Geoffs- differences between "precision" and "super"

Recommended Posts

Since I got into the business of playing Airsoft about 18 months ago I have always used Geoff's BB's as general internet consensus was that they are decent.

Usually I buy the Bio "super natural precision" in 0.3 but wondered if anyone can tell me the difference between the "super" and normal "natural precision" BB's. Is there any noticeable difference? same question goes for the non-bio ones too.

I've googled about but I haven't been able to find anything, hence my post.

Cheers!

Its the polish, you'll notice they feed in/out of mags but in-flight its not enough to make a tremendous difference.

Some sites only allow bios.

Yup, especially outdoors. You're right that they're BS but it's the site's demands.

Geoff's seem to be a bit out of stock lately though.

Thanks, will try the regular "precision" ones instead of the "super"....

I don't clean my barrel as often as I should and it deffo looks pretty flipping clean in there with having used the bios mostly.

Bios make your barrels much dirtier I was told.?

They're demonstrably almost as indestructible as normal bb's, even if you expose them to moisture and sunlight.  So i think that's a bit silly tbh.

You have to work really hard to break them down.  I just went into my garden and picked up a handful that have been out there for months, they look perfect.

I think they're supposed to break down when exposed to soil bacteria, these may have been protected by pine needle litter.

Oh no, they only break down industrially, Bio BBs will never naturally compost. It's why they're BS.

People talking about bio BBs swelling and the like are typically having flashbacks to the chalky, old ones that used to be around before PLA ones cirnered the market.

Iirc years ago bio bbs had a habit of shattering but this was years ago, they've gotten better since. The times I've played at bio only sites I've never had any problems.

Don't they have to reach a certain temperature only possible in industrial composting before they start to break down?

Yeah it's like a lot of "compostable" bioplastics, they need a specific temperature and environment to break down.

Companies are constantly trying to pull a fast one by claiming you can just chuck their waste in your compost bin.

Mmm, we've covered this a few times here. Early "bio" BBs (before my time) did seem prone to swelling and shattering, and I had some 0.43g "bio" that experienced some slight surface crazing after years in the garage.

But now we're onto PLA, which under woodland conditions might degrade in centuries rather than millennia for ABS.  "Bio" is mostly marketing - but at least the prices are nearer parity now, so I use PLA anyway outdoors as it works as well as ABS, and requires less adulteration with Mystery Mass as you go above 0.2g.

I had some old bio bb's from Ehobbyasia that swelled up and blocked the barrel on my VSR years ago. I'd opened the pack and didn't use them again for 4 or so years and took them to a game where they promptly ruined my morning and spent 1.5 hours unblocking and cleaning the barrel. Didn't touch bio's till starting to play at spartan where it's required and have found their bb's to be decent if a little difficult to see due to them being grey.
