
  12. I didn't play today as I injured my foot running earlier in the week, but I still went along to Worthing this weekend. I probably could've got away with it as it's healing nice and I can walk on it now just fine, but I didn't want to push it, so I instead cancelled my booking and went down just to chat with people and also devote time to my m700 and resetting my mk23 and MWS to .32s after I had to set them to .28s for AI500. I also took the m21 along as I wanted to test it again at DMR power (1.64J at my site). Started with the m700 at 10am. Took an hour for lunch and by 3:30pm it was done. Yes, it took me 4 and a half hours and I still don't have a 2J configuration for it, but I've decided to just keep this build as a 1J build as it's phenomenal with .48s and .5s; I have a 2nd and 3rd m700 that I'll set for 2J. A bit dickish as I can point blank people with it and .5s slap hard, but it's within the limit at 1.1J on .5s. Can't see my shots at all, but sighted it in on .48s and then applied a bit more hop and it seems to be hitting the targets as I can hear it impact the metal. Will see next game day how it performs! From what I heard there was some poor hit taking today and apparently there was almost a fight. I always miss all the fun... ?
  13. Trust, but even so getting BBs out of those MWS mags to put site BBs in would've been a pain in the backside. GBBR mags are a pain to load and unload. Don't get me wrong, I love my HPA setups, but unfortunately there are a bunch of wankers who make us all look bad ?
  14. No, not voluntary chrono. Second day they rounded everyone up for chrono and put stickers on guns that passed. Found without a sticker? Kicked off. I think the punishment of putting it away is generally for people who aren't taking the piss; maybe you're running a gas gun and due to temperature it has gone up to 1.2J or something. However, in that regard I'd probably put that the punishment for failing chrono is you'll get sent home, but then if I get that scenario I'd just tell the player to put the gun away. HPA wankers will always be HPA wankers who dial down their regulator for chrono, then jack it all the way up afterwards. They were doing random chronos in game on day 2 as well though and I got random chrono'd myself.
  15. It was during chrono. They did delay the start to the games on the second day so that they could chrono everyone after players let their thoughts known on the lack of chrono, but not using site ammo so an element of chrono dodging could still be done, but at least not as much as not chronoing at all. And then the tan team started shooting at us while we were still chronoing because one of the tan players shouted game on as a prank and their whole team rushed out of their spawn and started shooting us in the back. Marshalls quickly stopped that and sent them back, though not sure exactly what they did about that player, as they only found out after the event when the guy bragged about it on social media.
  16. Not 100% sure as it's hearsay, but heard from one of the tan team that they got booted straight away.
  17. I don't know the exact details as I was nowhere near it, but from what I understand it was a collision with a player where they didn't see each other. Wasn't just a tumble, it was an assisted tumble. Not sure if I'm one of the two people, as I wasn't shouting praises but at the same time I wasn't entirely negative about the event. As I posted in the other thread, I had fun and enjoyed the weekend. The negatives were that there were too many players for the site, leading to meat grinder chokepoints, not enough marshalls for the too many players and some truly special players who used the godmode cheat before we started playing which was only made worse by not having enough marshalls. There were a lot of great people there, but there were also a lot of utter twats though a lot of the former left early and Sunday was much improved for it! The lack of chrono wasn't as big a deal for me as when I started airsoft nobody chronoed and there were never issues as well as Vietnam games typically not running a chrono and never having any issues, though from what I've heard they really needed to because airsofters nowadays are a truly special bunch; apparently one of the speedsofters on the tan team was running a HPA pistol on .32s at 500fps, or around 3.7J once you do the maths. A bit much for CQB. The only other negative I can think of was a personal one; they didn't allow BASRs at all, even if they were 1J and running .28s like every AEG, and as I've gone on about earlier in the thread the "DMR" rules were pointless. I would've loved to bring one of my 1J BASRs to play how I did (it would've worked well) or at least my m21 (though that's a personal regret as there were no rules against that for me). So, that's a bunch of negatives, so how did I have fun? I basically just played it my own way and had a lot of fun doing so. Working out where the long distance and/or concealed firing positions were, and making myself as small a target as possible was enjoyable and I got some amazing shots with the MWS, though I actually wish I brought the HPA m21 instead with a GBB pistol sidearm rather than a GBBR MWS and a NBB mk23 sidearm. None of my guns are as consistent on .28s, which I was running because I wasn't about to be a cheater by using heavier ammo than what was allowed, and shots were nowhere near as accurate as I'm used to, so I'm setting them all back to .32s this weekend! And it was a good workout, though I won't be repeating the experience; I far prefer my lightweight sniper setups. I took my heaviest loadout with the MWS and 8 gas magazines (1 in the MWS, 7 in the kit) inside a plate carrier with weighted training plates and on the belt with 4 spare pistol mags. I think all in all I was carrying about 20kg of kit and because I didn't bring any alternatives I kept it all loaded up all weekend. I was so dead on Sunday evening ? Also, the social side was fantastic. Hanging out with a bunch from Worthing Airsoft was really fun and meeting other like-minded individuals on green team was just as good. There were plenty of great people there who acknowledged that we were a bunch of nerds playing silly BB wars in a disused shopping mall. Again, I posted it in the other thread as well, but we found a pile of assorted mall junk including a bunch of clothing so naturally the only way we were going to the day #2 brief was in "costume"
  18. There were too many players for the site and it would've been way better with half the players (again. Like the Citadel) and marshalling could've been done better as CQB is a lot harder to marshall than woodland and they definitely didn't have enough experience on the marshall team nor the numbers to deal with the absolute asshats who were taking the piss when it came to hit-taking. However, what isn't being shared in this is that the most experienced marshall who was directing the games took a really nasty tumble, dislocated his knee and had to be rushed to hospital on the first day. He was back on crutches on day 2, which went a lot smoother. The Facebook drama went way, way too far in my opinion. Sure, there were some people offering constructive criticism, but there were others just dogpiling on the staff for player-led problems and as soon as that started happening, you lost me; the non-apology post by the staff wasn't great, but the response to it was a lot worse. At the end of the day, blaming marshalls for players not taking their hits is a bit weak; if players took their hits, marshalls don't get tied up in resolving the (countless) times non-hit taking was observed and can focus on keeping the game dynamic and interesting. If they had more numbers I think they could've done more about it (and that is where I think the blame there falls with them as you're always going to get at least some godmode meal team nine oper8rs at large events and need to plan for it), but I'll direct my annoyance more at the players who were taking the piss; probably about an 80:20 split of my ire for players and staff respectively. Seriously, the non-hit taking was absolutely awful at this event and was probably my biggest gripe; I personally saw a lot of it because I was silly(?) enough to bring a magnified optic to a CQB event and 5x zoom was helpful in spotting the BBs hitting their targets. Again, 2nd day was waaaaaaaaay better for hit-taking, though there were still some instances of clear piss-taking. Outside of that my only other gripe was their rules being a bit silly but I've already elaborated on that multiple times. I wanted to bring one of my (many) 1J bolt action builds, but they weren't allowed for reasons that still elude me. I went in with no expectations apart from the fact that I would make of the event what I would and I would find ways to enjoy myself. Honestly, I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend and had many good laughs. Did my sniper-y thing and crept into positions where I was either concealed in shadow (like a true edgyboi) or to where the target I was presenting the enemy was so tiny that it was never getting hit at those distances and just used the MWS for what it's great at. Next time (doubt there will be one at that venue though) I'll bring a bolt action if I'm allowed (?) or at least my HPA m21 even if it's a CQB venue like that. Also, it was a fantastic workout because I used my heavy setup with the weighted plates in my plate carrier as well as a LOT of gas magazines; probably about 20kg of gear I was lugging around all weekend and I managed it! Didn't lighten my load or give up on the idea, and I was a lot more active on day 2, running around the place to get to positions or across an area being fought over. Met lots of great guys there and really enjoyed the social aspect too. Also, we found a pile of abandoned clothing in our day 2 CP and decided that we would have a bit of fun. We rocked up to the morning brief on day 2 like this: Anyway, I'm tired after a lovely 6 hour trip back down to the south coast and I'm going to go collapse into a pile and not wake until work on Tuesday!
  19. Heading up to AI500 this weekend. I'm really not much of a CQB door-kicker as I play sniper at woodland sites for both skirmish and Vietnam games, so taking the opportunity to try out a secondary setup I want to use when sniping, just with the m700 instead of the MWS. MP9 in an SMG holster on my right and mk23 on my left. I'm just going to play in all the long areas where the MWS will shine and shadowy places where I can ambush with the mk23
  20. Only played half the day this weekend as I am still troubleshooting my KJ m700 on higher power, though I ran it in the morning on 1J as it seems to be really good there (it sends .48s to the moon with minimal hop applied on higher power). Honestly, was a bit of a frustrating one. I was really looking forward to getting out and playing this weekend, but it was a super busy day and they ran a rolling assault game where we weren't allowed to flank. Forcing a 40 vs 40 rolling assault into a narrow corridor just becomes a meat grinder and that's exactly what happened. Wasn't even close, we got slaughtered. However, this wasn't my main point of frustration. The worst part was that I managed to low crawl and sneak into flanking positions within the narrow field of play 3 times and every time I got shot in the back just as I was getting ready to shoot the enemy team in the side or back. I spent the whole game, which was pretty much the whole morning as we only did a warm up game beforehand, crawling incredibly slowly past the enemy line of sight while my friend drew their attention away from my movement and using site knowledge to get around what was otherwise a pretty impenetrable enemy defensive line only to get shot in the back by my own team every single time. Yes I was in a ghillie and expect a bit of friendly fire, but not every single time especially when my armband was around my unghillie'd wrist on the side they were shooting me from so it was clearly visible. Pretty sure two of the three times were the same rental players too. At least the first game was successful. Me and my friend set up to deny flankers on the three base domination warm up game and we denied the flank for the entire game from concealed positions. I did, however, remember why I don't like the mk23 as a sniper sidearm though with that awful squishy trigger making follow up shots hard to make accurately. Back to blowbacks next time! Also disappointing because my m700 is still overhopping .48s on 2J. I found that the middle intake valve + green gas is 2.1 - 2.2J at this time of year, so I know the power setup, but the hop still eludes me. Going to stick a 50 degree in as the 85 and 70 degree ones didn'ty work, but if it keeps doing this I might just make it my 1J bolt action of choice and do a slightly different build with my other m700 for a 2J build. Next week is AI500 and going with zero expectations. I'm no door-kicking CQB speedyboi (my CQB experience consists of urban sniping), so I'll be finding all the long areas and just playing there
  21. Looked into it already and where I'm looking I should be good as a legal permanent resident, even as a foreigner; that said, I will be going for citizenship through either naturalisation or marriage, whichever happens first.
  22. I'm a resident young'n here and I'm honestly planning on moving to the US in a few years through work and I'd be lying if I said 2A wasn't at least part of the reason (you could probably guess the states I'm looking at from that sentence alone). I grew up in the suburbs of Brighton (which is a very anti-gun place), but my father shot handguns a lot when he was younger and it was still legal. I got my first air rifle from my father, as well as a firm education on firearm safety, when I was about 10 and would go into the countryside to shoot at targets we'd hang from trees and also plink in the garden at empty beer cans, though when we moved into a new place we'd always clear it with neighbours and they were largely fine with it. My air rifle wasn't locked away or anything and I kept it in one of my cupboards in my room; I was just raised to not do anything dumb with it. I also always came back from Spain with various spring BB guns when we'd visit family out there during winter and spring because they were a lot cheaper over there. I then joined army cadets as a teenager and I shot a lot there with both the cadet single shot L85 5.56 rifles and the semi-auto .22 conversions and even the L86 in all its full auto glory while out on army bases for exercises or summer camp, as well as the single shot .22s we had for the range on the school grounds (it was a CCF unit that was part of my school because I was a private schooler). I also shot the AUG when I went to Australia with cadets (I genuinely love that rifle) and fired a bunch of other guns that may or may not have been off the record . I also did clay pigeon shooting through cadets a handful of times, which was good fun! I love shooting and I'm an advocate of responsible gun ownership for sport shooting, hunting, pest control and self-defense. Guns were all-but outlawed here and we're still murdering each other in the streets, just now we do it with handheld sharp objects instead.
  23. Action Army m700 hop unit is the best hop unit I've ever used. it's TDC, uses VSR rubbers and has four grub screws that secure the barrel in place and make sure there's no wobble or rotation.

Just took the 85 degree rubber out of my m700 and put in a 70 degree. Hopefully now it won't overhop .48s into the sky at any power over 1J (and even 1J I had to put the hop completely off for it to be fairly flat)

  24. Wrists or lower forearm is generally what I do when wearing my cobra hood and I can attest to what you're saying here. All through the summer I wear OD trousers, a black t-shirt and a cobra hood that has had no crafting done to it whatsoever (it's just an evolution of the scrim net over boonie trick I used to do to break up silhouette) and I still have people walk right by me. Airsofters are pretty blind in general I'm pretty adamant on the point that people should learn how to hide before investing in a ghillie. The best suit in the world won't make up for crappy fieldcraft and I relish in counter-sniping ghillies who don't know how to use it.
  25. This is for me as well. I have two 1911s, one TM, one is a really old Bell. The Bell feels by far the best; it's weighty and it has all accurate trademarks because I bought it back when everyone shoved trademarks on everything without a care in the world (my m203 is the same and I love it). However, getting the Bell 1911 to shoot in any season that isn't summer is hell (though part of that is because of the tiny 1911 mags and their tiny gas reservoirs). However, it's an issue I see with all the metal pistols at my local site during winter; the tell-tale *click-pssssssshhhhhhhhhhh* of venting gas because they can't cycle properly in the cold. Every blowback I own is a TM, apart from the AAP-01 and the aforementioned display piece of a Bell. The plastic slides are just so practical and they work all year round, even in winter on green gas. I just put 144a in them in the warmer weather to make sure they don't explode, but I ran a 1911 on green gas for years all year round with no issues. Just wouldn't want to push my luck!
