  1. Airsoft UK != UK airsoft - official But what makes that one official 😉 Btw != means not equals
  2. I’ve found these ARES ones https://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/ares-honey-badger-120-round-magazine-tan and they were actually in stock (only 1 left now). Advantage is that they are half price compared to the EPM-1 S. Regarding Negative Airsoft, he explained it to me why the mag can cause problems and I have heard from others as well that the high spring preassure can cause feeding issues. But apparently this is only true for the full size EMP-1 with 240 BBs. The S version only has 120 and a spring that is not as strong. But given what Negative Airsoft has done with my Krytac I tend to give him the benefit of doubt.
  3. I played at DogTag down in West Sussex on Saturday. My son conscripted 5 of his friends to join us and at the end of the game they were already checking out deals for IFs (talking about growing the game). The turnout was better than expected with mainly rentals and a few experienced players. I felt like I was cheating. In one game I didn’t have to move at all as my pickings were so plentiful. I was sitting in a bush with a sniper hood and a camouflaged tuned Krytac overlooking a little valley to a place the other team had to come through to reach the objective. They looked in my direction and couldn’t understand where the BBs were coming from. I was out of reach of their rental guns so yes it really felt like cheating. I prefer a mix with more experienced players but hey it was fun!
  4. Hi, When I go prone with my Krytac the magazines are a bit too high and the gun basically rests on the mags. Do you have any recommendations for low profile M4 mags? I’ve seen the EPM-1 S but Negative Airsoft doesn’t rate them because of their strong spring (he recommends the EPM but there is no low profile version of it).
  5. Hi While gearing up for a Skirmish at DogTag today I filled up one of my AAP magazines and it hissed back quite angrily at me. After that i could hear a constant low level air leak from the bottom. Can you repair these mags or are they gone?
  6. Love the green Barett. As an ex PzGren (mechanised infantry) we used to wear green Baretts and we were immensely proud of it (even though we were anything but an elite unit)
  7. And I would like to (not wanna) know WTH QCB is 😉
  8. I fully agree with this. I always hated my heavy steel helmet I had in the army so I never got a helmet for airsoft but rather use a boonie. To give a little protection against bumps or bbs I use a bump cap https://amzn.eu/d/cCGtLkP My son uses an FMA Team Wendy helmet which you can get cheapish from AliExpress. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002651631133.html They have a better suspension than normal fast helmets (but you can retrofit other helmets with that suspension - again cheap on AliExpress) The only disadvantage is that they use a different rail than other FAST helmets
  9. And that is where the momentum comes in 😉 But you are right that the drag increases exponential. Every EV owner will be able to attest that you get a lot more miles out of your battery at 60mph than at 80 (completely theoretical speed of course 😉
  10. It’s called the momentum of mass. It is calculated as p = m*v (m is the mass and v the velocity). A 0.2 Gramm BB shot at 1 J will travel at about 100m/s. A 0.3gramm BB will travel at about 85m/s. 0.2 BB -> 0.2g*100m/s = 20 m*g/s 0.3 BB -> 0.3g*85m/s = 25.5 m*g/s
  11. I’ve got the Vortex Crossfire II LPVO and I can really recommend it. Not the red dot you are after but you can use it as one with the 1 times magnification.
  12. My first try at Camo painting. I’ve tried the sponge technique, worked out quite well. What do you think? The green isn’t quite as bright as in the picture.
  13. As my old Tibetan Zen Sniper master said: “You have to think like a bush to become a bush!” 😀
  14. I bought a Trident SPR after I had to return my Specna Arms because of faults. I love the gun, it is very sturdy but the UK version is a bit underpowered out of the box. It was only shooting at about 0.85J which seems standard for the UK version. I had Negative Airsoft upgrade it a bit and now it shoots at 1.06 - 1.08 with very good grouping. The gun is good out of the box, so you don’t have to upgrade it if you don’t want to but you know we always chase that little bit more 😉
  15. Same as above with the exception that I would of course do what my wife asks me to do straight away 😇 I guess leaving a few BBs in would not hurt the springs but it is safer to not have any loaded magazines in the house anyway. Having the mags fully loaded over a longer period would weaken the springs I believe. Regarding pistol/gas mags. Leave some pressure in the mags as that apparently helps with keeping the seal (just repeating what I read).
  16. Yes Gore-Tex (or the other brand names) should say ‘Waterproof OR breathable’ and not ‘Waterproof AND breathable’. Yes they are waterproof and yes they are breathable but not both at the same time. They only breath when the pores are not blocked on the other side by the larger water molecules.
  17. Well DNA has a compression ration of 1:7 (DNA vs deoxyribonucleic acid) so purely out of laziness I would prefer DNA (and I wouldn’t be able to pronounce it correctly anyway). With MK vs Mark we only have a compression ration of 1:2 so not really worth it. And when you actually use phonetic language the MK comes out longer than the word it abbreviates.
  18. Thanks found one that will do Alpine Spudz Microfiber pouch
  19. Socks are very important! Given how deep the mud is in places and streams of water just running through the woods I am considering getting some Seal Skinz socks. They are supposed to make every shoe ‘waterproof’. I’ve got some Sealskinz gloves and they are very good. I believe the Army is issuing these now.
  20. Hi, Played this morning (Driver Woods) and had a few problems with my LPVO (Vortex crossfire). As it was quite cold outside I had condensation on the glass. I think it was just from the outside. It was difficult to make anything out through the optics as everything looked like it was foggy. How do you handle that during game play. Do you carry a soft ‘glasses’ cloth in your admin pouch?
  21. I remember one tank commander putting his boots on the heater as he managed to step into a 1 meter deep ‘puddle’. When he tried to put the boots back on the sole still stuck to the heater.
  22. Standard German Army issue? They must have improved a lot over the years. Back in 88 they were very solid but would give you the most beautiful blisters. Oh the joy when they then got infected as well. Our Sargent told us to urinate into the shoes to make the leather softer. I don’t think anyone took up that idea 😉
  23. Hi I am planning on spray painting my AAP-01 pistol once it is warn enough (> 12 degrees) and dry enough (so by the looks of it that will be late May ;-( Is there a danger of paint getting into the gun? Do I need to cover the small gap between upper and lower? What would you tape off? Iron sights safety switch ’Ejection port’ Does anyone know of some cheap options for stencils? I bought a reusable one from Amazon but I am not too convinced of it. I have seen the Freedom Stencils but they are very expensive for what is basically just some stickers.
  24. I am actually too scared to add it all up. I’ve started this year in May with my son. I knew that my gun alone was £700 (Krytac incl upgrades from Negative Airsoft and a Vortex scope) so my guess was that I spend about £1000 on Airsoft over the year. When I’ve added it up it actually came to twice the amount. And that didn’t even include what I’ve spent on my son’s games&equipment and a lot of the smaller purchases. RIF Gear Pistol Consumable Krytac 350 Vest 40 AAP 90 BBs 80 Optics 200 Plate Carrier 70 Mags 100 Games 200 Negative Airsoft 161 Pouches 30 Gas 30 Oil 5 Mount 22 BDU 40 Holster 30 Tools 30 Sling 20 Shirt 25 grip 14 G3 pants 85 Mags 36 Knee pads 15 Crono 34 Camo 60 Fast loader 35 Sniper Veil 55 Case 85 Boonie 15 Coms 30 Veil 7.57 Face pro 45 Eye pro 80 Belt 25 Camo paint 20 Total 957 642.57 250 315 Grant Total 2164.57 Regarding AI in software development, I use ChatGPT when I need to figure something out and it really helps when learning a new language. E.g. I am moving from Java (27 years of experience) to Kotlin and I can ask it how I would solve a problem in Kotlin and give it some Java code. BUT!!! It often comes up with stuff that doesn’t exists or it contradicts itself in subsequent requestes. So yes it can be very helpful but you always have to question the results. And you need to ask the right questions. I think AI will help with doing a lot of the boiler plate code but you will still need Developers - at least for a while, hopefully long enough for me to retire 😉
