Snakeeyes75 got a reaction from ItsAJ in 40 years old and just getting in to Airsoft
Hi all, I thought i'd take a moment and introduce myself properly, I've started a couple of dopey threads already and thought it about time I made a proper introduction.

My names Graham, I live in Worthing Sussex and I work as a postman. I come from a toy collecting background (GI Joe & a bit of Star Wars), I got into Nerf with my 5 year old and I think that's sparked a need for an accurate RIF and a new group of friends. Through a good friend that Skirmishes regularly I've been introduced to the whole "Airsoft world". I'm due to go to my first Skirmish in October at Elite in Worthing, I've been buying a shed load of stuff recently, mainly finaced by selling a chunk of my Joe collection. One thing about me is I don't do things by halves, a couple of my friends are in the ATC as Leaders and I'm lucky to have access to an indoor firing range which has been a great help! I look forward to starting and hopefully opening the next chapter in my money spending and friend making

If you want to actually hit what you are aiming for, use heavier BBs. At least 0.25 or 0.28+ if your gun can handle it.

I usually set the target at 40m. First thing is to set the hopup. Don't use the sights, just look down the barrel to check the trajectory. People usually prefer one of the two: set the hopup to get the flattest trajectory with no raise in it. This is the most predictable trajectory. I prefer the other way, a little bit of raise in it at the last part.
    This gives the most range.
Something like the difference between the green and the black graph. (Yeah, I know it is an other graph, it's just for the shape of it.)

If you are happy with the trajectory, set your sights to the impact point on the target. First set the iron sights (horizontal, then vertical), then the red dot or optics if you use one.
After you are done with that, spend a lot of time on different distances too. Learn how much you have to aim below or above the target on certain distances.
If your hopup is fine, you don't really need to touch it again, except if you buy an other brand of BBs, or the temperature/humidity changes significantly. Check before every game if everything is still ok. Usually you don't have to touch the sights, just the hopup to get the same trajectory as you set the first time.

I own a G&G Gen 2 TR16A2 'Light Carbine' (pretty much just a slightly shorter M4) and the G&G emag/pmag style mags fit and feed in it flawlessly. On other standard M4 style magwells they work as well, I've tested with a friend's G&P M4.

As far as I can remember, the Gen2 also has a tightbore and a high torque motor. The Gen1s were basically just metal bodied versions of the "sportsline" polymer furniture range, with a few tougher internals, gears, bearings, etc.

The Gen 2s had tightbores and upgraded motors as standard.

The Gen3s have better wiring, a mosfet, a high torque motor and a tight bore. The hop units are the same across all of them I think, G&G's hop units are just exceptionally good in my experience, so they've just made a point of mentioning it, it's not because it's something it has that's better than the previous model.

Standard M4 mags ought to fit all of them, as that's what they take. Pmags will not fit in anything prior to Gen3 because they have 416 style magwells, which are longer, though not enough to really notice a visual difference.
The point of stating the Gen3 has an M4 mag well is so that it can take all the mags M4s can take, such as Pmags which previously did not fit the 416 because they have a lip on their leading edge, which used to hit the extended mag well and no push up far enough to lock in.

I'm sure it'll be fine mate, I reckon the police and customs and excise have far more important things to worry about that us lot running around inflicting bb related damage on each other in our free time! But slightly alarming that a Met Pol SFO doesn't know the score on airsofting and RIFs?! lol
I've been advised that if you are stopped by the police, for example on route to or from a site, then be open and honest and don't get flustered or angry. The chances are the officer won't have a clue what you're talking aout and will be inclined to check further, this may involve a trip to the station, but they're only doing their job and trying to protect the public. Sounds like pretty good advice to me.

Thanks! It's odd as my oldest friend is in the Met police and is licenced to carry a real firearm, I was talking to him last night and he was unsure if he could even legally buy one lol? I realize that the whole UKARA thing is to control people that have an RIF.

I can promise you that IF this does work apart from testing it in private at a local cadet firing range I will be keeping it descreetly locked up and it won't be coming out till I get to my local Gamesite.
