  1. Six. No, sev- eight. Tell a lie, nine. Hang on, I'll need to take my socks off. That's not the whole truth though. It's also hypocritical, see above. If there's one thing I'm constant about, it's inconsistency.
  2. But do BBs make a different sound if they came out of an M60 shaped blowgun, or or a Firehawk shaped one? If this sounds like parade-raining, my point in context is that support shaped blowguns are a small subset of a small hobby, so that seller might find himself with a wall ornament for quite some time.
  3. 1) Because "support gun" is largely a fictional narrative in airsoft? You're either firing for effect and getting hits, or you're just blasting bush and your target likely doesn't even realise that you're shooting at them, let alone that in your head, they're supposed to be both impressed and suppressed. To be clear I'm not criticising people who enjoy whacking the bushes, we're all playing a daft game of pretend for fun. But if your site doesn't run different rules for different toys, then the reality is a "support" gun is just a cumbersome carbine. 2) Don't we all like spending money on our preciouses and fiddling with them for that ultimate / imaginary extra 5m of accurate range? Heck, I'm currently running a Maple Leaf rubber and nub in my MP5K that over-hops the 0.2g that I feed it for CQB.
  4. I kind of feel for the guy, he's likely put a lot of time and money into making the perfect custom toy gnu for him. However, he may be missing the point that one man's dream custom is another's nightmare Frankengun. To my eyes, that's just another heavy lump of a thing that will perform the function of the "support gunner" imaginary role every bit as well as any plastic AEG with a box mag and a heavy trigger finger. Motor, barrel, hop unit and rubber are upgrades. A pistol grip and a 3D printed buffer tube are not. I'm particularly amused by buying a TruSight rubber ("capable of operating in -50C to +230C" 🙄 ) that comes with its own magical concave nub, then also buying a Maple Leaf nub. The value is entirely dependent on finding someone who wants exactly that toy, with exactly those parts on it. I wish the seller the best of luck with that.
  5. If "collection much preferred" then it would help if you gave a location, chap.
  6. Nuprol should bow to public opinion (and spelling) and rename themselves as Nurpol.

    Change my mind.

  7. I don't think you ever stop being a biker, you're just temporarily between bikes.
  8. Off topic, but I'm playing my Friday night joker. Many years ago, when I was too young and dumb to know what couldn't be done, I cobbled together a T&J Locust Lotus 7 replica kit car. it consisted of a poorly welded ladderframe angle-iron chassis, an aluminium skinned plywood (yes, wood) body tub, and various random Mk II Escort, Cortina and Triumph Sprint and Dolomite parts. I shudder to recall the bodges that I did to get it running, but my God you knew you were driving it. Something like this, although mine never looked that complete. I ended up literally giving it away between breakdowns because my conscience couldn't stomach taking money from someone in return for that absolute death trap (the seatbelts were bolted into the wooden body tub...). I fully expected it to be in a ditch / in pieces / on fire, or some combination of the three within months. Tonight, out of sheer random curiosity, I just bashed the registration into https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk and love a duck... An actual thing that I made with my own two hands a quarter of a century ago is still on the road, MOT'd, taxed and insured, and according to the MOT record is racking up a couple of hundred miles a year, every year. Just... wow. I am in equal[*] parts horrified and delighted. [*] 90% delighted.
  9. Tru dat. H2O https://www.facebook.com/Hammer2operations/ in Kilmarnock were actually lucky in that they cancelled their milsim event the weekend before last, as it absolutely tipped it down both days anyway. Speaking of sites that don't provide basic info, I think Ryan said that the Wargames Centre is run on on an "ask if you wish to receive" basis, which hacks me off as it's a great way to ensure that your membership dwindles away.
  10. Wargames Centre in Stevenston near Irvine? https://www.facebook.com/thewargamescentre/ https://sites.google.com/view/thewargamescentre/ Oh. Their page / site looks nearly dead. Shame, Ryan Silver Fox said it was a decent enough site. Might be worth giving them a prod.
  11. Sonuva gorram beach.  My MP5K with a 249mm ZCI barrel - but this time with the PTFE tape removed and some actual hop applied - chronoed at 348, 346... 352.

Back in the bag it went and out came the backup G36C.

Only after getting home and jumping on AK2M4 did I have a "... wait a second..." moment and remembered that I'd already bought a 229mm ZCI, which is in the backup-backup M4 which was in the bag keeping the G36 company.  Could have had that swapped in in a few minutes.

    Sort yourself out, Rog.

heh at least you have backups when it blows up in your face.

Does it being longer no mess with  it worknig with a tracer?

Tracer's on the pistol, this is just a suppressor.  It's got spring-and-foam internals, which were influencing the BB flight (as in, it was all over the place). Being an honest sort, I took the suppressor off and went and got it re-chroned, and it came out just barely over.  But over is over.  I mean, for that particular chrono, which is a rant for another thread.

So how will a shorter barrel fix your issues or you going to have to do away with the suppressor and just chase the 345~ fps

  12. It's a decent idea and I'm not opposed in principle. In practice though, how many folk are there in the UK who would describe themselves as professional airsoft techs? A few dozen? And how many of those have an engineering qualification or time served? Then, how many customers would value a bit of paper over a low price, or a good recommendation? I mean, how many people even check (or know to check) that their chosen sparky is NICEIC registered, or equivalent? I guess there's only one way to find out. What's @Seth_Erebor up to at the moment?
  13. What consequences would you like to see if they don't? Do I get the jail for adjusting Workmate Eddy's hop unit?
  14. The total helmet selling them that comes with them.
  15. Oh, are you actually a professional airsoft technician? Honestly, I've not being paying attention.
  16. Sole trader, or limited company? How much professional indemnity do you have? That annual tax and NI bill is a real sod isn't it?
  17. From the regular horror stories we see here, I'm not sure there are any reliable techs, let alone ones capable of teaching or certifying others.
  18. Dem feels when just for once you're totally prepped and ready for a weekender event by Tuesday... then they postpone it for 6 weeks. 😭

Mmm, I do sympathise with the site owner, he's put loads of work in and arranged for extra facilities for the weekend, and a bunch of folk (I infer both players and marshals) have booked up front then told him with under a week to go that they won't be showing up, citing sickness (must be pretty bad if you know that far ahead that you won't make it) but also "holidays and weddings".  How could that have come as a surprise?

Bad news for everyone, although the way it's being handled is pretty amateurish.  No automatic refunds, he's assuming that we'll either want to roll the booking forward or will attend a regular skirmish day on Saturday and get credited then.  Yeah... but no.  That's the thing about running a big weekend mislim, the extra numbers come from people who wouldn't normally have made the trip.

It's only £10, but having to ask for it back in the first place should be unnecessary, and having done so, if it doesn't show up in the next day or so, then I'll just be opening a PayPal dispute and that's the last that site will ever see of me.  And I get the money back either way.

Why is it so hard for people to just do the right thing, for the right reasons, and for their own benefit?

      ak2m4

Must have been quite a number of players who cancelled last minute in order for him to cancel the whole thing.  Unless he didn't get that many people in the first place and wasn't worth the time.  Either way just refund everyone as soon as you cancel the event, how hard is that.

I'm dubious about the real story too.  I feel for the guy, he's really very decent and has been struggling to get numbers and income up after a rather rash decision to open a brand new site last Autumn just as the weather turned.

But not enough to simply donate my hard-earned.

  20. At 1.34J, it's too hot for UK law on a fully auto gun.
  21. The hurty words have sent me running for my safe space.
  22. But if I adjust anything other than the hop, you will hunt me down and kill me?
  23. Oooooh, lording it over us with your fancy £70 pistols, are you? Does your butler shoot that for you?
  24. Mad, staring eyes? Why, no, you don't have mad, staring eyes. Why would you ask?
