Supporters Ian_Gere Posted May 18, 2013 Supporters Share Posted May 18, 2013 If I'd spent £1800 on an AEG the minimum I'd want is a 20mm rail mounted tactical Satalite Dish TV & DVD player with Internet Access and a built-in integrated PMR radio & phone in the stock with a wireless headset & PTT! geoffreym
Remember that it was over a period of 3 years, so it's more like £600 a year, and as far as I'm concerned I'd much rather have Lola, than any PTW.

geoffreym
I used to work at a lumber yard when I was 17, and that brought a relatively good wage, with little outgoings due to living with parents. Never really been out of a job since I was 16, granted the wages have changed.
firstname-lastname
If i spent 600 a year i would seek help because thats alot of money Most avid "gun collectors" probably spend that on RIFs in one year, my oldest Gun is from Feburary and I bought them new. If I calculated the total amount I spent on guns I'd probably shock myself. Yet I balked at the cost of a systema bucking to the extent I deliberated over it for half an hour before finally going ahead an purchasing it. After reading he responses to this thread I have modified my HK 417 with the following; 1. Systema bucking 2. Big-O H nub 3. Madbull 6.01mm tight bore. Hopefully the fps with .20g BBs will be 360, when I chrono it, that way I can use .30g's at 310 - 315 fps. I will know tomorrow.

I don't consider it to be a particularly huge amount of money for what I got.
Supporters Ian_Gere Posted May 20, 2013 Supporters Share Posted May 20, 2013 Yeah, I have no probs with spending what it costs to get your gun how you want it and I know PTW's cost a 'kin fortune. It's just that there comes a point where stuff just cannot physically be so much better than standard 'good' for that money to be well spent. SheriffHD
I was going to say "spending that much on a hobby is silly" Then I remembered, I snowboard, airsoft, paintball, PC gamer, electronics tinker and drink enough to make my Celtic blood proud. And I always wonder why I so damn broke.....
firstname-lastname
So I fitted my parts for my otherwise standard VFC HK 417d and tested it to see the results. with the standard parts it was firing at 340 fps +/- 5 fps with .2s, I could hit things out at 30 - 40 metres, but any further I had to lob BBs at it. The barrel seemed to bump the fps up 355 with is isn't too bad, the new bucking and h-nub had the biggest effect on the accuracy, with .28s I was able to easily hit targets 40 metres away, and targets 50 - 60 metres away if the lobbed the shots. I put the standard barrel back on with the new hop rubber and nub and I found the grouping at 30 metres had actually increased, but further out than that and shots had to be lobbed more and accuracy seemed to of decreased. in conclusion the biggest difference made to grouping and range was by the bucking and nub, its so much better than the standard VFC parts. the only thing I cant do to the Gun is upgrade the spring, my weapon is already over the 5 fps over the site limit for an AEG, and if I take it any further i'll have to lock it on semi and call it a DMR. all in all I am pretty happy with the improvements.
