i'd assume the selector plate teeth aren't lined up quite right, very common issue thanks to the rube-golberg setup the v3 box has for a fire selector.

one thing i find helps is to insert the gearbox with the reciever lying flat on the left side, let gravity hold the components in place whilst your sliding it into position.

Worth noting that whilst sure it aint pretty or "proper", and not something you'd expect a decent tech to do, ptfe tape does work for the cylinder head when done neatly.

One of those bodges that does at least have some basis in reality for those who only care about the result and don't worry about the next guy who has to open the box.

Generally with the cyma's air seal is what i'd gravitate towards as an area to be addressed. A nozzle with a sealing o ring is a good shout for any box that doesn't already have it.

    Thanks for the tips!
With the nozzle extended I can't get any compression in the cylinder.
I ordered a new nozzle of the same length and a new cylinder head just to be safe.
I noticed some wear on the nozzle of the cylinder head and a difference in external diameter from 5.2mm nearer the tip but not at the very end and 5.3mm in the middle.
I'll report back once the new parts are installed.

If ALL the compression parts inside the gearbox seal (so: piston head to cylinder, cylinder to cylinder head, cylinder head to nozzle in its fully extended position) then the issue is most likely around the hop up area.
Check if your nozzle to hop rubber seal is good, install the gearbox with the nozzle at its resting position (fully extended) inside the gun, then shine a light down the muzzle and check if there is any light coming through the hop unit's feed tube.

If there is, then your hop rubber is worn/torn or the nozzle is too short. Replace accordingly. If your nozzle doesn't have an o-ring, replace it regardless, make sure to measure its length with a caliper and buy accordingly.

As a counter to all the bullshit add’s we get that end up on here and to try and give us a ‘wee’ bit of hope for our fellow Soft’ers I’d just like to highlight this almost textbook ‘boneyard’ add if ever I’ve seen one ! and say well done to the seller👍

My CYMA CM.123 (essentially the same internals) is fine in the cold.  A bit weak with the stock battery, much better even with a tiny 300mAh 35/70C (i.e. 10.5A - 21A) 7.4V lipo and no mosfet.  Sounds like your battery is quite tired.  It might benefit from a gearbox lube, although they're pretty fiddly to take apart, or more specifically, put back together.  Some silicon lube down the "nozzle" so that it gets to the piston rings might help.

    The Cyma CM045
I love mine to bits. It's realy well made.
Here it is with mismatched wooden grips. Thanks for the opportunity to show her 🙂

Snappy trigger response in semi making it decent for CQB with only a 7.4v lipo.

I've just added a mosfet to mine and on an 11.1v lipo and no other mods it's a monster on auto as well as semi.

So my final update in the Gunfire versus Taiwangun race to the UK started just before Christmas, as somewhat surprisingly UPS finally got around the releasing my Gunfire parcel from it's special shelf in their Stanford Le Hope warehouse and my parcel arrived today, although to be fair the Border Force tape did show it had been subject to an examination.

    Conclusions?

Well Gunfire is the winner as TG still aren't shipping to the UK despite their email to me about test purchases.  Surprising as I would have thought the UK market to be worth chasing, although I get the distinct impression TG got their fingers burnt by UPS.  Just to keep TG on their toes I do like to fill my TG basket up with goodies whilst browsing their website, if only to let them know what I might spend if only they sorted out their delivery service.

Gunfire performance.  I can't fault it up to the point they hand over to UPS and then you enter somewhat of a lottery.  Total transit time was 43 days, of which 40 was the parcel languishing in a warehouse in Essex, waiting for UPS to decide if they were going to collect import duty, after which it entered a waiting area for a Customs examination.  They don't seem to have any SLA with Border Force which is bizarre given most couriered mail with other companies is cleared in hours by Border Force (DHL being my best experience).  Gunfire also made a lot of effort with plastering my UKARA number over the parcel, so no chance of a misunderstanding in this regard.  If you want to chase the parcel's status UPS Customer Services aren't much use, but Brokerage seem to be better organised and were quite helpful.  Fees and taxation were what was expected, so despite the wait I have saved money.

If you are prepared to wait, and you really do need to be prepared to play the long game here, Gunfire will deliver... eventually.

Okay, we have an update, which won't surprise regular followers of this thread.

So in the tortoise versus tortoise race between Gunfire and Taiwangun to import a RIF into the UK, team Taiwangun seem to have fallen at the first hurdle, and to quote an email they sent me last night, "...for the moment we are still not able to sent the package. We are working with DHL but is not so simple" [sic].  So in short we haven't even got to a place where getting TG to import into the UK is a realistic prospect.

Team Gunfire, however, did manage to send their parcel that I ordered on the 19th December on the 21st December, after which we enter the wonderful world of UPS again.  To be fair to UPS things have improved slightly, insofar as they managed to get the parcel to the UK on the 23rd December, but unfortunately there was no Christmas miracle.  On the 28th December I received an email telling me that UPS were delivering the parcel (with apparently no RIF declaration required), but the cynic in me said that this was unlikely to happen, and it didn't.  An import scan took place on the 4th January, and on the 5th January UPS rang me to tell me that unless I filled in a RIF form by 1400 that day they'd be sending the package back to Poland.  I pointed out that this was the first time they'd spoken to me and I'd received no emails or phone calls to ask me to fill in a form.  The agent then emailed me a form to fill in, which amused me somewhat as it contained a packing list that included cake, cheese, cookies, soup, fudge, a handwarmer and some waffles, rather than a RIF and some kit.  Anyway I sent UPS an old form I had which I amended with the new order, they billed me the import charges which worked out at about £60 for a £300 order (20%-ish?), plus a £10 processing fee.

The parcel is currently sat awaiting Customs clearance, but is getting scanned every other day.  Knowing UPS they'll update the tracking after the parcel is on my doorstep, so it's anyone's guess when it'll be released and delivered; I'll reserve judgement on how well they've done after the parcel turns up.

Lessons learned?  TG is still a no-go.  Clearly using DHL is not working out as they thought.  Gunfire is a possibility so long as you don't need anything too quickly and you meet their minimum order threshold.  UPS are a lottery as usual, but at least their UK brokerage team called me (eventually), and they themselves said they think things are better now, compared to 12-months ago.  I'll update again when the Gunfire parcel arrives, so you can judge the delivery times yourself and whether it's worth the inevitable hassle.

I installed the coiled 2 core 0.75mm cable and although I can now hear the motor labouring to turn it doesn't quite manage to compress the spring.
1mm core might be the minimum.

It's all I have to hand at the moment. It's what I use for fpv goggles power if I'm using more than the 2s the goggles can take as standard or I'm using a bigger battery I don't want strapped to the side if my head.

The one that didn't work was definitely not 0.75. It looked like it didn't have more wire strands than a signal cable on a mosfet and a fabric string intertwined.

I ordered a £10 coiled cable with 2 cores of 0.75mm diameter each. Will provide an update on how it works once I install it.

I've wired a mosfet in the grip of my JG V61 and wanted to run it with a lipo stored in a pouch by connecting it through a coiled cable.
I bought a coiled shaver charging cable, wired it with deans and connected it to the 7.4V lipo battery and mosfet.
The gun fires fine when the battery is connected directly to the mosfet but it doesn't fire when connected through the coiled cable. I checked the positive and negatives are soldered the right way.
I can feel the coiled cable getting very hot and suspect the few wispy strands of wires are too thin to carry the 20-30 Amp rating of the battery.

Trouble is that going by this I would need a 2.5mm core cable to carry 20-30 amps https://www.energy-solutions.co.uk/technical-information and I can't seem to find reasonably priced coiled cables that thick.

I think the default cabling in most AEGs is 18AWG which is 0.75mm square and 16AWG is 1.5mm.

What coiled cables is everyone else using that work?

other than fitting a mosfet with your current set up no idea. all i can suggest is look through this manual https://www.greekairsoft.gr/manuals/manual.asp?Manufacturer=WELL&Filename=WELL+Scorpion+R2+Manual.pdf and see what parts you still have.
