samjay Posted Sunday at 15:30 Posted Sunday at 15:30 just joined this site today so I'm sorry if i put this in the wrong topic. I am thinking about rejoining the hobby again, after leaving the hobby nearly 8 years ago. I'm wondering what's the best GBB m4 or ak platform under £400 new or used. will be playing outside, ideally what is easy to upgrade, easy and cheap to buy parts for.
Impulse Posted Sunday at 15:43 Posted Sunday at 15:43 If you're only budgeting £400, you're not getting a good m4 or AK, partially because magazines tend to be £50 per mag and they're only 35rds each, so you will need at least a few. Not an m4 or AK, but the KWA mp9 has always been pretty decent and would come within your budget, including mags. They apparently do eventually need parts replacing later down the line for steel parts as some of the stock parts will eventually give up, though mine haven't gone yet. That said, I don't use mine much.
Austeyr Posted Sunday at 15:49 Posted Sunday at 15:49 The VFC Colt M733 Commando, if imported, will set you back about £400. However, as Impulse said you'll be hard pressed to find a GBBR under £400 that's worth having... If you are open to move from the M4/AK platform... the WE G36 is cheap, cheerful, works fine ootb and retails about £280 in the UK
Gunboat Diplomat Posted Sunday at 15:51 Posted Sunday at 15:51 Undoubtedly one of the Double Eagle MWS clones. Around £350 depending on the model but they are all very solid and trade blows with their Marui counterparts. Leaves you another £50 for a second mag, but expect to buy more.
Lyndication Posted Sunday at 15:54 Posted Sunday at 15:54 Would not recommend a KWA MP9 ngl, they're temperamental even when you replace all the badly designed stock parts. There's an updated Maruyama one coming out that seems to just run a tonne better out of the box. The Double Eagle MWS clones are pretty good. Avoid the DE PMags, they're really bad. Failing that, wait around for a deal on here. IIRC there's a VFC 733 going for £350 that you could probably negotiate down a bit. They're generally quite solid GBBs.
BigStew Posted Sunday at 16:10 Posted Sunday at 16:10 (edited) For that sort of money you are looking at importing a Submachine gun like a one of the VFC HK series you can get a gun and several mags for £400. You won't be able to get a Rifle that doesn't need work and enough mags for that. I highly recomend checking out Explosive Enterprises on you tube for everything GBBR. Lyndication Posted Sunday at 16:43 Posted Sunday at 16:43 Ah damn, it sold. However, this is a decent deal:

Lyndication Posted Sunday at 17:36 Posted Sunday at 17:36 Easy enough if you have UKARA Austeyr and Galvatron 2

ButcherBill Posted Sunday at 18:24 Posted Sunday at 18:24 There are plenty GBBR's in the classifieds, some with extra mags too.
Cannonfodder Posted Sunday at 19:25 Posted Sunday at 19:25 I don't have any hands on experience with gbb m4 or ak platforms so I'll leave that advice to others (although the TM MP7 is in budget if you're open to other guns) 1 hour ago, samjay said: thanks but sadly i don't have one Tbh I'd get that sorted first. While being on the ukara database isn't essential it does make things easier when buying Galvatron 1
Waven Posted yesterday at 11:35 Posted yesterday at 11:35 Performance wise, one of the Double Eagle MWS, but then you need magazines which will exceed 400 in total. I don't trust vfc since it failed me multiple times on different models, and saved me a few times when my opponent player tries to hit me with VFC GBBR. I am not doing voluntary QC for them

Galvatron Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago "Cheap" often becomes expensive down the line with GBBRs. You can get a Golden Eagle M4 with 2 or 3 additional mags for under £400 but the Western Arms gas platform it's based on is somewhat dated and getting spare parts and upgrades can be a challenge later on. Double Eagle's MWS-compatible GBBRs are arguably the most price-competitive you'll find at the moment and lots of parts can be shared across TM, including mag fill valves when they (not the gasket) leak. Upgrades are easy to do if you're reasonably technical. Vorsk has a AR-based GBBR due out next year (expected in the first half) with MWS mag compatibility but pricing and details on the hop unit, trigger box, etc are TBC. I'd guess these will be even more afforable than the DE MWS GBBRs. Another consideration you really ought to make is that now we're in much cooler if not colder temperatures, you should expect your running costs to go up. "Red" or "black" gas cost more money as green gas becomes less practical (if at all) in cooler temperatures. You can use hand warmers to keep your mags warm when you're running green gas but that's something you'll have to keep a close eye on to make sure you're not running a hot gun. Other expenses include lightweight bolts/carriers and with if you use higher pressure gas, there are NPAS and fixed power-down valves to throw into the mix. DJsnipe 1
Baser Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I have a couple of WE Apache MP5's 1. Bought a used from the classifieds, came with fixed and folding stock and surefire light and standard hand guard and 3 gas tight mags. Shoots really well but 120 rounds from the 3 mags is not enough. Cost £350 2. Bought a used MP5K PDW from the classifieds, came with 5 mags Cost £420. Carry all 8 mags into a game and come back empty after 2 hours but I need to move on from my usual spray and pray AEG game and learn to choose my shots. I also carry a small speed loader with 100 rounds in it so I can fill mags at spawn when I run out. Both shoot really well and were in great condition from their previous owners. GBB is fun and more realistic and can be done for £400 but it will be tight especially for mags and carrying ammo.
Wavey_Gravey Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I would save a some more money, £500-£550 and you’re in the realms of a lightly used MWS with a couple of mags.
