MisterG Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Played my first skirmish a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed it. The players were all friendly, which made it even more enjoyable. Probably went overboard on kit already, so hope it will get some good use!! Cheers
Supporters Gepard Posted April 6, 2018 Supporters Posted April 6, 2018 Welcome! Glad you had a good time.
Supporters Rogerborg Posted April 7, 2018 Supporters Posted April 7, 2018 Ahoy and welcome. 12 hours ago, MisterG said: Probably went overboard on kit already I know what these words mean, but put together in this order they make no sense.
MisterG Posted April 7, 2018 Author Posted April 7, 2018 I bought a lot of kit already, probably too much MTP, DPM, Urban Camo, laser sight, etc. Due to spending my youth abroad, I tend to use a lot of Americanisms, didn't realise that was one. American English definition of to go overboard- to do or say too much because you are so enthusiastic So due to my enthusiasm for Airsoft I have already bought a lot to use during games. Unfortunately I found Ian's guide to Noobism too late.
Nick G Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 I suspect that Rogerborg was being a bit sarcastic, Isn't it practically impossible to have to much Kit ? My wife often asks how many guitars I actually need.....to which the answer is always 'just one more' !
Arwen Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 Welcome! The only problem with having a lot of kit is choosing what to use...
MisterG Posted April 8, 2018 Author Posted April 8, 2018 My wife already accused me of spending too much, then I remind her how much she spent on trainers/running gear. Desert DPM is tempting me.
Supporters Gepard Posted April 8, 2018 Supporters Posted April 8, 2018 Makes you stand out like a sore thumb though. I have a set of Desert DPM and can't say I've ever worn it. I do like the pattern, however.
MisterG Posted April 8, 2018 Author Posted April 8, 2018 Ok I'll resist the urge for now, but there was an assault vest on ebay for under a tenner, that was very tempting.
MisterG Posted April 9, 2018 Author Posted April 9, 2018 It was on auction and British Army surplus. Looked to be in good condition.
Supporters Gepard Posted April 9, 2018 Supporters Posted April 9, 2018 Are you referring to this? I own one and don't like it one bit.
MisterG Posted April 9, 2018 Author Posted April 9, 2018 Was one just like it. Why don't you like it? Was thinking it would be good for the summer, where a plate carrier might get too warm. Though thinking back on last summer, maybe too warm is wishful thinking
Supporters Gepard Posted April 9, 2018 Supporters Posted April 9, 2018 Just personal preference. You may think it's the dogs bollocks. It certainly worked for a lot of folks when it was in service and it's not a bad design at all for Airsoft.
MisterG Posted April 9, 2018 Author Posted April 9, 2018 Thanks, I think you saved me from getting even more gear. Cheers G

I don't believe that you can have too much kit. Although you can perhaps wear too much at once. The most fun I had yesterday was the last game of the day when I ditched the vest, sniper and carbine and just ran around with an MP5K, sleeves rolled up and cargo pockets stuffed with mags.
