  1. I think there is a problem of definitions as to what is, or is not, a futures trader. The short sterling future market is about betting on short term interest rates, not exchange rates.
  2. Welcome to the hobby; playing with your kids is great. Mine started when they were 10 and 12; the eldest gave up years ago but the youngest still plays regularly when he is down from university. Well done on buying a sensible first gun; play with it a few times to see what you think needs improving (range, accuracy, rate of fire, trigger response etc) and then start looking at upgrades. The Advice and Technical Help section of the forum is a great place to get advice and guidance on upgrades from some very knowledgeable folk. One thing I would recommend if you do not already have them is a good pair of solid boots that support your ankles; surplus boots are excellent for this and quite cheap. As for a pistol, I would highly recommend the CO2 powered ASG XP18 commander. My son and I have been using them for a while and have found them to be solid, reliable and consistent; CO2 is also more reliable than airsoft gas in cold weather, although they struggled at -6 degrees a couple of weeks ago. Enjoy this silly hobby!
  3. Which is probably a good thing for them.
  4. You should not be allowed anywhere near an airsoft field; you encapsulate everything that is bad about this hobby. I am not fighting fire with fire; I am calling this person what they are. Anyone who sets out to run a gun 50fps over site limits and is happy to cheat the chrono is an utter cunt who has no place in this hobby, regardless of of their gender or where they live.
  5. Thanks to very high winds, I once shot a guy that I couldn't even see. I took a shot at someone, the BBs went off at an angle partway through the flight and whizzed around a barricade, hitting the chap behind it. Of course, it was intended. Are they very little ones or do you just do a lot of shooting?
  6. Lay in stores and batten down the hatches.
  7. Sadly, I think this is the case. The issue where D&A operate has been going on for ages; Doomsday, who used to be there, had to shut because the landowner had breached planning regulations.
  8. If you are going to play with a gun that you know to be hot by 50fps, that makes you an utter cunt.
  9. As they have gone into administration, you would have to contact the administrator. However, you have very little chance of getting your money back.
  10. His LinkedIn page is somewhat confusing on that topic.
  11. That seems to be the same issue that killed Doomsday.
  12. Nicco di Piazza is/was James Bailey’s sidekick, with a back story that has wobbled a time or two.
  13. Kingdom seems to get very low numbers and frequently cancels for that reason. Also, having encountered the guy that runs it in his shop, I have no intention of playing at a site that he runs. As for Anzio, it is a great site but, on the day that we were there, the game design was awful and the marshaling was poor.
  14. Mr Bailey plays at Phoenix near Nottingham; this one is near Warrington.
  15. That is a different site, although I would welcome another opportunity to meet Mr Bailey. Aye, that might be a possibility; has anyone on here played there?
  16. As I was driving the lad back to university today, we were discussing how he could get some games in between now and the summer. As it is his final undergraduate year, he will not be able to come down at Easter and does not drive, so the plan is for me to go up to Stoke a few times so that we can play up there. We have played at a couple of sites relatively near Stoke (Anzio and Sixmil/Stormforce) and were not very impressed by either of them; we have looked at others but have excluded them. We now have three possibles and I am hoping that anyone who has played them recently will be able to give us their opinion; they are: Phoenix/PTC near Warrington (run by Bomb Up). Hilton Park Airsoft near Wolverhampton (run by TM Airsoft) Frontier Airsoft near Penkridge (one specific question for this one: are their games all themed ones? Their photos seem to include some very strange costumes.) Many thanks in advance for any information.
  17. I think it is a bit of both, with the former being the most significant factor. I completely agree with your comments about Apocalypse, which is where I thought you were referring to; I have played there a few times, including since the change of management, and have found the management, organisation and marshalling to be poor to the extent that it ruins the experience.
  18. Not really; I have seen good and bad sites close over the years. Where this has happened, it is been due to circumstances outside the site managers' control, such as the landlord wanting to develop the site, change its use, or put up the rent. As ruskitseller points out, it would be handy, but probably impossible, to define what we mean by a good site and a crap site; people will have different perceptions of these two terms. For example, I would describe TWA as an utterly fucking crap site run by utter fucking twats, but it seems to attract a reasonable number of regular players who presumably think it is good. For a while, I would gave described it as reasonably good, although its main attraction for me was that it opened on Saturday, which meant that I could play on rehearsal weekends. I would be intrigued to know what site @Tackle is describing, given that I suspect that we have played at many of the same sites.
  19. Any tips about the location of the sticker?
  20. I agree that it is almost certainly a DE; it is quite different from the Ares.
  21. I used mine today. It was hitting 45m before starting to drop.
