  1. My kit is in serious state of disrepair after being out of action for so long, so I doubt I'll be ready by Jan. But here's hoping. Game dates should be on their website: http://ucap.co.uk Get a few games in before me and maybe you can show me the ropes. I'll be the tired, unfit one who's wheezing in the corner ;-)
  2. Hi Micky. As mentioned, UCAP Sandpit it only a few mins away. Only problem is that if you go there; you'll never want to play anywhere else 😃 Best bet is to head down and rent for a couple of games. This will give you an idea of how and where you want to play. Talk to the guys (and girls) there and get to know the gear and the people. Most of us are a friendly bunch who are more than happy to show off our gear - so you'll probably be able to handle a few guns in the SafeZone and get a feel for what you like. Looks first, but comfort and useability is a close second (for me anyway). 3 games and you'll be able to get UKARA Registered to buy yourself something suave (assuming your over 18...?) Don't worry about buying all THE BEST KIT EVER straight away. Start of small, cheap combats and cheap (but good) eyepro/full face - and let your gear evolve with you. If you try to buy a whole load out straight away you'll likely find you don't want/need/use a lot of what you bought. Lastly, welcome 😃 I'm from Greenhithe - looking to get back into the sport in 2016. So, maybe I'll see you at the Sandpit. :-)
  3. I've got an *original* Dynatec (about 8yrs old now) and I've never had an issue with it. Timer is spot on every time, even after some serious abuse. Never used the Impact BFG's myself. Always preferred the timed ones.
  4. I had the same issue when I first got into it. For my parents, the issue wasn't necessarily the 'violence' of it; but more along the "we don't want guns in the house". I came to an agreement with them that it would only be the one RIF (...that bit didn't last long though) and it would always be stored away safely. I think a lot of their fear was that I'd get a taste for the action and join the army. But I explained to them that the one thing that Airsoft taught me is that I'd be USELESS in the Army! 😃 If the problem is the action/violence side of it; why why not get your parents to head to your local site? Speaking to the site owners and regulars might ease them a little. They'll realise that we are just profes.......big kids....who are playing a game.
  5. Thanks Pro 😃 No telling what state the mags will be in though ;-)
  6. I have (half) a can of 134a that's been stored away for approx 5yrs, after I stopped playing. Looking to get back into it and need to test-and-repair all the old kit. Is the old gas still safe to use? Or is it a no-go due to the age? Cheers :-)
  7. http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/201484724999 Blackhawk do some nice gear, but to buy genuine BH new is pretty expensive ($100+ for a serpa).
  8. I've always been a DPM player. Nice and cheap to buy, fairly tough and quick drying. If it's the actual *camo* side i needed - it was designed to be used in British woodland. Even in CQB I wear DPM as I don't really mind it getting ruined. However, I am thinking of mixing it up and going Russian. I love the Russian Camo gear 😃
  9. If your feeling fancy, try to track down a couple of these: http://www.airsoftworld.net/tokyo-marui-hi-capa-50rd-magazine.html :-)
  10. IMO the Hi-Capa is the one then. I had a 5.1 (the 4.3's slightly bigger brother) and it was flawless. Most of my 'softing buddies have stuck to some variant of the Hi-Capa. Tonnes of upgrade and mod options for when you realise that the Stock model isn't quiet enough and you need (not want, need) I upgrade it to make it more awesome. Treat it well and it'll last longer than you will!
  11. TM Mk.23 Socom ftw!Not very good as a sidearm due to the sheer size of it; but using it as a primary (with a lot of mags) is one of the most things I've EVER done in 'softing. :-)
  12. Ok, ok, I stand corrected. Maybe WE 1911's aren't great. But 1911's themselves (with a good brand behind them) are reasonable. With pistols I've always stuck to the "original" companies; Tokyo Marui, Western Arms (although WA are super high prices)
  13. 1911's tend to be popular, nice and reliable. From what I've seen, there are a lot of upgrade & mod options for them. Personally, I'd go P226. Has a TM one for years and I loved it. Comfortable to use and very reliable. Good options to upgrade if you want, but it's not a necessity. As for Brands, never really used anything WE, so not sure how they are cost/use wise.
  14. I've got a pair of 5.11 Tactical Boots, that are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. After 3yrs, the zip on the side went, so I superglued it shut and have worn them for another 3yrs. Keep them clean and (slightly) polished to keep the leather in tact; they'll last forever. Seen me through all weather (sun, rain and snow) in CQB and woodland. I'd never play in anything other than a decent set of boots, looking after your feet is just as important as your eyes. After a stunning "John MacLaine" moment of sliding down a bank and over a sticky-outy-rock, followed by a trip to A&E with a VERY swollen and painful ankle - the Doctors assured me that, for the most part, the only reason I wasn't on crutches is because my boots took the brunt of the hit.
  15. Hi guys I've been looking into selling my old Blank Firing Grenade (potentially have a buyer...so get in line 😃) The BFG Unit isn't too much of an issue; but, I'm going mad about the legal and logistics side of sending the Ammo for it. I have both 9mm and 12guage blank shells. Are these legally able to be shipped around the UK? In guessing there is something allowed as Retailers are sending them, but all the Couriers I'm looking at say these are Prohibited Items. I don't want to send it to someone and have the package siezed - or worse, have some guys in suits knocking on either doors. Any advice/help is appreciated. Twice19
  16. Thanks for the advice, Rocky. Appreciate it. Feel like a total noob being out the sport for so long, I've no idea about anything anymore!!
  17. Hi everyone, Not actually a new player, but I've been off the scene for around 5yrs. I was looking to sell my kit, but getting it out the loft made me realise I want to get back into it instead! Sadly, all of my old hangouts (C.A.G.E Fort Amherst; Urban Assault; Epson Bunkers) have closed down 😟 So the kit is going to be dusted off and back into the game in the new year :-)
  18. Nearing the end of an Assault/Defend game (I was on the defence), all the chatter from the marshals was about "This will be over soon. If Blue Team make one good push, they'll make it through". So I decided to heroically defend the objective. Through the last doorway, I reloaded; lined up my sidearms and grenades so they were in easy reach... Then I waited ... And waited ... After 15mins I was bored and hungry so went back out to find out what was going on - and walked into the briefing for the next game. Clearly everyone knew how prepared I was and called the game rather than face my defence!
  19. LiPos were pretty new on the scene when I dropped out. I thought they hugely ramped up RoF and tended to churn up stock gearboxes (higher voltage I think) so a lot of upgrades are/were required. Is that wrong?? I'm not the most technically-minded person, when it comes to internals, batteries etc. So it wouldn't surprise me if I'm totally wrong! Lol
  20. Thanks for the advice guys. It's bad, but it's been so long I can't remember what make the AEGs are. I think they are original Cheapsoft 😃 I think I'll have to poke around the internals and see what's what. I assume with batteries, it's best to just pay out for new ones? Rather than try to save the oldies? They saw a lot of use back in the days!
  21. Hi guys I've been out of the sport for around 5yrs. Getting my kit out of the loft to sell it on has made me realise that the better option is to just get back into it! So, after 5yrs of no use, I'm guessing the Guns will need some tlc. Is there anything particular I'll need to look into/out for to get them back to standard. I'm guessing the gearboxes and seals may need a bit of a lube up; but anything else I'll need to know? 2 AEGs and one gas pistol. They've been bagged up and sealed away, so externally they're in good condition still. But the internals may be another story. Cheers 2x19
  22. Thanks, Trigger. I was under the impression that both parties needed to be Registered in order to trade. That solves an issue :-)
  23. Hi guys I've been out of the game for about 5yrs and have a fair bit of excess kit that is gathering dust. Sady, I can't see myself getting back into the sport any time soon, so it's time to free up some space. As it's been such a long time since I last played; and at the time of the VCRA I pretty much had all I needed; I never ended up being signed up with UKARA. Is there any **legal** way for me to go around selling the RIFs I don't need anymore? Other than the obvious "find someone with a UKARA and get them to sell for you/me?" Thanks
