NAE13 Squad Colours

  1. 1. Which faction do you think an AF_UK squad should join?

    • Bravo - a collection of mercenaries and renegades.
    • Delta - the elite, organised troops.
    • The Others - whose idea of fun is causing as much death and disruption as possible!

If you guys are going to set up a forum campsite should I buy the forum patch or should I just go up to you guys and tell you I'm Stormhall.

Whichever takes your fancy.

We could do with an AF-UK flag to better mark our camping area with...

Speaking of the actual event though, how the bloody balls do you pay the deposit?! I've got the email with my booking reference quote in it, so I go to the booking page on the website, click pay, login with Google Wallet, place the order... and it's done. That's it.

There's no opportunity to type in my booking reference...

So, wtf do I do?

Lol Ed, I can't remember! I think I got another email last year, but I'm pretty sure you need your booking reference when you pay the remainder.

You should buy a forum patch anyway, Stormhall!

We do need a flag. Vistaprint for the win. If you look about you'll find an offer to get stuff free - they're always running them. You just pay for postage and processing, which isn't that much. I could sort one out I spose, but if I end up carrying my gear on public transport again I'm not bringing any extra weight! It needs the original forum logo file to print from anyway so it's more of a moderator thing, but I'll happily contribute a few quid...

Finding each other on site is one of the main reasons for the phone number swap idea from the OP...

The payment system has me cautions.

Although Never done this event before Sounds like a blast. Not long ago done North Vs south (massive scale paintball) So would love to do an airsoft event on a large scale.

I have to say the big games are usually the most fun. if not just for the campsite banter alone.

When paying I still had to fill in an address section for it to go through, so I just changed my name to include the booking reference. Hopefully that'll do.

I don't know how else you're supposed to do it.

I'm sure they'll get the message, I remember last year it was pretty painless booking in.

Flag is a good idea, as Ian said phones are important to coordinate, though out in the site you'll want a decent pmr radio to keep in touch.

If we have flags printed, can we nominate some one to be bannermen? Have them charging at the front of the pack screaming like petrified pigs.

Bagsy not me.

I call dibs, only on the condition that we are the forlorn hope for a game :)

P.S. I've gotten hold of 5 XTNI's and a XTNID, do also have crappy headsets as well, might be of some use.

motorola XTNs will certainly be of use, they're what a lot of guys at my normal woodland site use and they do the job!

Flag carrying loon is possible probably only for the final battle in the village at the end of the event, the rest of the time there is no 'pack' generally and despite there being several hundred people on the site at any one time it can sometimes be rather quiet, there's definitely scope for playing it sneaky.

Well volunteered, that man!

@Geoff: XTNI/ID is a great idea - they take the single mini-jack for headsets as the Talkabout and XTN446 so the most common PTT's will fit them.

Does anyone even pole?

That's me signed up for The Others. I put AF-UK Squad where it asks if you are part of an airsoft team. I'm hoping that means that, if they have a wild numbers imbalance between factions, they will keep team members as part of the same faction.

I've paid my deposit, but my mate Joe who did the booking email, put me and my mate Ben, plus him down as team SHAT, our Uni team. Though we'll come and camp out in the same area as you guys. Hopefully it won't be too hard to figure out where everyone is... I don't want to have to drag a weekend's worth of stuff 5 kilometers looking for people for pitching... It'd be bad enough with just my regular, one day's kit.

I find the best way is to ring ahead and have someone from the camp meet you at the gate, worked pretty well last year. Though if we're getting a flag things should be easier.

If all else fails (and I'm still fit) I can bring a big ensign which would make the camp extremely easy to find!

Yeah, ring ahead is the way forward. Get those numbers to me ppl - the folder I had with everyones' messages from last year disappeared when I got the supporters' unlimited message space and, even if I have your no. in my phone, it'll be so much easier to send them all to everyone who's going if you PM your deets to me again ;)

£120 and a long weekend will stop you doing that? Sounds like the perfect thing to do as one of the last things in the UK before you go...

it could do, its what 85 quid for the weekend? then what 30-40quid at least on ammo? (im guessing as i have never been) easily another 50-100 on food and beer. 50 on transport costs? so i would say 200+ for the weekend at least?

3000 BB's was enough for me last year, and that was playing all day Sat, Sat night game, & Sun until end ex @16:00-ish - about £30-35 for food can do it, but yeah I had forgotten about transport. You can't use pyro's that burn (fire hazard) so no expense there. If you look back in this thread, Ed and I were discussing how much it could be done for on a tight budget and he said ignore transport because he had that sorted.

If you have a really heavy trigger finger and manage to stay in contact with enemy without getting hit for a lot longer than average, then just maybe you could get through £30-40's worth of BB's, but the site is huge. I mean really huge, like big enough to get lost in, so you spend a fair bit of time patrolling to where you want to get to (because, if you just leg it along the fastest routes you can find on the map, you're going to walk into an ambush). Unless, of course, you're shooting hand polished Faberge BB's?

There's not really a cut off date, but they say register before 01/08/13

Yeah, those of us who have registered so far are going as The Others, apart from Liam who is being loyal to Delta. If you go ahead, put "AF-UK Squad" where it asks if you are part of a team, just in case the numbers of people in each faction are so unequal that the organisers decide to redistribute them; not that it's likely (and i'm not sure it's ever happened) but they mention the possibility somewhere in all the bumph.
