Band of Brothers was 101st US airborne, closest they dropped would be Nijmegen. Just cos I wear Airbourne gear doesn't mean I use a parachute, I could hitch a ride in a glider, that way my hair won't get messed up

How many handbags does she have? Agree to cut back to the same number of guns as she has handbags?

Yup, Plenty of us in Bristol area. Probably quite a few Welsh, they just find it hard to type in the velcro gloves

Yup, I started an Airborne impression ages ago and when looking for a better denison, I got distracted by the Aussie jacket and hat
Now I have all the Aussie gear sorted, I figure I ought to finish what I started. I have an old tankers helmet to convert by changing the liner and chinstrap (they use the same shell). I then just need a better Denison. My current one is too small and is a Belgian one. Ideally it should be like wearing a tent but it fits really nicely

Helmet Liner Bolts to attach Liner Chinstrap

    Total £65 inc P&P

This is to convert my tankers helmet into a Para Helmet. Now I have Aussie uniforms sorted, time to return to the Airborne impression.

Recordable greeting card would be my starting place for sound. You can then record whatever sound you want. If you tie it to a tree and activate it by pulling a string, the person approaching will hear your message and investigate. I don't know whether they loop the sound so you can just throw it and leave it running.

How about a cooling fan with a bit of cable tie set to rattle on the blades?

Just noticed we have a member called wheeled wonder, who has a guy in a wheelchair with a gun as his avatar. Mabe there are more airsofters in wheelchairs than we all realised?

Generally what constitutes a good sniper rifle is based not upon how good the rifle is out of the box, but whether it is possible to upgrade them. The Well rifles have lots of after market parts available.

Hmm. We have quite a few niche airsoft groups represented here. I do the WW2 games, we have some African Bush wars guys and the Russians. Maybe we should get some weird league going and have the Russians invade S. Africa one weekend and then invent time travel so we can see how the winner does against the combined axis and allied forces?

Depending how you play, you might be better off with a very accurate AEG. A good M14 will be cheaper than a fully upgraded snipers and can get some great results. It will not be as good at range as a fully upgraded VSR but you should be able to get it to outperform most M4's.

I get very good results out of a £100 Sten gun. I have learned that it (for some unknown reason that defies the laws of physics) will outshoot most AEG's so I started hanging back and picking people off before they can hit me. Last weekend I was in a game where we had a small team attacking everyone else in a house (anyone who dies joins the attackers) and as we started, the guy in front of me said 'If only we had someone with a long gun, I bet we could shoot the guys by the doorway from here.' So I shot a 3 round burst into the doorway and 3 guys walked out

I am not going to suggest a Sten as a sniper, you can't mount a scope for a start. A good consistent AEG however can be used in a DMR role with great effect if you don't want to go fully into the money pit that sniping entails. In my experience of being shot by them, M14's tend to be the way to go for this (the Sten incidentally is internally similar to an M14). You just want an FPS just below 350 and a good hop up, possibly a tight bore barrel.

I discovered a small model shop 5 mins away from me
I now have some trees, 2 shades of flocking and some paints. I bought a picture frame to use as a base for a diorama and some air setting modelling clay to build the ground. I have started building a scene with a small river through the middle and a muddy track fording the river. I shall try doing the river with Yacht varnish.

I will produce some better photos when I can take them outside. Its hard to get the whole gun in and artificial light doesn't do her justice.

So I totally failed to get of my arse and go to Antics today. Might manage to go before work tomorrow. I have built the Matilda except for the running gear as I ideally need to paint it before assembly.
Was looking at the painting guide for the Aussie troops, OMG they have it all wrong. Revell wants me to give them black boots, green (long) trousers and khaki shirts. Australian troops wore brown/tan boots, by the time they were issued long trousers the shirts would have been green. One of them is wearing a gas mask bag, yet Japan never had Gas? I really would have expected some research to have been done by whoever designed these.

It's only a cheapo JG/Snow Wolf clone as a back up for my m14, but my god is it pretty!
