  1. It is a great card for the money, it wont be touched at the minute. It will be happily running games at 1080p and even 1440p for years to come. Game development in the visual department has slowed down dramatically, especially as the latest consoles are weak, meaning that developers have little reason to push there graphics in games.

You could save a bit by going for an earlier version of the CPU, Ivy bridge mabye. You dont actually lose all that much performance as the latest generation Intel chips have gone more towards energy efficiency then raw power. That would save you money on both the CPU and the Motherboard. I have something stupid like 40 Games of various sizes and a third of my 1TB drive left. That would save you a few quid. I would recommend WD over Seagate as well.

You dont need a £18 cooling paste, a £5 one would do the job if you really want to use one.

A 750Watt power supply will be ample. You are right in sticking with corsair, they are a good bet. Just avoid the builders series as it has a mixed reputation though. I have heard good things about the RM series which is what you have picked so far.

Just a personal opinion but that case is boring :P This guy has style ;) : http://www.scan.co.uk/products/nzxt-h440-matte-black-with-red-trim-mid-tower-case-with-side-window-and-4-quiet-fans-w-o-psu

A budget style option would be the Corsair 230T though :).

  2. Your going to want a 4K monitor with G-sync to make up for the fact that the GPUs are not going to be able to keep the Frame Rate above 60FPS to prevent any tearing. When they finally come out you will be looking at 500+ for the monitor alone. You really will not be gaining that much from it... Just because the media has hyped it up as the next best thing, the reality of it at the minute is that it is really not worth it. In another 5 years mabye. By then you cards would be defunct anyway.

I'm just trying to help you make a decision that you are not going to later regret. Its a lot of money which could be spent on a hell of a lot of other things.

  3. If your playing at 1080p you definitely dont need to spend that much... If you want to keep with a really solid GPU (More important in game anyway) then going the AMD route would save you a nice amount of money and effect your frame rate by only a small amount.

  4. Most UI's are not scaled for 4K anyway so you just end up straining your eyes trying to read anything. 1440p seems to be a much better option for actual use. You can get whats known as Korean panels for less then 200. They typical use the screens that apple rejected for their displays and put them in a cheap housing with a single power connector and display port connector to bring the price right down. You get a very nice panel for a fraction of what it would cost from apple or the equivalent.

If I stop spending money on airsoft guns I might beef up my PC and get one. I would have 3 Displays to enjoy then :)

  5. If you are likely to move the case around a lot though the closed loop water coolers make a lot of sense. Its the reason why I have one on mine as at some point it is going to be heading off to wales hopefully. There is a lot less strain going through the motherboard and the standoffs.

  6. Plenty of videos on you tube detailing the process. Build it on a wooden desk and rub the edge of the case before touching anything to get rid of your static charge. No video ever said to do this so I fell fail of it and had to take the motherboard back out. First thing your should do is pop the I/O panel into the case housing. If not your in for a world of cursing when you realise you have not fitted it and the only way to fit it is to take the Mobo back out again.

  7. I have a Gigabyte Mouse M6900? I believe it is. Its about £25 and its a pretty solid bit of kit, comfy, decent tracking and has survived plenty of tumbles. Trouble is I fancy trying a death adder or the Corsair M65 but want to wait until this mouse dies which is looking like it wont be for a while :D

The Gigabyte Osmium is meant to be a nice bit of kit keyboard wise. I almost brought one before settling on the Membrane version which was half the price, I now regret it as the one I have drives me up the walls sometimes.

  8. Dont worry about over-clocking, its not going to make a particularly noticeable difference. Its nice to do if you can but its just putting more strain on your parts and will reduce their lifespan, no matter how well you cool them.

  9. Not much point buying a 770 tbh as the new ones are good value for money and have better performance.

An I7 would not really give you any benefits if your gaming at 1080p, save some money and get yourself an I5, I think the latest chips are Haswell?

Spend some of that money on getting a nice 24inch display.

Gigabyte and ASUS boards always have a good reputation.

  10. There is no point at all getting the 8GB version of GPU unless you are planning on running multiple VERY high resolution monitors. 3-4 GB is more then ample for 1080p.

You dont need 16GB of memory unless you have a specific function for it, i.e CAD work, Video editing, rendering e.t.c. 8GB will be more then enough.

The motherboard is the one I use and it is showing its age now. It was old when I got it over a year ago. Go for the later ASROCK board with a 990x chipset or an equivalent.

Go for a Samsung Evo SSD, much better track record then the Toshiba.

  11. My impression of it so far is Meh. The control layout feels really odd coming from normal first person RPGs like skyrim, im not really liking the hot bars either. Have you had any experience with the Elder Scrolls Online. I've seen some really mixed reviews on it.
