It was pretty much standard for night clubs etc to have free entry for ladies and to charge for men. (So that there would be sufficient women to draw in the men) That was successfuly challenged as discrimination and should no longer take place ..... unless the nightclub runs as a private members club, and the goods & services discrimination does not apply, but anyone coming to the club would need to join. Their member prices with half price for ladies could arguably part of a club, but might not work as they have public prices .... and those do discriminate. There could be good intentions such as positive discrimination but that is not an exemption. Positive action is permitted but needs to be directed to act against an existing gender disadvantage and not be discriminatory.
