  1. Welcome. £400 is a nice budget to play with for your first guns. As said above, a pistol is a second consideration after a good rifle/SMG. If you fancy an MP5, have a look at what ICS do. Apparently ICS make very good MP5s. http://www.fire-support.co.uk/ stock a good range of ICS MP5s.
  2. Welcome. Lots of people here recommend the G&G Combat machine range as a good starter M4. Not something I have personal experience with but from what I have seen they're pretty decent. Airsoft zone are a decent retailer and have some starter packs available. http://airsoftzone.co.uk/airsoft-guns/starter-packs If you don't need the starter pack items look on the website for just the gun itself.
  3. You should read the disclaimer at the bottom of that page. Hardly inspiring. <b>-- (PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING) -- </br>This Airsoft Gun is primarily design and made in China. Unlike Japan, Taiwan or Hong Kong Airsoft Gun, China Gun is much more affordable and economically reasonable. Equipped with similar mechanism as those from Japan and Taiwan version, China Gun are the best choice for airsoft starter & beginners or those on a budget. Due to the fact that it is built for budget users, it may not be as durable as a Japanese or Taiwanese Airsoft Gun. As As a result, we are unable to offer 30 days return warranty & 100% money back guarantee on this Airsoft Magazine. However, before sending it out to you, our airsoft gunsmith specialist will fully tested and examine the Gun to make it is working properly. We would even make proper tune-up or adjustment, if necessary, free of charge. Since the construction is similar to Western Arms' one, experienced players likes to purchase the China Gun and modify them to fit various Gun frame or body. It is also another insight before making your purchase consideration!
  4. Yep, looks like they did a lot of interior filming in the Mall. Openning scenes reminded me of Aliens and The Last Of Us but then I definitely recognised the pillars and the stairwell.
  5. That looks nice. I might go and get one myself.
  6. I bought a lower mesh mask after somebody decided to full auto into my face from what seemed like a relatively close range. Aside from the teeth, it can leave marks on the skin and lips which could take awhile to heal up. As said above, they probably need altering/bending to fit your face better. They also vary in shape a bit as well so if you have a big nose, look out for ones with more nose room etc. The trouble with masks is that it's a bit harder to aim if you're trying to rest your cheek on the stock.
  7. No. Have a look at this thread. It'll help with choosing a brand for GBBRs. http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/28296-need-help-with-picking-a-gbbr/
  8. I love GBB as well. Advantages are increased realism with recoil and more noise. On full auto the recoil could throw your aim a little. Some people may view noise and recoil as a disadvantage but for me the it's worth it. With my GBBR I usually stick to single shot or 3 round burst whereas with my AEG I tend to be a bit more liberal. Limited ammo means you need to play differently from using a high cap AEG. The magazines are heavy. If you're carrying 4-5 of them around at a time it can add up, especially if they're all thrown into a dump pouch. Running costs are higher than an AEG and also maintenance as well. Varying temperature means performance varies from day to day so I need to adjust my hop at the start of each game day.
  9. If you can afford it, buy whatever you're happy with and want rather than buy something cheaper that you don't really want with the view of upgrading it. However I do realise that not everybody can afford to splash out a lot of money up front so do go for this option. Personally I'm the buy a good gun and leave it alone type of person.
  10. Just reading that thread. It's interesting that somebody there said they had the GHK, M4, AK and the G5 and then says the G5 was better than the other two. I've fired the M4 on semi once. The recoil and the sound it makes is quite different from that of the G5. The G5 is more of an instant bang and quite a sharp recoil where as the M4 recoil was a bit less and sounded a bit more of a 'mechanical' cracking noise. I assume that the heavier M4 had more inertia so would benefit from a heavier bolt to get the same sensation.
  11. Was it a hire gun? If it's your 1st game with a hire gun you probably did not adjust the hope so your range may have been a bit shorter than most other players. If in the future you want to get a red dot sight you probably can just do with a 1x (i.e. no magnification).
  12. I'd go GHK too. I've a G5 and I'm lusting after the GHK AK74 which has steel and wood externals. The internals are not steel but some kind of decent alloy.
  13. One thing I need to ask regarding Milsims. Does it involve role-play? As in the LARP type of role-play where the players act or say certain things to maintain suspension of belief.
  14. Welcome. I play on my own. I just turn up and set up with the rest of them. I nearly always end up chatting with somebody else at some point in the day. Usually things relax a bit after a game or two. Everybody likes talking about their guns so it's an easy ice-breaker.
  15. Echo pretty much what the Colonel said. It's one of the sites I go to along with their Maidenhead site, The Mall and UCAP greenops. It can be a bit mucky/muddy but everything does wash out. Most scenarios are at range as opposed to CQB although there are buildings in some play areas they're essentially shed size so it's not room clearing or anything like that. I think they're offering hotdogs at lunchtime now but it's not enough for lunch so bring your own stuff as well. I may sign up for this Sunday. If not I'll probably go to Maidenhead the week after. It's been awhile since I've gone there.
  16. Both my rifles flash hiders are reverse threaded so try turning it clockwise (when viewing as you look down at it with the barrel pointing up)
  17. I tried a couple of 5000 bags of the Zero One bbs when I first started. They were ok and didn't jam solid in the barrel but I did notice a few did break up when fired and ended up spitting a few fragments out the barrel. Over that run of 10k bbs I'd estimate a failure rate of about 0.1% which doesn't sound much. Just 10 in 10,000. I currently use ASG Blasters and I don't remember any of them failing so far. I've gone through at least 12,000 so far and another 20k to go before I need to restock.
  18. I have both gas and electric and continue to use both. For electric you need 1-2 batteries (spare to make sure you get through the day) a charger and ammo. They are easy to maintain and easy to use. You have a gun that sounds like a sewing machine but that will be the same with most other players out on the field. For gas you need to buy a maintenance kit which is various silicone oils and grease and to clean the gun regularly. Rags and cotton buds are easily found around the house. If you get a GBB pistol the same cleaning routine should be applied to the rifle too, probably more often as the rifle will probably shoot a lot more than the pistol. The main running cost of GBB rifles is the gas and the initial outlay. Each mag holds 30-40 rounds depending on the gun/model. A pistol mag usually holds enough gas for 1-1.5 mags of bbs. A rifle mag will hold enough for 2, maybe 3 mags of ammo. Due to the low capacity you will need several mags which are usually around £50 a pop. They are also heavy so carrying several around can be a bit of a drag. I can't really say how many refills a 700ml gas bottle will give me but it will last me at least 3-4 games. Propane is an option if the cost of green gas is a big factor but you need to remember to add silicone oil. My personal recommendation is to go electric, at least until after winter. Gas is less effective in the cold. Also it'll give you a feel of what airsoft is all about and what other options are available.
  19. If you remember Metal Gear Solid 2, there's a scene about two thirds of the way through where Raiden gets together with Snake. Snake gives Raiden a couple of mags. Kaiden asks whether he will have enough for himself. Snake points at his headband and says "Infinite ammo." Sort of ruins the immersion and the story a bit.
  20. Sorry I didn't even notice this thread. I was there on that day too, on the orange team. In the last game, the head marshal who was leaving just wandered up to a group of us and knife killed just about all of us one after the other until I panicked and managed to shoot him. Lots of people standing around in a huddle looking confused there.
  21. I bought a vest at first but it doesn't fit very well (i'm quite short) and when carrying a full load of gas mags and metal pistol the weight wasn't distributed very well so I decided to invest in a molle chest rig with some pouches. Unfortunately they haven't arrived yet but my thoughts are that being more adjustable I should be able to get more comfortable with it.
  22. I also I want to add that I don't think 2 mags will really cut it in a game. Each magazine holds 38-39 rounds and can hold enough gas to fire 2 loads, maybe 3 depending on temperature. You'll either want to carry more mags (which being gas are quite heavy) so you'll need some sort of vest/rig to carry them or carry a bottle of bbs, a speedloader and gas with you in each game and spend time reloading behind a bush.
  23. You can get a GHK G5 bundle here if you don't want to deal with customs and other hidden costs. http://www.socomtactical.net/airsoft-guns-knifes/professional-airsoft-guns/assault-rifles/ghk-g5-gbb-inc-3-mags-starter-kit.html Like others have said. If I was you I would rent a few times first just to be sure you like doing it and that you won't get bored with it after a few weeks. Some hobbies stick, some don't. It's best to be sure before you start sinking serious money into it. My mid-life crisis guitar is testament to that. I have G5 and it's great but it wasn't my first gun. I also have an AEG which I still use for some games.
  24. I've given out bbs in the past. I carry a small speedloader and sometimes small bottles that contains about 500 bbs each. In a lot of cases the player is just caught short if the game has gone on longer than expected. Usually they offer to top me up when we get back to the safe zone but it's no big deal if they don't.
