That might have been me, I linked to a chemical site to illustrate the components of De-Solv-It, and a spambot may have flagged up that we're interested in sniffing glue.

But he's super duper enthused about it. Which is why we know who he is. And - also to be fair - his videos are also generally well lit, shot and edited. Mumbly McBlur, not so much.

I don't want to rain on your parade too hard, but building a channel now needs something exceptional. Supply is saturated and there are some great airsoft creators out there who languished in the hundreds (or dozens) of subs and views-per-vid, before just fizzling out. Even "celebs" like Negative Airsoft get views in the couple of thousands, which means fewer than that watching all the way through. Is there any particular unique selling point that you're pitching? This is intended as a constructive question, because unless you're bringing top quality content from day one, you'll probably need some sort of gimmick to distinguish yourself.

Thanks, we're familiar with the quirks of EN 166. And that's not EN 166. My Brave-fu isn't finding a "liberated" copy of EN 1731 F, so I have no idea what test projectiles or energies it claims to stop. However, I can find forestry helmets with fine mesh that claims to meet EN 1731 F, and I wouldn't trust that for airsoft use. It's reassuring that you have tested yours, but 2J of 0.2g isn't the same as 2J of 0.46g. Don't get me wrong, I use mesh myself, and DIY at that, using 3.5mm hole / 4.5mm pitch 1mm thick stainless hex. I'd be interested to hear how that (literally) measures up to the Nuprols.

Ahoy and welcome. We have plenty of wheezy geezers here, and there's always room to squeeze another one in.

Site membership + UKARA takes 8 weeks. Either way, he's absolutely fine, and doesn't have to do anything other than enjoy his win.

Nah, that's not a thing. I mean, they may have a fancy-pants chrono that they're testing their XXXTECHS against, but that's all they're doing. And it's all you need to do as well. I take my chrono to sites and chickety-check myself before the marshals shuffle up 10 minutes late so if I ever do get bounced at that site at least I can compensate next time.

Yup. I'm the cheapest of skates, but even I've figured out that skimping on solder wire is the falsest of economies.

It's an interesting model, but I can't say that I'm super keen on the sort of tribalism and over-competitive shenanigans that you've (occasionally) described. I got out of historic re-enactment precisely because what should be a fun, casual hobby became a commitment to "support the club" at every event. While I might grumble a bit - no, no, don't be shocked! - I'm actually pretty happy with the way airsoft operates at the local sites here.

That is an interesting suggestion, although rentals are such a big part of some sites that it might be a tricky one to argue if put on the spot by the Clipboard Stasi. The Depot 1.0's Old Abandoned Furniture Factory was (notionally) owned and run by a local sports charity for local neds, thereby evadi- I mean, avoiding £180,000 a year in business rates.
-
Lets talk honestly: most site runners would rather sit in their shop being noshed off by a coterie of matey-mates, than actively walk around the safe zone welcoming rentals and newbies, or telling people things that they won't want to hear at the chrono station. That's an observation, not a value judgement.

Hmm, with an interesting distinction between "ordinary" and "gross" negligence. Well, interesting, and lucrative for lawyers arguing over the difference. We have a blanket voiding of any such terms, for any degree of negligence. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1977/50/section/2 "A person cannot by reference to any contract term or to a notice given to persons generally or to particular persons exclude or restrict his liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence." https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2015/15/section/65 "A trader cannot by a term of a consumer contract or by a consumer notice exclude or restrict liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence." (Losses other than injury or death can be reasonably waived)

Revisiting old ground for us. I have a lot of sympathy for site runners, as it tends to be a weekend passion project for them, not a pay-the-rent business. On the other hand, I agree with @Tommikkathat many of them are half-arsing it and hoping for the best. I'm not sure what the legal situation is in the Great State of Texas, but in the UK we can't waive our statutory rights to sue for negligence that results in death or injury. And yet most sites require us to sign these silly waivers that profess to do just that. It's a little concerning that they seem to believe they have a get-out clause, given that on most sites, on most days, you can see shenanigans unfold that they should (by their own published rules) be dealing with. Generally minor stuff, but people - children, even - do sometimes lose an eye.

[Skylar has entered the chat] Are you having any issues?

Not sure if serious, but damn, that's funny either way. I honestly can't recall the last time I saw decent marshalling. Absent, distracted, disinterested, timid, or professionally angry, sure, plenty of that. I really must get along to the new Depot 2.0, as the old site had the only really solid marshalling that I've ever seen, anywhere that I've played.

Well, they seem cheap, compared to a Tokyo Marui. But they're not even that cheap compared to (e.g.) Army Armaments. I mean, I like to gamble on cheap tat just to see how bad it is, but Vorsk has never tempted me. I have no idea if Nuprol were trying to build a "premium" brand with that vendor trash, but as it turns out, they've protected the... er... "reputation" of their main label by having Vorsk as a side-brand.

I would indeed consider that to be a small pile of unrelated and likely incompatible and possibly incomplete spare parts, and value it accordingly. That's dreaming at malarial fever levels.

There is no finer reason. My concern - and won't somebody think of the children! - is that stuff that's built by sensible sorts then gets sold on to fund the next project. And even if you sell to a carefully vetted vet, you can't control where it goes two or three owners down the line. I'd rather that sort of toy just didn't exist at all, lest it end up in the hands of Mr No-Full-Auto-In-Buildings-Bro.

And one of my locals has sodded off "DMRs" (i.e. anything over 1.2J and not bolt action). You also have to play once with something <1.2J before being OK to use a bolt action over 1.2J - and even then, it's an "ask first". 30 RPS limit, 0.46g limit for snipers, 0.34g for everything else, 25m minimum range for auto (rather than the more typical 10 or so). https://www.playersofwar.co.uk/site-rules I am fully on board with setting limits like this, and the site is booked solid every game day so it's not harming them.

I can't see how that justifies the price. There are no features there that I'd want, other than the quick change spring, and you get that on anything down to an Edge. It's even got an old style dial hop (that it's in a metal hop chamber is neither here nor there). Problem is, the Specna stuff that I would recommend, with the Gate ASTER mosfets, is either out of stock, higher priced, or in a very different style. Are you married to full metal body, and that front sight post? If not, the Double Eagle M9XX range continues to offer decent value and features. https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/airsoft-assault-rifles-all?*brand=61&*inst=y

No, you hang up first. [giggles]

eBay review = US = M120 spring = no overspin. How am I doing? If you're running the M90 that goes in the UK market ones, you'll want to up-spring, use 7.4V, or fit an active-brake mosfet.
