There is a semi transparent blue rubber plug in the grip of my WE HK416. I.... never really understood it's purpose but I'm not removing something I don't know the purpose of. It's not very pretty in that colour however and rubber probably won't take paint. So is it required and if so are there flat black ones? Tried to search for it but I found nothing since I don't know what it's called.

Is it in the bottom of the grip where the motor adjust screw is?

Maybe it's to stop screw unwinding?

Just a guess

if its the GBBR 416 then the plug will not serve any purpose so you can just remove it

looks like it's for battery storage as with the RS grips, although afaik those normally have a more robust hinge or suchlike.

as above not necessary, tbh i'm surprised they even bothered installing it.

Have I gone colour blind or are those blue plugs green.

After a quick inspection:

The rubber plug is Sea Green (Green with a slight bluish tint.) At the time I discovered it was there, I was wearing gaming eyewear which made the plug look more to the blue side.

could you not just adjust the colour balance on the monitor?

Expand

True, and I used to to so for a while, but with today's gaming technology, HDR and all that, some games looked off and I had to readjust. Using glasses seems to work better for me anyways.
