Gen3s are rolled out of the same factory as the Novritsch SSR4: I thought that AIM TOP was the OEM for most of these manufacturers? Lonex has OEM'd for Tippmann (Commando series), BO Dynamics (LT5xx series) and ASG (M15 Proline) off the top of my head. Maybe they did the Prolines for Lancer too? - the GB's have that Lonex shiny finish.

I have seen a Bolster Armouries M4 thing in the 'real'. It was merely ok - nothing exceptional. And certainly not worth the wedge of cash it cost.

Had a brand new SHS High Torque arrive for the gun (from AK2M4) but I wish I ordered a higher-TPA motor - I am concerned that without Active Braking I will get overspin on an 11.1v LiPo. I think I'll use it for another project instead as the Stock performance is decent enough at the moment for my uses. I have installed a new ZCI Plastic Hop Unit though - much nicer than the stock one.

Nope on both counts. Only Hop rubber i had any real problem with was a maple leaf - which needed a slight trim of the lips. Once done it fit the hop unit just fine - got one with an omega nub in a gun at the moment. Tested Lonex/Legit TM and others in the past with no problems. And as for the nozzle - well, I just so happen to have one in front of me. Same length that Negative Airsoft has been selling recently as his preferred M4 length: Source: I have 4 'complete' ICS M4s, a 5th being built at the moment from spare parts on the cheap, and an ICS MP5.

Have you checked the plastic wheel retaining ring thingy on the back of the hop unit? - one of mine backed out slightly causing a slight misaligment in the magwell, and strange power drop/inconsistencies. This part is slightly revised in shape on newer-manufactured versions of the hop unit, but the priniciple is the same - the two slots are used top screw it in or out. Might not be your problem, but worth checking anyway?

Give it ten years, hopefully Brushless will be 'standard' much like they are with RC Planes/Helis etc. And hopefully, costs will come down as well when competing companies and sales volumes rise.

Funnily enough I ordered one of those yesterday - all my guns have SHS motors - I now own 7 of the things.

Just out of interest - has anyone switched-out their motors? I plan to drop an SHS Hi-Torque into my M904G - I'm wondering if the Falcon ETU can cope with the Amp increase?

Found it on JK Army and Tiger111 for around $100 USD. I think it would probably easier to just to buy a warhead - at least there are UK shipping options.

JG G36 on a 7.4v LiPo. They will probably function until the heat death of the universe. Problem is - whilst they are great site rental guns, they don't exactly sparkle with performance. And without knowing what your performance expectations are, you may as well ask 'how long's a piece of string?' There is no such thing as 'the best most reliable platform' when 'best' is subjective to the expectations of the user, and 'reliability' is often compromised by said expectations. Happy with a gun that trundles at 10rps out of the box forever, just 'works' despite being wrapped around a tree but is as dull as ditchwater to use? See my first sentence. Want a 30RPS+ speedyboi monster with incredible semi response? Well - that's another kettle of fish altogether, expect things like higher preventative maintenance/servicing, increased wear an tear, and a more expensive bill to fix when it does shit itself. I'm guessing that what you probably want is something in between those two extremes. Expensive =/= better. Just because there is a high ticket price from some manufacturers does guarantee performance and/or reliability. Looking at you VFC. TM NGRS - the ultimate fanboi rifle. 'Perfect' out of the box apparently - so perfect that people drop a grand to upgrade them to be able to keep up with those pesky kids and their £250 lightly upgraded budget blasters in terms of ROF, trigger response and power levels. But it shakes a bit when shooting and has a functioning bolt stop so it's all good.

No - local-ish to me through Discord. Ended up buying a tonne of near-new stuff (including the gun) for £220 as a job lot. Already sold the tracer that was in the bundle (so made £65 back)- I will be posting a couple other bits up for sale over the next few days. I will be keeping most of it for myself though as it's decent enough kit (chest rig/backpack/soft and hard gun cases/kit bag/4xLiPos/Red Dot/Rail system/Weapon light) - I did pretty well out of the deal - much of it is in pretty much as-new condition. And of course - I finally get a Double Eagle M9xx series gun to muck around with - my youngest son has claimed it his when he's old enough to play later in the year. We shall see...😉 The gun itself has been very slightly upgraded with a ZCI barrel, Prommy hop rubber and a battery extension. Gearbox has never been opened. I plan to switch the hop unit to a ZCI Plastic, maybe drop an SHS Hi-Torque motor in and call it done.

Finally get to find out what all the fuss is about - I picked up a very lightly used (read: mint condition) DE M904G yesterday as part of a 'quitting airsoft' bundle for a very good price. I really like it. Shoots very nicely in my quick tests.

No - me neither. 16 years Airsoft and 9 years tournament paintball left me very confused and unable to work out the difference between the two. Thanks OP - I feel so much better now... (If you know, you know.)

Had similar feelings when I first rebuilt and shimmed a gun (circa 2006ish) - but once you've rebuilt a few guns from the ground up, you learn pretty quickly whether things will go bang or not. Pretty much every gun I buy now gets disassembled into it's constituent parts and rebuilt - warranties be damned. Voltage sag is an issue with Airsoft batteries as they are amongst the lowest quality when it comes to hobby LiPO packs - internal resistance is pretty high on a new Airsoft pack, so much so that RC guys would bin them as 'end of life' for their RC Quads/Planes/Helis etc. Don't believe the C or capacity ratings either. For example - I have 3-year old Turnigy 1300mah 25C Lipos intended for RC that completely outperform both Vapextech 1300mAh 25C Airsoft packs I bought last month - both in capacity and ultimately ROF.

A Vorsk for £140? You can pay another tenner and get a Novritch SSP2 for that money...😉
