  1. Mmm, good observation. Possibly he's assuming that goods coming in from the EU aren't even checked by Border Farce, so he doesn't bother requiring a defence. After all, he's not subject to UK laws, it's purely an economic question of whether the toy gets delivered, returned, or destroyed. It does seem to mostly be US and Far East air mail shipments that people report being stopped, rather than stuff being trucked in from the Continent.
  2. "have been upgrading it throughout so it has never been skirmished" A gnu that's sold as fully pre-awesomely upgraded out of the box. I pity the fool, really.
  3. I've given up waiting for the Depot to re-open (concern intensifies), and booked in for Biohazard in Stevenston next Sunday.

Oops, just a week to lose the lockdown lard.  I guess I'll cycle to buy the beer, butter and beef today.

  4. "It's literally got 'soft' in the name, why is Little Johnny bleeding?" Dollah though. The Depot run https://www.icombat.com/ laser-pew in a subsection that's kept better swept up. Once you're paying the overheads, you might as well be using the place as not.
  5. True, everyone who tries it is a potential keeper. And there are plenty of "didn't feel it, mate" God Moders among the 3-deep-mag-stack cammers. One consideration though is that casual and one-off players are more likely to leave a bad review if they're not treated with kid gloves, so once you start down that path, it might be hard to get serious about dealing with overkill-and-teflon types.
  6. I think it's been bent down and to the right, but it's hard to see from that close up. I notice the cheeky fecker is using two full length pictures from before he mullered it. Very catfishy.
  7. That's a good shout for a walk-in site. That said, I've tried the Attack Sense range at the Depot, and shooting from booths is... well, meh, really, I only did it on a free intro day, mostly just to use the chrono and get some hops dialled in so as not to waste time on the next game day. For a pay session, I'd want quite a bit of variety, or up the ante to walkabout practical-shooting, both of which require more staff and supervision, so more costs. That's a valid concern, I wouldn't want anyone on site who doesn't actively want to be there to play airsoft as a (looks around) sport. I really hope they can find a way to make it work, as I'd love to see CQB sites being a bit less post-apocalypse and a bit more valet parking.
  8. They'll need all the business through the door they can get in order to cover their costs. I mention that because I recently noticed that the rates bill alone for the close-to-derelict Depot building in Glasgow is £184,332 a year. It's a shared site with electric dirt bikes and iCombat laser pew-pews as well, but even so, that's eye watering. Racking up £3,621 a week with no income for 6 months and not a squeak out of them since July, I'm getting rather fearful that they may have just ghosted. Operating out of retail premises, I'd expect Zed will have to run it like a regular daily business rather than just weekend big-bang sessions. It'll be really interesting to see if they can pull it off.
  9. Yup, it's a reasonable size if they get enough cover in. A single staircase / escalator would be a bit of a challenge. I'd put a riot shield on it which can be used to push up or down but then has to be left at the top or bottom once you've got there. Being in an occupied shopping centre is also going to be... interesting. The site staff and local police would have to be well briefed, and I'd expect some Special Walt will open-carry in or out sooner or later. I hope they make a good go of it, it's a brave move to go "legit" like that.
  10. Good question, 550m2 difference is quite big. Let's find out. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/how-non-domestic-property-including-plant-and-machinery-is-valued#measuring-methods The net internal area (NIA) method of measurement is generally applied to: offices shops other retail premises, such as banks, hairdressers, restaurants Net internal area The net internal area (NIA) is the total usable area of each floor within a building, measured to the inside face of the boundary walls (ignoring skirting boards). 11. 3,217.27 m2 rateable area, £116,000 rateable value, £58,464 in rates (after 0.05% "reduction"), or £1,124 a week before they can pay another penny of costs let alone see a profit. https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/business-rates-find/valuations/18932527000
  12. Patina, m8, that'll buff out. Loving the gap between the upper and lower - has he been clubbing people with it? And why does he think a broken toy gnu is worth so mu... ohhh, "Kingdom of airsoft" Paid loads = worth loads. Is there actually a working gun to be had in there?
  13. £130 delivered from bbguns4less: https://bbguns4less.co.uk/products/cyma-cm-703-l96-pro-sniper-rifle-in-blue.html £120 in black: https://bbguns4less.co.uk/products/cyma-cm-703-l96-pro-sniper-rifle-in-black.html Only they don't even cost that. £120.90 and £111.60 after the 7% "secret" discount for leaving them in your basket for 24 hours. Ohhh... they quote 500fps. Must be true then. 🙄
  14. "New". And another dried-up-mags seller. How can you spend so much on a gas gun and yet know so little about them that you think having never pressurised the mags is a positive thing to list?
  15. Ah, but the magazine has never been sullied with gas, so the seals will be good and hard and compact now, not all soft and expanded like used seals.
  16. I'd wager a promise to the missus to clear out some of his toys is responsible for him listing it. Perhaps she found the original receipts... 😬
  17. The latest diktat for England is here: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/684/regulation/5 tl;dr version - the 30 person limit does not apply outdoors if the gathering has been organised by a business, they have done a risk assessment and the gathering organiser has taken all reasonable measures to limit the risk of transmission of the coronavirus, taking into account the risk assessment. Hugely open to interpretation, but if you wave a pile of paper at Dibble and say "Risk assessed, distancing in place", I can't see him touching it. Indoors appears to have a hard 30 person limit, but give it 5 minutes and see if that changes. As regarding bike rides, rattle a tin for chaaaridy, say "Don't hug each other at the destination" and you should be OK too. I really don't see this being a problem for airsoft, particularly outdoors. The police aren't actively seeking out private gatherings, they're being called to them.
  18. I have to give them credit for both their honesty and audacity. Not credit in the sense of money though. I would never, ever give them money, the cheeky feckers.
  19. Grab a bargain! Only full retail price, but wait, the difference is that you'll have to come and collect it in person. "I don't have time to go out any game for now, and I might buy an aeg insted of this". AEGs give you more time to play airsoft, it seems.
  20. Mine didn't shatter, but the lens ripped right off. You could throw some washers on there, but I agree that DIYing it with polycarb is the way to go, since then you know what you've got. 2mm is more than sufficient for airsoft use. A jigsaw will cut it easily.
  21. Sorry to have to say this (yet again) but I would bin that bloody thing before it explodes or burns your house down. We've had report after report after report about them failing. When it says "NEVER LEAVE CHARGER UNATTENDED WHILE IN USE" it really means it. A 2A charger should charge a 1.6Ah battery in under an hour. If it's been shoving current in for 9 hours it's been cooking it. However, I'd hazard a guess that the battery is fully charged, but that the charger can't recognise that. Nimh is a bit of a sod to charge. The charger doesn't know what voltage the battery is meant to be, all it can do is to shove current in until it detects the battery resistance rising sharply when it's full. If it fails to spot that rise happening, it's liable to just keep pumping energy in indefinitely. If you stick with it, only use it for under an hour, and disconnect it if the battery start to heat up. Or take the plunge and get yourself onto better technology. Lipo cells are really cheap now (see HobbyKing) and can deliver higher current in a smaller package. You'll not see much difference between a 7.4V lipo and a 9.6V nimh. On chargers, we're liking the SkyRC S65 or the IDST Q6 nano at the moment.
