Ace Combat - Paddock Wood, Kent
Dentonboy replied to Dentonboy's topic in Skirmish Sites, Stories & Reviews
The main open field to the left of the track as you walk into the playable area. So north of the containers until the wood line. The car park is now in a field opposite where the old car park was. It is bigger though. -
Ace Combat - Paddock Wood, Kent

They were offering a kit shuttle service but it wasn't clear how it worked tbh. Whereabouts are you Sir? -
Last weekend was my first opportunity to skirmish this year. Truth be told, I had lost an awful amount of desire to skirmish after bills kept rising, AEGs kept breaking and magazines kept leaking! I scrambled together some kit that I knew was working: TM M4A1 MWS, TM M9A1 and TM L96 (a recent purchase and my first spring sniper rifle) as well as my tried and trusted Ranger Green kit. Ace Combat has changed since I last played there, which was probably 2019. Ah, those pre- pandemic days... The car park, safe zone and check-in areas have all changed location and it is now a long slog to haul kit to the safezone (located between field 1 and field 2). This slog was made even more tedious when my bag's zip failed and sent a lot of the contents into the mud. I was very close, dear reader, to turning around and going home! I made it to the much improved safe zone and was glad to see the same Ace faces as were there years ago. The covered safezone now has ample room for everyone and there was a 3rd party shop selling the usual onsite-found range of entry to mid tier airsoft products at what looked like reasonable prices. My main issue with Ace has always been the standing around and waiting between the action and is was still a factor that hasn't been improved upon, sadly. Another aspect that affected the day was the loss of using the open part of field 1. This, plus the relocated safezone has cut by about 1/3 the available space to play in, on an already compact site when compared to Battle Lakes and Dog Tag. The games were suitably Halloween themed and ran well. I don't think I heard a single accusation of 'Teflon armour' during the whole day and the atmosphere was fun and pretty chilled. My MWS combined with a RS ACOG was almost like a cheat code. I ran .32s and probably scored the most 'kills' that day with it that I've ever done. The M9A1 also scored some hits and my lighter kit was as comfy as it has ever been. Rocking out an old school Adventure Tech Goretex jacket in night camo/DCU is something I've not done in airsoft for about 15 years! I didn't get to debut the L96 though, which was a shame. The new CQB area in the woods by field 1 is a nice addition and overall it was a good day that left me and my two buddies wanting more out of airsoft for the first time in a long time. It probably won't be at Ace again - for a while at least - as the usable site now is just so small compared to what it was. This is a real shame and for me represents a loss to the local airsoft scene. I hope that field 1 can be re-incorporated into usable space, but it didn't look promising. Thank you Ace for rekindling a dormant flame.

I think M249s with an Eotech a la Seal Team look cool. Otherwise, Elcan is the one.

Ebay is great for used Eotech's - provided you know how to spot a fake - and you are clever with your search terms. Over the years I've grabbed an Eotech sight, Eotech magnifier and Trijicon ACOG for about £550 in total. There seems to be a RS Aimpoint Carbine Optic on there for a decent price atm.

A guy on ebay is selling a VGC Z Shot Crye AVS in RG, size Large. He'll accept £70 + p&p, which to me is an absolute steal.

I grabbed a WE G19 a few years back for £100 and it has been a very good purchase. Any TM pistol you can find for £100 would be a sound buy too. Fire Support had a few around that price point not that long ago.

Bought a few things from the boneyard section over the last few months. Always quickly despatched and as described. Paul has always given me excellent customer service. The boneyard section genuinely excites me as I click to see what's been added.

Finally bought myself a TM Desert Eagle HK GBB. Was on Action Hobbies, in unused condition with a spare magazine for £80 so thought it rude not to. -
Some cheap H&K gas smgs up on the same site now as well. Plus some gas pistols.
-
Bargain gas nbb 8mm M1 Carbine on Action Hobbies right now. £150.00.

Cheers Mighty. Hope you're keeping well.

Am considering selling up - haven't skirmished for over a year - and am hoping to get some prices for a few items I have to see if it is worth my while to sell or to keep. Haven't skirmished since buying on here a year ago or so. 1 spare magazine. Both seem gas tight. Shoots well. Original box and still has the original bits and pieces except for the bb packet. Not an advert. Thanks.

This was purchased via a GunMart ad. Unskirmished. Does fire. Comes with 2 x HiCaps plus original low Cap. Tatty box but still has the original bits and pieces except for the bb packet. Not an advert. Thanks.

Bought my first airsoft pistols around 1993 - a TM NBB Desert Eagle from Battle Orders (which was a short drive away and their catalogue may stir some memories!) and some TM springer pistols and a springer TM MP5 A3 from Sussex Model Centre in Worthing. Used to buy a lot of springers from Beltring's War and Peace Show after that, almost always TM. Started having garden skirmishes afterwards - we pinched eyepro from the science lab at school. This would have been circa 1995. AEGs were around but way out of my price range but I'd say that my aspirations to buy one started around then. Finally did and got into skirmishing in Dec 05/Jan 06. The CA M249 was probably the peak AEG at the time - although Inokatsu's M60 was for me the most elite. My old man grabbed the CA M249 and it was phenomenal. STAR released a plastic model which started to appear at our site and I don't think I ever saw one work well. Pre-UKARA regulations coming in, myself and my family went on a huge shopping spread at the best Asian airsoft shop for my money - Guns N Guys. Happy Times.

Paintball or paint rounds? -
Gas Pistols... where to start.
Dentonboy replied to Ebeneezer Goode's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Go for TM. Go for something that has decent holsters that it'll fit into on the market. -

Yeah, I clicked on the article, but I am still not buying that they are. Surely they aren't training with paintball markers? -
Saw this online and had to post. These aren't Ukrainian trainees, right? Look like common or garden paintballers to me! Reuters eh?!
